Weekender: Bruce Lee Tabletop Action & Free Halloween Game!
October 25, 2014 by dracs
Welcome to The Weekender where this week we'll be chatting about the awesome Print & Play game we've been working on with community members Kedrick Winks and Gav Roachdown called LocaliZED! We've had a lot of fun with it!
If you have had difficulty downloading try this link: https://bow-videos-ie.s3.amazonaws.com/downloads/LocaliZED.pdf
The game was included in today's (Saturday) On The Table Ezine, we will however be sending it out again to anyone who missed it, subscribe here: //www.beastsofwar.com/subscribe-to-onthetable/
We'll also be chatting about Kickstarter and Afterlife: The Shards of Liberty that you can still win your pledge for if you're quick AND a Backstager! We check out Dragon Tides too!
We talk about the maestro of game design Alessio Cavatore and his Tarot of Loka as well as new project, Krowdfunder: The Game, whilst Justin let's us in on another Bolt Action game between him and John.
Have a great weekend!

You could always post the Epic Deadzone battle for next week with no weekender.
We would only we were asked by Mantic to hold it to coincide with a ‘thing’ they have in the works 🙂
What happened to your Star Wars Walker?
Apostrophes guys… sigh.
Great show like the laid back atmosphere. Really sad Warren wasn’t shaggy. Liked the Bolt Acton talk.
Looking forward to the Batman coverage. I’ve got a bunch of the minis and I’m in the early stages of putting some boards together. I’m going to use the City Block range from Sarissa Precision for an urban Gotham board. I have the Griffin House from Fenris Games and I’m going to add the Copp’s Hill Masoleum from them and a train station for a rural board. Then, most ambitiously, I’m going to get a plastic dinosaur, a large coin, a joker playing card, and some computer decks, and recreate the Batcave. It’s worth checking out Eaglemoss who do a range of die-cast Batman vehicles which are just the right scale for the minis.
Probably going to use Ainsty Casting’s Caves of Gloom range for the Batcave too.
I also have to recommend the City Block line from Sarissa Precision. Unfortunately I don’t own any of it yet but I saw some of those buildings at a con last year. Just take a look at their warehouse:
http://www.sarissa-precision.com/CityBlock_Warehouse/p1603368_12278341.aspx
..or even their Gas Lamp Alley warehouse if you want more.. er.. verticality:
http://www.sarissa-precision.com/Warehouse/p1603368_12281541.aspx
Another +1 for Sarissa. Their stuff is fantastic, good value and if you do pick up a ton of their city block stuff it comes with a free huge slice of my envy
Warning, the following joke is very niche: Lloyd looks the Earth-2 Claypole….
*looks like
Actually it is Lloyd “the amazing” Hardly Quinn.
Another great weekender. I like the look of the Afterlife Kickstarter but all my funds have been drained by previous projects.

mmmmmm ok we’ll look into that, in the mean time try it again in a little while (we think that Amazon sometimes scales a little bit oddly – the link just worked fine here)
No worries mate I can be patient Is it there yet, Is it there yet, Is it there yet, Is it there yet, Is it there yet, Is it there yet, Is it there yet, OWWWW 😉
Hey guys I signed up did all the fluff but where said link for localized
i get the exact same thing sadly.
i was gonna get me the game to doodle with while being hungover
Thanky guys, you saved halloween!
kareem abdul-jabbar!! legend
Great show, cannot find the sign up for the e-zine though – signed to the daily.
Bruce lee game looks excellent. Cannot wait for the bat man coverage – As an idea rather than just whole buildings could do part cut away buildings – for crashing through windows and fighting room to room.
Guys where’s your poppies???
Glotkin book already sold out on GW!
There shouldn’t be any problems picking it up. GW announced Space Hulk was sold out on their website on the day of release but you can still get it from other places.
You’ve got the same glowy, smokey skull that I have!
For some reason that made me grin like a lunatic all the time that I was watching the video.
The Warlord bases are cylindrical, not spherical… so stop talking balls 🙂
The Localize game looks and sounds very entertaining.
Dudes
DRAGON tides showing as cancelled on kickstarter September 12th????

I subscribed yesterday and today I did receive an email saying about the localized game but there was no download link to get the game…any suggestions or help?
Anvil industries – you had me at “railgun”
Kedric here (the LocaliZED) guy. Please do download and plaay, we’d love feedback. And if you like it here’s the link to the fb page for game I’ve got launching Kickstarter this Friday!
https://www.facebook.com/ghosthuntercards
Great video again guys thanks.
For Batman, the downloadable terrain you print yourself stuff from WorldWorks would be my first stop.
Their Downtown range IS Gotham, and cheap!
Oh that reminds me, if you have and WWG stuff I strongly, strongly recommend you have it all downloaded by the end of the month.
Any, not and. Doh!
That zombie game looks amazing . Can’t wait to play it.
Zombie game looks great but any chance of laying out the cards so the are touching each other as this will dramatically reduce cutting time.
The Anvil Afterlife Kickstarter funded last night and has broken through the third stretch goal this morning. If anyone’s interested in joining in, there’s only a day and a half left!
Also, Beasts of War are doing one of their ‘pay for one random pledger’s pledge’ promotions!
Hi guys
I was having trouble getting to “Localized”
Here is a fix that worked for me.
On the E-zine email select open in browser. That will basically reopen the E-zine again, but not in your chosen email program, but as a web page.
Click on the “Localized” art work and your download should start automatically.
Worked for me.
Hope this helps somone
The conservative David Cameraman, lol, he’s one prime miniature!
Who are the winners from infinity week ? or did I miss names in a other vid.
Probably waiting until 2 weeks from now, the longer the contest is open, or at least, seems open, the more comments and likes the videos get
Thanks for another great start to the Weekend!
@dracs – Well done on the historical debrief for Bolt Action, Sam, even after Warren took your notes. We’ll make a historical gamer out of you yet! 🙂
This is a proud day for me.
Got my copy of Battleground Europe yesterday…. have to say Warlord really did an awesome job with this one. Really looking forward to getting the club to play through it (hopefully…. if we can get a few more german players!)
I’m gonna try to get my friends to play the game this week.
Afterlife isn’t a game I’d personally get into but it’s extremely well done – some really clever details and ideas in that. I’m glad to see it got funded and is making it through stretch goals!
Bruce Lee board-game looks awesome, one of those things you would never think of as a miniature game but is actually a genius idea.
Batman miniatures game looks amazing – I especially like the Poison Ivy set with the killer plants…a redhead and killer plants, what more do you need?
As usual, a great show guys.
Bolt action the more the merrier 🙂
On the Zombie game, Camp Lejeune NC Edition. Locations to include the armory, chow hall, motor pool, e-club, NCO-club, stone bay, Camp Geiger, Camp Johnson, New River, MWR, Bowling Ally, Commissary, Exchange, Base Housing, BOQ, Barracks.
Equipment M1A1 Abrams, Amtrac/LVPT7(replace Harvester) grenades, Molotov cocktail(replace petro bomb), M16A2, M1911,M60, SAW, M9, KBAR, Bayonet, Baseball bat
Due to the amount of high power weaponry available double the amount of starting zombies.
I spent some time at Camp Geiger for MCT/SOI, and Camp Johnson for MOS A-School back in 1989-1990 (totally giving away my age here). 🙂 Of course, we were still rockin’ the M60A4 back in those days (the Army wasn’t letting us play with M1s yet).
When we were test playing this we used a map of a Royal Air Force camp. It worked pretty well. No Abrams but I’ll be sure to try that next time.
Warren, if you like the idea of superhero multiple-realities, you are going to LOVE the upcoming Spider-Man even – Spider-Verse, where alternate versions of the web-slinger (some familiar, other brand new) must band together to face a villain who is hunting down Spider-Man in all his incarnations across the Multiverse. And yes, for the record the Marvel Universe is Earth-616. Every other variant of a character/ setting has their own Earth-designation. And as a snippet so far you have The Superior Spider-Man (Otto Octavius prior to Pete reclaiming his mind), Spider-Gwen (Gwen Stacey, bitten by the radioactive spider in place of Peter and with a killer costume), Spider-Girl (May “May-Day” Parker, the daughter of Peter & MJ, now a hero in her own right), The Sensational Spider-Ham (Peter Porker. Not saying anything else…), Spider-Man Noir (Spidey as a 20’s/30’s pulp crime-fighter), and many, many others….
The shortcut to LocaliZED resolves to :-

Which fails.
Drop the %20 off the end and it works :-

aye. what he said. PLEEEEESE bow, for the love of colin, get it fixed
Great Weekender guys. Excited about the Batman game covered age, I’ve been looking at it for a while. Good to see some ideas above about terrain, its another system that’s a different scale to all my other stuff (more spending ahoy). Localised looks great I’ll be giving that a go. Just from what I can see it looks like your on to a winner, and the scope for add ons or a sequel is massive. Globalized anyone?
love the idea of getting Dad’s army and painting them up one day.
(damn this backlog of things to do)
Great show guys, love the look & description of the game (Sam) that short story was brilliant nice? Twist at the end. People can play the game set in Dracula / Frankenstein’s castle?
Looking forward to Batman content.
BIRRRDDDD MANNNN!!!!!!!
I know there isn’t a competition this week (is there?) but I thought you’d miss me if I didn’t post a comment… so … ummm… how’s it going?
Any idea when the winner of the Infinity week will be announced? I was so hoping it would be in this episode or have I missed it when you announced him/her?
great work kendric and gav.
i think about making a map of a cruise ship and do a vaction of the dead setting, but i would like to see about making it more 3d. thanks agains for all your work
I would absolutely love to hear how that turns out. Sounds great.
Kedric
What is the list of German forces that Justin using in those bolt action battles? From what I can see of John forces that is a nice little list, also John are you using the Plastic M3’s half tracks as M5’s?
There are rules for the Russian Bomb-Dogs taking out friendlies.
Should be in the Soviet army book. Can’t remember what it was exactly, but for every dog there’s a good chance it’ll either decide to bugger-off (apparently lured by the smell of German sausage) or choose to hide underneath the closest friendly unit (within a certain distance) with potentially hilarious consequences.
How about for next week, posting a backstage only video or two to entice people to join backstage?
I dont think its fair to say Bruce Lee was a peerless martail artist. Lot of respect for the guy but there were plenty of fantastic martial artists around Bruces time but they didnt have movies to help drive their popularity. Look at people like “Judo” Gene Lebell who was fighting MMA style challenge matches using his judo before MMA was a thing in the west. If you havent heard of him you may have heard of one of his students Ronda Rosuey UFC women’s champ.
