In anticipation of the new rulebook and expanding list of playable factions, I recently picked up a copy of the Fallout Factions core set. My club’s FLGS just opened an account with Modiphius and ran a promotion on the starter set so a few of us are dipping toes in together.

I challenged Lance to a game at our last meet so spent the last couple of weeks getting a crew together and reading rules!

I present to you The Pack, the craziest of the raider factions occupying the ruined Nuka World theme park. Adorned with psychedelic furry trousers, animal masks and teddy bears, they occupy the safari themed zone of the park.

I’ll admit to being reminded of Ben’s ‘too much detail’ rant halfway through attempting to paint all ten at once, but they are done enough and have even made it onto the table!

The game! Lance didn’t get around to painting his minis, or building them actually, so he borrowed an Operators crew. Ah well, mine were done!

I like the game so far, Wasteland Warfare is great but not easy to get into, Factions feels much leaner and faster by comparison. I’m not sure it has the same narrative depth but it will appeal to players who want something lighter and less overwhelming.

Our game was fun and chaotic. It was my first time playing and Lance’s second so many mistakes were made, both tactically and with rules!

Lance’s Operators are a ranged crew so obviously I foolishly gave him the high ground. The Pack are a close up and personal lot so I had to focus on bum rushing across the field before he made swiss cheese out of my entire crew.

The Operator missile launcher is bullsh*t.

Fortunately if you can get the Pack Incinerator into range it is also bullsh*t! I lost half the crew on the way in but Flambe went on a rampage round 3 and turned it around into a narrow win. Looking forward to playing again!

First entry in awhile, and it is bears! Mangy, radioactive, angry bears as seen beating up Knights in power armour. Rawr.

One is rad-burned but otherwise a normal Yao Guai. The other is a ‘glowing one’ hence the sickly green tones and lots of boils. It hasn’t come out quite as glowing as I was aiming for but I think I got the sickly not-right look.

After a long break between new minis (played a fair few games since though), I picked up the Institute core set and have been trucking through it.

First up, have the Gen 1 Synths.

This kit is from TTCombat and is a very wallet friendly way to add some flexible ruins to my table.  Each house can split into two halves which is very useful!
