Just a quick re-cap through MANY topics.
FoC is out of date and can limit game play and player chioce in a bad way.(Darrel is sooo right on this.)
But some gamers want a picture rather than numbers , Warren is soo right on this too.

Solution .
(I cant draw boxes so try to imagine it!.)
HQ unit allows up to 8 core unit chioces.
Every 2 common unit chioces allow one specialised unit chioce.
Every 2 Specialised unit chioces allow one restricted unit choce.
Units classification is PURELY on rarety in the army NOT function!So multiple theemed lists can be made with the same basic units!

Hull points.
Vehicles have wounds!
Simply print a table with AV=T values .
And Hull points represent wounds!
So vehicles have the same resolution method to every other unit!

Strenght vs Toughness to determine wounds!(Instead of str vs AV and tables!)

Pre -measuring , only takes away the desire/fear of cheating.Everyone has the same information to base thier in game decisions on.GOOD THING in a game for new players/children.

Allies lets people start collecting new armies , and aids sales.
Makes sense.(The same as being able to buy ‘terrain with in game advantages’.)

I agree totaly with Rick that the background inspires people to get into 40k.

Now its more along the lines of’ Here are OUR range of shiney new toy soldiers.As you are 11 to 16 and have no idea how to think for yourself, here is how they fit in OUR background universe, and are used in OUR game.’
GW plc selling toy soldiers to children, rather than promoting games to gamers…

I also agree with Ricks comments on current 40k.
There is nothing wrong with having a big batte game.As long as the rules are written for a big battle game.
Most gamers like the current game play of 40k.BUT have issues with the current rules for 40k.
(And a rule set written for the game play we want from 40k, but GW dont provide would be very welcome.IMO.)
