    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • Only a bit more than 3 weeks for shopping. Have you finished shopping yet?

And now back to the show.

Pledge: Paint stuff, send stuff, do stuff!

Answer: No. But almost. Promise! Don’t push me!

Music: No music this week but a recommendation Gerry had put out on the weekender. Go watch it. It’s good.

Everyone knows that you only shop for presents on the day before Christmas.

If you buy too early then you can’t return it should it be a failure.

I did myself presents though … but they’re for me, myself and I.

@sundancer no link to the Hobbit video that was recommended by the almighty one?

That secret knowledge is not for this world.

Also I kind find the bloody link XD

Pledge: Paint some of the Carneval stuff I never touched last week.

I’m at that point in life where no one knows what to buy anyone, so we ask what someone wants, or exchange pieces of paper with numbers on it.

are those papers green ? and does it involve digital watches ? 😉
and do they make you happy ?

and yeah … the stuff I’d want is either too niche or something I’d most likely will buy myself the moment I want/need it anyway.

I would love to buy something for my nephews and nieces, but I wouldn’t know what to get them without a list either. I know they are ok with not getting anything (but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if they got something either 😀 … ’cause free stuff is free stuff).

Pledge – To finish Nobvember strong, just the Deff Dread to start painting. Unfortunately, the Snazwagon isn’t turning up until the December dispatch of Combat Patrol, as I’m slightly behind the delivery schedule because I signed up late. Therefore, Nobvember won’t be complete on time, which is sad. I might have to merge in a little of Dakkacember. Once the Dread is done, I need to finish up the bases and find an Ork HQ because I also missed out on that model due to the late sign-up. Hurrah!

The Christmas preparation progress so far is at 0%

Pledge: finished my Giftmas and it’s inbound now, and my first mob of Orks from last week, so this week: a mad conversion idea I’ve been holding onto.

Shopping: all done. I always get it done super early as I loathe malls and the hordes of the people they attract.

Pledge: Finish off some teams for my FLGS to use as starter games. I’ll also be finishing off my 2nd ed. team.

Question: Pfft! 3 weeks of shopping? That’s an amatuer’s calendar. When you start the clock with 364 (5 in leap year) you know what kind of game you’re playing in. Its just like Carneval for Rio de Janeiro, you get this year’s production done and start on the plans for the next. It normally takes into account shit hitting the fan around June as its too damn hot to think as your tenders are soaked in the sweat of weakness and desperation while you debate life choices come December. Giftmas is a time when even the currents of the underworld get a little twitchy. For as threatening as the answering service in the John Wick universe may look you haven’t seen anything like an angry elf, hopped up on eggnog and cocaine, that has been told her 12 hour shift is extended after answering the desperate calls of parents trying to get in touch with The Big Guy. Tinsel can be lethal, felt and sequin outfits hide the glint of carefully hidden steel, and candy canes…. well.. you can just imagine.

All of this is the reason I do my shopping early and afford the time to sit on my butt worry free for part of the year.

Now since I’ve messed with some people’s heads as of late I’ll just pull something a bit more humorous

    @horati0nosebl0wer

woe to thee, who mixes the fluff and the metal, for, it is said: that way lies madness!

but damn, it was well mixed.

Mystery Box from TT Combat Arrived.

    IMG_20251201_131142

This is the junk. Some rifles, orc heads, dice for nothing I own, mdf terrain that is scrap mdf really, a rumbleslam player called Sir Cumfrence and the Carnevale Art Book that I got with the kickstarter I backed.

    IMG_20251201_131130

The paint… two cans of primer and 10 pots of army painter paint (8 Air and 1 warpaint and 1 metalic), plus a tt combat paint. I like the metallic and luckily have an airbrush, so I will use these and don’t have any of the specific shades.

    IMG_20251201_131113

Some SF Terrain scatter, lots of resin spiders, goblin axemen, elf queen, necromancer, two bits of basing stuff, two bags of resin bases (35mm & 40mm).

As I suspected, most of the value is in the paints.

This week’s pledge is to wait for the December painting topic to get picked, then get started on it.

    • Only a bit more than 3 weeks for shopping. Have you finished shopping yet? – Barely done any, but the plan is to get it done this week. I’ve been asking people what they want already so I know what to get in most cases.

Pledge:  Get on with another unit of Speedpaint Romans.  I’m just ordering a mini for the PaintComp and might be able to get that started this week too.

Answer:  Unusually, no.  I’m normally pretty organised and we use lists with immediate family so ordering is easier.  I’ve got some, including the Iron Halo Strike Force my youngest wanted.  Thank you Element Games, who had them in their London bricks and mortar store when Warhammer shops don’t and you can’t get one online for love nor money.

@pagan8th  Thanks for showing the contents of the TT mystery box.  I’m always temped by those type of offers, even though more random miniatures or extra projects are the last thing I need.  It seems this one has a lot of stuff for the money but mostly just clearing out duff inventory.  I’m glad there were some bits in there you can use.

@grantinvanman I hope to drive our dear @sundancer mad by the end of the month… or atleast strain his fragile grip on sanity as Christmas comes barreling at us all. I say this and pointedly don’t mention a particular fried German Christmas treat that I promised not to speak of as it would trigger a member of his family to immediately hunt it down to consume. 😉

@pagan8th You say the value is in the paints and I would say it sits in the bases as well. With Secret Weapon gone, stock and rights to produce taken up by Elrik’s Hobbies, those bases and the rest of the resin are worth the cash.

@danlee I think that with the theme picked now you’ll have some good things to play around with in your head.

@zoidpinhead Having a shortlist for purchases is great to ease stress. The fact that you want a hot gift like so many other people is the inverse. I’ve heard some of the guys at my FLGS talk about that over their sessions of HALO with excitement that I’m sure would be on par.

On with making the Tim as crazy as Ludwig II
