Little bit past the deadline…but im done! My trench board is finished.

Ok its not 100% finished, I have plenty of ideas for bits of scatter terrain, wrecks, ruins, bombed trees, barbed wire and so on to add to the board. But for the purposes of terrain fest,  my board is finished!

What have i learned from this experience?

1) Definitely could have made the board lighter, didn’t need such thick battens to give it strength

2) I could have flipped the boards over and made the scenery within the frame i made, would have given the board nice solid edges to but up against each other (which would have saved hassle in having to add more ply on the edges). Plus would have made the boards a couple inches thinner which would help with storage.

3) Sandbags…..either find clay the colour that you want them to be, or add them to the board and spray them before you paint the rest of the board….that was not an enjoyable experience

4) add the resin pools last. As you can see the resin water effects are a bit dusty from where i’ve been spraying the board to give the mud a bit of colour variation. It’s not the end of the world though, they will be cleanable and in the worst case scenarion, ill just get a bit more resin and pour another thin layer of the top.

5) Make smaller boards. Whilst I am happy with what ive done, I think maybe i should have done them as 2×2 ft boards rather then 4×2 ft. Partly to increase modularity…but mostly because the boards i’ve made are a bit weighty

6) Probably some other stuff as well, but thats all i can think off so far

I was hoping to have pictures of a battle report to add in this post, but unfortunately i wasn’t able to get a game in, so for now enjoy some set up shots of Trench Crusade models!
