About the Project
Got the book in a sale. Loved the kitbash fun that OnTableTop had during the launch week. Had a model in mind and built before I bought the book. Now just crowbarring the mini into a list and building around her.

Knucklebone Nexuses
Dark brown prime, Wraithbone heavy drybrush then contrast paint. I used a flesh, dune and skeleton coloured contrast over each drybrush and they were almost complete.
The eyes were red over the whole eyeball, and orange oval towards the middle and a black slit pupil.
I picked the bones on the back and the claws out with wrathbone.
I feel sorry for these creatures. They are not born of this world, barely cope with the atmosphere and climate and constantly have blood and ooze hanging from each eye.Nexuses - Complete
These look formidable. I think they'll match the type of imposing opponents that the game intends.
There's enough different about them to ID them on the battlefield I believe.
I know I could spend a few more minutes on each of them to make elements pop, but I am happy enough to move on to the next elements of making a game of The Doomed a reality.
Nexuses - The Scheme
Went for a similar scheme to the big Tyranid. Went for the watered down Shyish Purple contrast to start. Then Emperor's Children pink stripes and knocked back with Carroburg Crimson all over.
The flick of blood and gore is a piece of thin transparent clothes tag super glued to the talon and covered with Blood for the Blood God paint.Nexuses
I have built and primed the 3 Von Ryan's Leapers from the front of a "Combat Patrol" magazine.Each Horror (Monster) have 3 Nexuses each battle so this works out just fine. I also read that there are “minions” that drift in to spoil your day, if fighting these things weren’t challenging enough. Will give those some thought.
Very tempted to get the Blood and Zeal box set. The religious ones will fit into one of the factions fine enough and the sketchy looking culty things can be the minions. They have metal legs. Marshall Bravenboer has metal legs. I feel some interesting backstory coming together.
Options - Legionnaire Clouseau
Tried some subtle OSL but maybe it was too subtle. 
The left arm is from the Frostgrave female Cultist sprue. The body is from the female scavenger sprue and the blaster arm is from the Lost Patrol scout sprue. The kit slung under the arm came from the Female Cultist sprue as well. The backpack was made from 3 smaller sundries glued together from the female scavenger sprue.
The name was simply because this mini is searching for something with her torch held high and has found a gooey and bloody clue on her base. Also having a torch when you're perhaps trying to sneak up on a monster seems like a comedic (or potentially fatal) thing to do.Monsters - Finished
Added to same style of basing as my monster hunters. Also went around the beast again using subtle pink stripes to make the patterning pop 
Happy with the final look. Feels like I should add something more dramatic to the base, but will worry about that another time.Monsters - The scheme
WiP. I got a couple of the GW 40K magazines with the minis on the front. I imagine that Tyranids will make a good Monster option.
All the ridged fleshy areas (the long thin ridged eyelet ovals that look like maybe a chunk in the armour) I paintes with a thin coat of Mephiston Red. I coated the model in a thin coat of water and painted all the flesh parts with Shish Purple contrast.Then all the carapace harder areas got several thin lines of Xereus Purple. The zenith prime did a lot of good work, but it also meant the the purple stripes on some of the darker areas were lost. I added a Carroburg Crimson shade to all the wing parts. All the bone parts had a thin Zandri Dust base, a Seraphim Sepia wash and a Wraithbone drybrush / highlight.
On the finished version you might be able to see the thin stripes I added in Emperor’s Children pink to bring out the stripes more.
Marshall Bravenboer
Marshall Bravestarr was a fun cartoon as a kid. This is my Marshall for my all female warband. So the name makes her stand out with a surname not a first name.
Ancestral Blade. Weird writing. Purple. Fun.
