Darrell Gets Out The Skull-Bedecked Basilica Administratum
February 1, 2011 by dracs
Beasts of War goes to ruins as Darrell takes a look at the Basilica Administratum terrain from the Cities of Death range for Warhammer 40K. I believe it may have a couple of skulls on it.

‘s a nice build Darrel, I got the city and sector box bets when they came out but I wen’t for taller buildings rather than that long frontage but I really like the look of it I reckon I’ll give that kinda dimension to the next building I make!
I’m not really a big fan of the GW terrain, but the cityscape 40k stuff is great if you need it done quick, the only real downside is they’re pretty light weight, so as Darrel says you need to pin them to a masonite or particle board etc base to stop ’em getting knocked over or just falling when someone decides they really want their old second ed all metal assault marines or their Bloodthirstier to be on top.
The other disadvantage is its all very obviously 40k universe buildings, so if you decide that instead of looking a bit like Berlin, you actually want it to be Berlin your Warlord or Bolt Action minis look a bit out of place, whereas if you build a generic building or even copy a building 1:1 from photos of a WW2 battle 40k minis don’t look that much out of place.
Some good points there. they do look well on a base though!!
Nice piece of terrain,
good review
Thanks BoW!
in the fourty-first century you only need faith in the emperor to light your ruins.
At my side of the galaxy my lights are powered by CHAOS!!
Great review. I love the city scape I think I own 5-6 city sectors + some extras and i built some smaller buildings and ruins but I also built some Sky scrapers too for my chaos Hive! the one i like too call the SKULLAVATOR is like a grain elevator for skulls and yes i have a skull auger!
it blocks line of site too reaver titans! counts as intact building. I also built 2 more tall buildings 6-7 tiles tall and what my friends dubbed “The Bird House” has an elevator too the top floor where there is over 12″x12″ floor space too fight over with removable roof !
All buildings and ruins are mounted on modular 12″x12″ bases flocked and painted too match my table love the kits my table is now oneour local clubs and store envy’s!
this is just a small portion of my city terrain

grr forgot i cant post my pics here i will start a thread in csm for a pic
Terrain hint….I work at an OfficeMax in the states and when we open new printer boxes they have molded styrofoam inside. Some look like imperial guard bunkers and others like Tau garages. Painting them with H20 paint as a primer and then any ol’ color you want makes a easy and impressive terrain building that has a new feel rather than a ruin.
I agree with legionincorruptible. If you can find something else to do the job its great. But I have to admit that I do like the GW stuff
