About the Project
Last year’s Spring Clean Challenge was all the motivation the we needed to get a full game painted and ready for the tabletop, so we decided to try do it again! This year we are blowing the dust off of our Moonstone collection.

Another Spring Clean Challenge, another game that needs dusted off.
Oh no, another collection to paint?
Last year’s Spring Clean Challenge was great motivation for us to finally get my Judge Dredd collection painted and on the table. Mrs Pigmoo was nice enough to put many of her projects on hold and spend several months helping me finish one of my games. As much as I love painting Sci-fi, it’s only fair that we tackle a fantasy game that she wants to play this year. Looks like we are dusting off our Moonstone collection that has been sitting in our pile of shame for a while. We started working on this some time ago, and got sidetracked as other games and projects came up. This collection is not quite as big as last years at 52 miniatures. As we started working on this two weeks ago, we had a few finished, a few assembled, and most of them NIB. We spent a weekend snipping, cleaning, and assembling and are finally ready to start painting. Also, while on a day trip to Harrisburg for a St. Paddy’s Day concert, we found a awesome FLGS called Lazarus Games that’s sells Moonstone, so there is a good chance that the collection may continue to grow during the challenge!
We started with assembling and basing everything that we currently had. We wanted to base all of the minis similarly to tie the collection together, but opted not to 3D print them this year. We cut small irregular cobblestones out of Star Wars Shatterpoint boxes and used them along with scale model bricks and slate. We wanted to have some Moonstones on a few of the bases, so we painted a few pieces of fishtank gravel. We held it all together with some Vallejo texture paste. We were ready to prime and get started.
With everything built, cleaned, and based we can finally start painting! While Mrs Pigmoo is finishing a Space Gits gang that she is close to finishing, I decided to start on the Goblin Airship.
I started with a black rattle can prime and followed up with a coat of Taupe airbrush primer to lighten the skin. I am using Army Painter Air colors for the base coats and a mix of AK 3rd Gen, Pro Acryl, and Army Painter Fanatic paints for the brush work.
