Atomic Mass Games Clarify The Future Of Star Wars: Shatterpoint
February 27, 2026 by brennon
Atomic Mass Games has now clarified its position on the future of its 40mm scale Sci-Fi skirmish game, Star Wars: Shatterpoint. You can find their full announcement HERE.
Star Wars: Shatterpoint // Atomic Mass Games
The announcement covers the fact that now that Star Wars: Shatterpoint has covered the prequels, original movies and the sequels (soon), they feel like it has achieved its aim. There are now over 130 characters for you to choose from when you dive into Star Wars: Shatterpoint. With that in mind, they appear to be releasing what is still on their slate for 2026 but once that's done, the releases will be finished.
That means we'll be getting Alone With Friends, We Are The Spark, On My Command and I Will Finish What You Started for the sequel movies (Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren etc), introducing a lot of the core characters from those movies. We will also be getting Secure The Future and My Loyalty, My Life, based on the Ahsoka series. Lastly, the prequel Squad Box for The Negotiations Will Be Short will also come out, featuring a young Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn.
That's still seven boxed sets of miniatures (see them here) lined up for the rest of this year and possibly even 2027. After that, it seems like we won't be seeing any new miniatures...
"We remain fully committed to supporting and shepherding this game that continues to captivate players and bring action and excitement to their tabletops. Shatterpoint will continue to receive regular game rule updates and an annual character balance to ensure players the most enjoyable and fun experience possible. With a preview of the next Shatterpoint character rebalance to be presented during the AdeptiCon Roadmap presentation."
We might still be surprised by something later on down the line but it feels like Atomic Mass Games now has an endpoint in mind and they're aiming for that. This doesn't bother me too much, as I already have loads of Star Wars: Shatterpoint and I play it primarily with my friends. So, not having endless new miniatures on the horizon isn't so bad.
I have enough terrain to play, all of the accessories, dice and cards and with the balance updates still coming, new tactics to get my head around. Is it a shame to see the miniature line coming to an end, though? Yes. I would have loved to see Palpatine, the Royal Guard, some Gungans, and Droideka but that's where the wider community could step in.
We shall have to see how this all shakes out but I'm not quite as mad as other folks on the internet seem to be right now. Maybe I'll be eating my hat in a year.
What do you think?

Mesa thinking no Jar-Jar is mega-bad!
As a ‘collection’ … yes. They’ve got almost every character that mattered.
well … except for Jar Jar, Yoda and Palpatine himself.
AMG really really needs to work on their messaging, because the corporate newspeak really read like they starting a fire sale (and I suspect shops will treat it like that).
To me that is the real mistake here.
Not every game needs endless amounts of new stuff.
What we do need is a way for us to introduce new players into the game without having to worry if either core box or specific expansions will be available.
Agreed; corp-speak is just so … circular. And dull. And based on quarterly results for shareholders. Blech.
Outside of the custom measurement sticks and dice, the fact that you could have a full force with 2 boxes (~100 dollars) is great. There is more than enough stuff too… though I will be sad if there isn’t an Emperor Palpatine.
They flubbed the message but saying “here is the end point” with plenty of notice is a good thing. So long as they can keep everything in stock over the next few months/year so players can pick up everything if they want to, I like this. As a player. I feel bad for retailers though – why would you ever stock a Star Wars game again after years of Asmodee killing titles through its various wings???
These guys had a very interesting talk about that subject from their point of view as a store. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krXE-tZyc7E
That was a good show. Thanks for the link!
I agree with most of the other comments here. They kind of blew it on how they made the announcement, but the news itself is fine. Although everyone is going to have a favorite character that never made it into the game (personally I was hoping for the cast of the Young Han Solo movie), there are plenty of choices for squad-building and I suspect they would eventually run into a problem with new squad boxes being too similar to old ones.
