RAAAH! All this teasing, please can I have it? I need to paint something, otherwise I’ll start painting my house and we can’t have productive use of our time now can we!
I love warpath because u brought out space dwarfs. Its been rumoured for years that they existed and finally we have the army
they bring the fire and the pain
warpath rules are great because it is exspandable so we can collect units for years to come
think of all those Dwarfs IN SPACE
the rule set is awsome and easy to grasp so someone like me who is busy with life and work can get in game or 2 and not invests hours but you we will.
the hammer forged is our tool
the armor made to keep us strong
remeber the ancestors mighty they where
our path is right we do no wrong
Go Forge Fathers!!!!
Warpath!! Which is exactly what my wife will be on if I bring anymore plastic soldiers into the house…
I love Warpath because;
1) It is made by Mantic, and the miniatures Mantic have made are some of the best i have seen, and lets not forget the cost of them.
2) In mantic’s own words “At Mantic Games, we are always looking to do things better.”
3) last but not least “It’s in space”.
Awesome deals from a company that actually cares about its fans? Plastic models with tons of options for converting? Easy rules that my young cousins can learn quickly and actually play games with? SPACE DWARFS!!1!!111!!!!1!!1
What other reason do I need? You guys have me excited for a game release for the first time…..
I think my first Marauder character will be named Darrel. Darrel… in…spaaaaaaace!
And as we know, everything is better in space!
PS: Ooooh, space nappies!
Darrel in Space has a theme tune …..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iab9YKocUcw
Even paths are better in spaaaace.
I like Warpath, because for a while now, there has not been a high quality alternative to 40k for large space battles. It is nice to see the company growing and diversifying. (and also being much more affordable than most other games on the market)
I love Warpath because it finally means I can convince my friends to play enourmous Sci Fi battles!
Because the gauge in the Warpath logo goes over 40.000.
And also because of its amazing sense of humour.
No-one but Mantic would give us Dwarfs who can move almost as fast as other races that’s right ladies and gentlemen in a vacuum even dwarfs feel light!!
Mantic………… in SPACE!
dwarfs………… in SPACE!
seriously, this game is going to be very nice, easy to lern but hard to master, rather cheap, with a load of variety! you do not need tons of books to look throuh, you do not have tons of rules that have to be clarified… simple, fun…
the concept arts look great.
i´m not gonna be disappointed if i dont win, couse i´m gonna buy it anyway! but i´d be very happy to own my copy of warpath, thats signed!
you guys are great, ceep on doing waht you do, couse this is good stuff!
Mantic got me back into wargaming after 10 years away, and just as I was looking into starting a sci fi army warpath appeared, I’m starting to wonder if Ronnie’s business skill are bolstered by his telepathy or if its the other way round.
Warpath is awesome because:
1) 90%(or more) time can be spent playing the game instead of redundantly measuring movement for each little guy in the squad.
2) The human expansionist tactics mimic those of our own world, or in other words evil humans in space.
3) I don’t have to buy 12 $30+ codexes to know what the opposing armies are capable of.
4) Dwarves in space, need anyone say more?
Avatars of War took my interest, but my extensive wargaming group and others in my area are more into sci-fi games. Me and my brother are testing the beta rules for a few days now, and we absolutely love it. This prize would be the perfect thing to get alot of people in our area into a nice alternative to the 40K universe.
And of course Marauders in space are just too cool to pass up.
Warpath!, the british empire in space!,a galaxy at war, take part in massive planetary conflict or play out the famous battle of Orc’s Drift, the possibilities are endless, add to this the epic background story, the solid and easy to play rules, the value for money and the high quality of the miniatures, it all adds up to something very special. And with the great team at Mantic and Beasts of War i’m sure they can take Warpath to the final frontier!
This is why i can’t wait for WARPATH!
Hundreds of lasers, bombs, bfgs, tanks and aircrafts for cheap, with good minis and interesting background, who doesn´t love that.
Why?
1) I like the game mechanics to be streamlined and clean
2) It seems, that the game will actually be sci-fi, not “fantasy with lazors” – despite the fantasy races
3) Emphasis on troops, guns and morale – not heroes with huuuge swords
I love Warpath as it is so much simpler and more flixable to learn and use than other wargaming rule sets (not mentioning any names… )
Allowing more flexibility with rules leads to more fun when playing!
Having played several games now, I am absolutely hooked- I’m even going to call my first Marauder Fighter “Big Bronze Stag” in honour of the …erm, big bronze stag ornament I used to represent it on the battlefield! Looking forward to collecting the miniatures for this- already a massive fan of Kings of War, as are my twins. I love how the rules themselves work- simplified with out being “dumbed down” at all, and we’ve played a few games using different troop types to get a good feel of the rules and troop types- so far Marauders definitely did the best when maxed out with Heavies and Grunt-shifters!! I think that’s the army I’m going to collect first especially as I have never felt sufficiently motivated to collect sci fi orcs before!! Can’t wait to see the concept art and models for the other races too, especially fromthe p.o.v. of a miniature painting studio. If I could sum Warpath (and for that matter, KoW and Mantic) up in one word, it would be “Refreshing”.
Why Mantics WarPath? I have been playing 40K sense the days of Rouge Trader (still have my copy of it). I have seen the 40k world go from a game of endless possibilitys, To a closed world of dictatorial nonsense. A game where you can have cheap minis and tanks (always a gear head ), to the highest priced minis on the market, from using any minis you have, to than needing that they be at least 75% GW, To now GW only Minis. The whole time the little guys keep falling away, because of Price, rules, or some GW person telling them that the ( first IG ) plastic mini with a Tamaya WWII aficancor cap and backpack is not aloud in there games. To watch this 14 year old boy look at them , after spending all that time and money , making this army look like a german Armor force mixing GW IG minis with WWII stuff from other model companies. To having some parttime GW guy tell him to leave the Store, It broke the kids heart. With WarPath its a clean slate , no minis yet , no set rules , just gamers moving into a new world of possibilities. A company willing to put there Ideal of a Game on the market, to let gamers help make the rules, test them, and break them, but to also listen to the gamers, there Ideals ( no matter how far out there they mybe ) in making the game. And the whole time tring to keep the price down, so a young kid can work cutting the grass, to buy his first army to paint, and play with his friends. So Why? WarPath, I say WHY NOT WARPATH. The endless possibilities Empires, Corporations, Races, and yes maybe even Sharkmen/Fishmen IN SPACE. To be here at this time in the beginning just AWESOME!!!! thank you Mantic Games and BoW.
As a set of rules, Warpath is elegant in its simplicity, but with a scope that encompasses pretty much the full range of warfare options. There’s no feeling that support for vehicles or aircraft etc has been ‘tacked on’ afterwards, and the unit types in the beta seem well balanced from the get go. My only reservation? Orcs and Dwarves. In Space. It just doesn’t sound like it should work. Send me some models and prove me wrong 😉
I like Warpath cuz its not from GW !!!
I love Warpath because:-
Mantic have taken the essentials – what everyone wants from a sci-fi game – and blended it into a quick and easy game that can be enjoyed on a variety of scales; from skirmish level all the way up to mammoth battles for the lives of millions of peoples. This ability to scale the game means that not only do we have a game which is going to be great for those who are familiar with the large scales, but also new players just getting started in the world of being a hobbyist. Removing that daunting price tag and the ”well you have to have this, and this, and this” from a table top game makes it a great way for people to get involved and experience the same thrill as those playing battles with hundreds of models on the table.
Not only this but Warpath is giving us a fantastic lore to build our armies from, allowing us (through its easy to learn mechanics) to spin a wonderfully diverse and interesting scenario that isn’t hampered by the need to keep things rigid and cemented in one way of fighting. Building on this there is the interesting point Alessio mentioned of looking back at our history, myth and legend and applying it to the grand galactic stage – having the Forgefathers for example based in this Norse mythology is something that I truly love and has made me think about them in a whole different way to just ”dwarfs in space”. The same applies to the Marauders who are not just the mindless barbarians that other companies would have us believe – but truly changing the idea of what an ‘Orc’ is and giving us something new and inventive to play around with.
And there we go – that’s why I love Warpath. Good luck with everything in the future and I hope that their wargaming goes from strength to strength.
I don’t know that I love it yet, but I love Kings of War, I love Ronny’s models, and I love Alessio’s games, also Mantic are not Games Workshop so I love that too. Keep fighting the good 32mm fight.
I love Warpath because 10 minutes are enough to learn the rules and start playing!
I love warpath because…
…long ago in an age now forgotten by humanity I fought beside the earth’s guardians to defeat a great evil and cast it to the void beyond. I was then put into stasis within an impenetrable glacier by the wise masters of that antideluvian age until such time as the earth needed me once more…
Obviously that time is now.
Where does Warpath come into it? Well the wise masters were sort of squat(!) and beardy with large beam weapons and the great evil was sort of green and hunched over and drooled a bit…
Well, let’s say you’ve really hit a cord of nostalgia for me eh? Besides, everyone needs a hobby…
I Love Warpath……..
because it’s not WARHAMMER 40K
OK, first of all, who dosen’t like space dwarfs? It’s all that me and my mates talk about now.
Secondly, we can plays kings of warpath! (kings of war vs warpath)
And lastly, Mantic is a great company who make my friends stop whining about how expensive GW is.
Mantic have effectively tapped into all the generation groups of gamers, bringing to the fore balanced slick rules sytems that are challenging but also easy to pick up and run with. This has got to be a win for gamers old and new! Our gaming club has picked up the mantic flag and ran with it from day one, big big fans. They have also developed armies that the gamers want including some long lost favourites #cough# Space Dwarfs #cough# and this has been the biggest talking point in wargaming this year……..
All the bases are covered, the fans love it, the industry loves it (the industry needs it!) and everyone is sure that Warpath is going to be the biggest thing to be launched this year from any manufacturer, as KOW was last year. Mantics success and growth proves this and I for one salute you guys! It takes alot putting a smile on this grumpy old fart of a gamer, must just be getting old, but keep it all coming as you cannot have too much of a good thing….
Things seem to be just getting better and better when you are on the Warpath…………Happy Days.
B, F, G’s! Gotta love the big guns!
This is something I’ve been waiting to see Mantic do ever since I found out about their KoW miniatures and game, as I love sci-fi stuff. And they’re doing what should always be done with games rules; they’re making them simple and fun!
And with Mantic’s ideal of giving value for money in their boxes of minis, this is going to be a great game to collect for. I won’t have to buy several sets just to make up the numbers, I could get what I need for a decent price and still have some flexibility in how the squad is formed. I think it’s a great direction to go in; having as few rules as possible and leaving the larger amounts of text to read for the background instead. When you buy a new game you want to play it after a quick read of the rules, not sit bemused at around 100 pages of things that seem to ignore common sense (a tank has to see whether it can drive over rubble in 40K-it’s a tank, it’s designed to drive over rocks, cars, anything!), and where Alessio and Ronnie said you can split your fire between targets, I knew this is going to be game I won’t have to make sense of myself in order to play it, which is great!
I may be the only guy so far who wants to play as the evil Corporation, mwuahahahaha, evil! I can’t wait to see what the human models will look like and, like everyone else, I also want to get Dwarves in……Spaaaaaaaace! With visible legs! And kick-ass BFGs! The Norse influence will be awesome as I love Norse mythology and will look forward to naming my Forgefather hero as Sven Magnus Magnusson and to shouting “By Odin’s beard!” a lot, perhaps when losing! Or just randomly too 🙂
I love Warpath because everything is better in space.
This probably won’t win me any prizes but here’s what I honestly like about Warpath:
“Warpath is basically what Warhammer 40,000′s 3rd edition would have been in a better world.”
This is from my litte review of the Warpath beta rules. You can read the full article here: http://sigur.tabletopgeeks.com/warpath-first-impressions-of-mantics-upcoming-sci-fi-tabletop-wargame/
After all I´ve seen so far, what I really like about Warpath is that it replaces the red tape of other established games with red-hot carnage and destruction. Splendid.
Warpath is more than Mantic’s new game. It seems to be their company marketing strategy. First they said that we could have large armies for a fraction of the cost. Then they bring one of the best writers on board and change the way we look at warfare in a fantasy setting. They are taking the hobby we know and love, and making us part of the process. Mantic has been very open with the public and taking our concerns and feedback and incorporating them into their games so we, as their customer base, GET WHAT WE WANT!!! BoW Warren has said many times that we needed a company to help us “take our hobby back” and Mantic is it. So why do I love Warpath? Besides being a great game that I feel is catering to our desires and is open to feedback, but just hearing the name makes me feel like this is our flagship for changing the way game companies will operate and interact with the gaming community. Mantic has in fact taken the community and set it on the “Warpath.” No longer will we be kept in the dark and quietly wait for the next broken product to come out, now we will stand proudly and know that when you open your wallet for a Mantic product, we will be getting quality. Warpath, Kings of War, and Dwarf King’s Hold are games of choice for me. Thank you Mantic!!
(oh, and when I saw the concept art for the Warpath stuff….I got SOOO excited….I might have peed alittle.)
I love Warpath because, I’ve not seen a single models yet, I’ve not read any official background, the rules are still unfinished, but it has gotten me excited about toy soldiers again!
Mantic, as a company have gone from strength to strength with Kings of War and their pledge to bring big armies of finely detailed toy soldiers at an affordable price to the gamer, and now they’re doing it IN SPACE!!!
And most of all, I love Warpath because it will bring the fun back to science fiction wargaming.
*Heroic, rallying speech tone*
No longer will the will the money from our wallets be squandered on overprices models!
No longer will we be bound to torment and death by over complex rules!
No longer will we have to settle for skirmish scale battles when in our hearts we yearn for WAR!
We will rally our legions (of reasonably prices soldiers), we will march onto the field of battle, our weapons at the ready. We will let out the call, and all across the galaxy, people will know that sci-fi battles of legendary proportions can be had.
We are Mantic Fanatics, and we march to WARPATH!

The picture is meant to be this:
To say I love Warpath because it’s not Games Workshop and it’s not 40k is partially true but it’s not fair on Mantic or the hard work you’ve put in. Yes, 40k is everywhere and aside from any issues about The Corporation there’s that awful catch 22 that no-one plays anything else because no-one is playing anything else. People are genuinely interested in playing other games but because it’s such an expensive hobby and they’re so heavily invested in “the other game” it’s hard to break out but that’s why I love not just Warpath but Kings of War too. Finally we have a viable alternative.
If Kings of War is anything to go by, Warpath is the kick up the backside the industry needs, fast, straight forward rules with great miniatures at an affordable price. Not only is it some welcome competition in a stagnant market but at only 16 pages of rules that’s got to break down some barriers with the control pad wielding youth and maybe revitalise our hobby a bit. Exciting times ahead!
Choose me! 😀
I am a passionate gamer, and the actions and prices of certain other companies have left me disappointed and out of pocket with very little to show for it, then approximately 1 year ago I stumbled across Mantic Games, which I will more than happily argue are easily the best war-gaming company out there today.
I love Mantic Games because they provide me with all the enjoyment of a tabletop wargame that I have adored since I first explored this hobby nearly 15 years ago. Why is that? I will tell you why… Because I enjoy to field visually appealing armies of immense sizes, because I enjoy to paint hundreds of miniatures and watch as they advance up a beautifully crafted gaming board and because I can afford them. And lets not forget the rules…
The Kings of War rules, and of course the brand new Warpath, are not just a breath of fresh air, but a gale force wind of apocalyptic awesomeness. Not only are they available to anyone for free, but you can pick up a copy and within the space of 20 minutes (or more if your drooling over the superb concept art on every page) you can understand how to play your very first game. And when I did just that, I was impressed, I mean seriously impressed. Even the Alpha Test rules had me hooked and wanting to play again.
The game is very fast paced, and very little can get in the way of your enjoyment as you pick up no less than 40 (yes 40) dice and watch as your opponents face drops as your dice hit the table, and I’m sure you can agree, the more dice the better :). Warpath is a fluid game, where time is against you, forcing you to play at least one turn ahead of your opponent, making you think and not just simply measuring distances and rolling dice. You get a level of excitement in a game that can only be achieved by a brilliantly written, highly tactical yet simple to learn war-game.
Last but not least, the miniatures that you guys produce are stunning, being a proud owner of a huge undead army for Kings of War, and soon to be the loved and long awaited Forgefathers Supreme Commander I have longed to be for many years. The concept images on the Beta Ruleset are fantastic, with amazing detail and a sense of realism to them that you dont get in most other miniatures companies. I will most certainly await in anticipation to see the models myself and enjoy the many hours ahead of me assembling and painting them in the near future 🙂
So I love Warpath, and I would love the honour of receiving this highly desired prize as a beginning to my huge collection of Warpath miniatures I will no doubt be saving up for (not that I have to save up much of course)
I love you Mantic Games 🙂 You bring back the fun in, what to me is the greatest hobby of all time. And that is what makes Warpath the greatest
Warpath rocks my planet!
A long time ago on a wargames table far far away…..
It is a period of civil war.
Rebel d6’s, striking
from Mantic Towers, have won
their first Warpath victory against
the evil Darth Workshop in the 8th turn.
During the battle, Mantic warpathians
managed to destroy secret
plans to the Empire’s
ultimate weapon, the WALLET
KILLER, a plastic space
station with enough power
to destroy a gamers piggy bank!.
Pursued by Darth Workshop’s
sinister agents, Prince Ronnie
races to Mantic Towers aboard his
gamermobile, custodian of the
warpath rules that can save his
people and restore
freedom to the galaxy….
Well I like that you made the Humans as the evil ones.
In all the games I’ve played humans are always the heroes or at least the good guys, so I like the spin you made there.
Streamlined rules, buckerloads of dice and premium Miniatures at a great price. That says it all about Warpath and Mantic
I like Warpath cause the core rules give 40k a run for it’s money. My main reason for leaning towards Warpath and KoW is because they have ONE developer in charge of lists and army rules. I originally just loved the undead models, but since the release of KoW, Alessio (spelling?) has worked really hard to try and make a game that is balanced across all factions. Mantic does not get enough credit for this….aside from the models, this is what makes Warpath so exciting. I finally have a reason to to pull out my 40k orc army again. No codex creep? No Cheese? You mean I can work on tactics? It’s not perfect by any means, but they are trying.
I really enjoy Warpath because of the speed. There just isn’t another sci-fi wargame that plays this quickly with this many troops.
I love Warpath because Alessio looks like Jean Reno from the film Léon.
I wont win then, I’ll be honest. They had an opportunity to brake the mold and make their own thing in here and they missed this chance. All Mantic is right now is a way for GW boycotters to give GW the finger.
that’s a bad thing?????!!
Dear Mantic,
I wanted to write this love note to you with a yes or no for you to circle, but alas this must suffice….
I have wanted a new sci-fi war game to replace my 40k hobby and then Beasts of War combined with Mantic to give us Alpha! I beat these rules up between Alpha and Beta. It’s fast, brutal and so much damn fun! The chess timer added a whole new way to look at playing a miniature game. It not only adds a depth of strategy but it makes you feel like your commanding an army in the heat of battle!
Most of all I’d love to be the owner of the first child you give to the gaming community, signed, shipped, and named by Mantic.
I will raise this miniatures to be armies of greatness. Paint them with love and the detail they deserve. When they are finished other people will aspire to be like them.
Thank you Mantic for bringing something new to the table,
Sincerely yours,
Erik
P.S. Please circle YES or NO if you would like me to raise your first arm box
P.P.S I promise to send you pictures on our vacations.
P.P.P.S I promise we will drink lots of beer together when they are old enough.
Loved what Mantic did with King’s of War!!!
Add Dwarves in space with some really BIG GUNS and you have a great game in the making. This coupled with the fact that Mantic’s minis look great and it is a no brainer!!!!
You do not have to be a “Rocket-Surgeon” to want to pick up this game.
You guys are doing a great job, keep them coming!!!
3 simple reasons :
FAST – EASY TO LEARN – EPIC
I am really looking forward to Warpath. Why? Well…….
1. It is nice to be in on the ground floor of a new game.
2. It is nice that Mantic has the rules open to Alpha and Beta testing and that our feedback counts!
3. The concept art is great and I am really, really looking forward to seeing the actual models.
4. I like the way mantic does business. I really hope that both Warparth and KoW take off in the gaming community.
5. I am looking forward to the Adepticon 2012 Warpath tournaments!
6. Alessio is one of my favorite designers, so that makes Warpath even more exciting.
I cannot wait for the box set release!
Why do I love Warpath?
well Because…
*a familiar song beings to play*
I wanna be the very best!
Like no one ever was,
To Crush them is my real test.
To Terrorize is my cause!
I will travel across these lands,
Searching far and wide.
Each Marauder to understand,
The power that’s inside!
Marauders, its you and me.
I know it’s my destiny!
Marauders, oh, you’re my best friend,
In a world we must defend.
Marauders, our hearts so true,
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I’ll teach you,
Ma-rau-ders!
gotta crush ’em all…
gotta crush ’em all…
*oh yeah*
Every challenge along the way,
With courage I will face.
I will battle every day,
To claim my rightful place!
Come with me, the time is right.
There’s no better team,
Arm in arm we’ll win the fight!
It’s always been our dream!
Marauders, its you and me.
I know it’s my destiny!
Marauders, oh, you’re my best friend,
In a world we must defend.
Marauders, our hearts so true,
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I’ll teach you,
Ma-rau-ders!
gotta crush ’em all…
gotta crush ’em all…
gotta crush ’em all…
gotta CRUSH ’em all…
gotta crush ’em all…
YEAH!
*epic guitar solo*
Marauders, its you and me.
I know it’s my destiny!
Marauders, oh, you’re my best friend,
In a world we must defend.
Marauders, our heart so true,
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I’ll teach you,
Ma-rau-ders!
gotta crush ’em all…
gotta crush ’em all!
oh yeah…
and that’s why I love warpath (^_^)
I love warpath because its built for bigger games and it takes about as long to learn the rules and play your first game as it does to open the box, cos you don’t have to wait for the box, you can read through the rules now, without spending £25 or more on a rulebook that’s going to be obsolete in a year or two by a new set that insists its compatible with expansions from the previous edition or army lists from the one before that. I love warpath because its a clean slate, both as a game and a story, its not had 25 years of people who only half understood concepts ret-conning things to suit their version of events or outright fanboys being allowed to add pivotal new background information with the excuse “it was always there we just never told you”.
But most of all, I love warpath because its rules are simple to learn but actually quite unforgiving if you make a mistake or two, which makes if perfect for tournament play. Its rules are actually shorter and simpler than some of the corrections and FAQs packs I’ve seen for tournaments in other games systems.
Why do i love Warpath you ask? Well first of all, the little i have gleaned of the background is immensely exciting. Actually seeing a sci-fi setting where humanity are powerful players on the galactic stage is awesome (there is so little of this that i am aware of. humanity being the ‘galactic children’ as it were is wearing thin now) and if there is one thing Humanity likes to do (historically speaking) it is expand its borders. It seems believable and resonant and that in itself is exciting.
And the minis! even without any idea what the final minis will look like, the concept sketches are so cool i can’t wait to get some Forgefathers in my hands to paint, and let’s be honest with Mantics history so far, the minis are bound to be both fun to build and a joy to paint.
And let’s not forget the rules either. They are so quick and easy to learn, any rules set i can pick up completely in 15 minutes or so is brilliant and yet it doesn’t seem to be particularly restrictive (admittedly i have not played much of it yet, but it’s impressive). I’m also really pleased with the way it is close enough to Kings of War that it makes moving from one game to another a breeze, but does enough differently to feel like a sci-fi game and not just a fantasy game with guns. (The flexibility of the units is i think the big factor here). Not just that, but it’s a comprehensive system. More or less any time of unit can be represented with the appropriate rules.
I’m pretty excited, it has to be said. I can’t wait to see some finished minis and to find out what other races and factions Mantic have in store for us, be it twists on old favourites from KoW or entirely new creations.
Warpath, the new interplanetary game
Puts other Sci-Fi games to shame
With Dwarfs in space
And perhaps a new race
It makes other games seem tame!
Sad…I know!
I forgot to mention the short rule set!
I am a busy working father and this wll allow me the time to actually play the game! My wargaming friends, who are still working, Do not have time for 100+ page rule sets. 8 – 12 pages is perfect.
Another benefit of the short ruleset is that my kids will be able to play as well!
I love warpath because it has become the ideal mass battle space game for me. In an area dominated by GW product, ive been looking for another option, realizing that there was no competitor to GW for a scifi mass battles miniature game. Now you guys step in!
Ive been following this game since announcement and its been getting better and better with each new glimpse and release. Definitely something i look forward to. Even if i dont win, i have money set aside for the first starter set!
I’m loving Warpath because, if the rules and models continue to get even 0.00001% of the attention from here on out that Alessio and Ronnie have shown us via Beasts of War just in the Alpha and early Beta stages, and through the concept art, then we, as gamers, are in for a huge treat. We will have stunning models to play a balanced, quick to learn game that can scale up or down based on how the players want to play. We will have a rich lore and background to choose our armies from, and knowing Mantic, we will get army deals at an affordable price to allow us to get started playing their game. It will be a new face in the growing Sci-Fi market, and I will do my best to promote it locally.
Keep up the outstanding work, gentlemen.
I love warpath because its the only game that has models better than Gw and it is the only game that can knock 40k into the next century. I cannot wait to paint some of these models and the concepts look amazing.. ;D
Space dwarves in heavy armor! Do I need more of a reason to look forward to this game !?!? Actually, there are more reasons – I am very excited to see a serious alternative to WH40K that is more streamlined, simpler and less expensive. My kids are right at the age when they are starting to get interested in wargaming, and Warpath seems like the perfect opportunity to do my fatherly duty and indoctrinate, err, introduce them, to the joys of painting little plastic men and then kicking their dad’s butt with them!
I love Warpath because:
– it’s a finally a squad based game (In Spaaaaaace) that really makes you play squads, not a lot of individual models
– it’s the only real alternative to another game which name I forgot (I think they once also had dwarfs In Spaaaaaace, but not anymore) that is known to me. And I have desperately waited for such an option! As Warren stated in the unboxing of the Shock Troopers from Wargames Factory: options are always good
– the brief description in the video about the background already gives me ideas on how to create armies (not just one) and creates images in my mind
– well and … In Spaaaaaace!
Hmmm , like a British empire, .. in space. Red coats, .. in space. Will there be a kamikaze Scotsmen unit? This unit must have “No time to loss ” special rule!
I would love Warpath as a proper science fiction alternative to other games,
Cheers
I love Warpath as it’s fast, furious and full of BFG’s! Not to mention that it’s FREE! The only things in life that are better than FREE are illegal!
Plus I want some Space Dwarfs! Why the hell is GW so dumb that they haven’t given the gaming world Space Dwarfs! Go, Go Puppet Ronnie! Also it means Darrell will have a whole new “World of Cheese” to discover with Warpath!
WARPATH!
Big Armies! Bigger Battles! Biggest F’ing Guns!
i must firstly apologise. I wrote an incredible three hundred page novel on why i love warpath. It was Amazing! An epic! would have won a million different awards for how awesome it was, but unfortunately, my manservant burned it for fuel. (he has been whipped) So rather than write the whole damn thing again i will sum up why i love warpath in a sentence:
I love warpath because its….. IN SPAAAAAAACEEEEEE!!!!! (its also made by my new favourite games company in the world) 🙂 Looking forward to it. make it incredibly awesome mantic! I know you will.
warpath is a fresh look at sci-fi wargaming i would like to beable to demenstrate to the younger wargames that there is a fun easy and cheeper alternative to the main brands no the market.
I love Warpath, because in many ways it’s an original concept. Taking races in new original directions. I love the idea of space dwarves and humans being the bad guys!
The novel ‘chess clock’ idea is brilliant and adds a whole new edge.
I think the models will be amazing as well, as Mantic are going from strength to strength with the model design!
I love warpath, because:
It is made by Mantic, love what they have done so far and the art so far for Warpath looks awesome.
It is original content, totally new universe to learn and expand. Also getting in at the start, I get to see how the game world starts off and will evolve over time.
Space Dwarfs, Dwarfs in general are growing to be my favorite race and now seeing them in Space with lots of armor and big weapons is really cool.
The rules seem really easy to get into, so when I get the starter box, I will be able grab a friend and just start playing.
Why do I love Warpath?
Because I love prizes? 😉
made me laugh ^^
You sicken me you shameless materialist!
(damn I wish I’d thought of that..)
So far, I love Warpath for several reasons.
First, if Mantic continues their trend, the miniatures will be reasonably priced and great looking, which is a combination that very few companies seem to be pulling off these days. Second, the amount of attention being paid to the gaming community is awesome to see. Mantic is clearly making the game they want to make, but at the same time are open to suggestions and wanting player input.
Third, the rules, while still in something of a state of flux, are overall simple and clean, and allow large armies without bogging down the game too much.
Honorary mention goes to the background, about which very little has been shown, but sounds like a more interesting and moderate setting than many more absolutist ones. Multiple nations with their own moderate goals allows plenty of freedom for diplomacy, trade, and war, rather than constant planet-rending wars of annihilation.
Warpath- Inspirational:
The blood is in the sands
The bodies line the streets
Their homes burned
The ashes settle in my throat
Our Arch-Angels scorch the skies
Our troops take the cities
Their resources now ours
They risked extinction
For the sake of compliance
Some stand, most fall
For glory, hope, power or survival
We all march the path to war.

Read the whole statement before considering to answer and please read it carefully.
I love warpath because ….oh wait ! No I dont love it . Because you make ass-pat session like this (for once) I mean come ooooon ….All there is are 16 pages of rather mediocre rules and two very short army lists, 5 or 6 concept arts and a veeeery short brief of background – that really isnt that cool at all – and NO miniatures at all . This simply isnt the time one could love this game already, there is simply nothing to love yet ( or you really have quite low bar for “love” )
I mean seriously? Iam not hard on them because I want to troll or something but because I really build my hopes on them ! If we start with ” Oh I love you sooooo very much” even if they really havent given anything to us, one could possibly say its so good that you have to love it, how will the outcome of this be in the future ? If you start praising them right from the beginning, even if what you have to base your opinion on is rather mediocre, what would that indicate to them ? That they did well even though most of us know that they could do better than this .
Guys…. Mantic and Alessio could do WAY better than this ( and you all know we need something that is better than what we have right now in the wargaming world) but they need to be challenged, we need to kick them in the ass, not kiss their asses. Because to overwhelm them with praise right from the beginning and with a rather mediocre product ( that I am SURE, SURE, SURE ! they could do way better because Alessio is an outstanding game-designer) leads to complacency .
I know you all want to win this signed box, hell I would love to win it myself because I really look up to Allesio, but this praising simply isnt a good thing to do right now. We have a rather unique chance to influence a product right from the beginning ( and big ups to Mantic for this courageous step! But now try to go down this road till the very end) we all have to work together ( this community and Mantic) and make Warpath a game that really could strike fear into the hearts of other gaming companies because it has the possibilities to be freaking huge. But just dont praise them to early. And I think many of you could agree that this game really isnt quite there yet to love it.
Dont waste the unique chance we all have her, we as a community – but I also address this to Mantic and Alessio – this is a whole new product and youll only have one first release….make it a big one !
so long
Seb
want to emphasize this sentence: I am not hard on them because I want to troll or something but because I really build my hopes on them !
Warpath is great because it takes all the things that are wrong with 40k and puts them right. It then manages to get this into only 16 pages. Bye bye 300 page 40k book!
i love warpath because its made by mantic. everything they do screams value, meticulous detail, and made with the fans in mind. everything they do is for the gamer. they aren`t selling 9 models in a box when you really need 10. the rules sound fantastic and i truly believe this can be our next big game. the tournaments will be awesome, they wont mind if you proxy. they`ve listened to our comments, they`re still listening to our comments and as a company, they have 100% respect from me. i don`t care if i don`t win the competition. ill gladly buy the stuff. cheers mantic, you`re awesome!
Warpath is for everyone, it’s quick, tense and fun!
I like warpath because everything is better in space
and it has BFGs
nuff said
I love Warpath because, I know the minis are going to be sweet if they are anywhere near half as good as the Kings of War minis. Because the big scale feel and loads of dice (I love dice). It is something new; I have been getting my Sci Fi gaming fix from 40k, but you need to mix it up. Manitc hears what the players have to say and acts on it; hell it took more time to incorporate comments from the Alpha. We got an Alpha. Finally, everything is better in space.
simply just love mantic and everything you do
and thnx for making my hobby more afordable
you guys rock
ps any jobs going
lol
I love Warpath because the rule system is intuitive enough that after just a couple of turns I don’t need to refer back to the rulebook for every little detail. Because of the ease of the gaming mechanics I am able to teach my younger brother to play who is just getting into wargaming, but at the same time I can play a very strategic battle with my buddies who I have being gaming with for over 10 years.
I also love that the rules are going to be free which allows me to spend more of my money on the miniatures. Which if the Warpath miniatures pricing will be anything like Kings of War, that will be a whole lot of miniatures!
Finally, I love that Mantic is taking our feedback into consideration for the creation of the game. When you get involved in the game creation, you have a more personal connection with the game because you have put your time and energy into it. Warpath is not just Mantic’s game anymore, it’s the gaming community’s game! Because our hard work will help contribute to the success of the game.
I honestly feel like we have our hands on what gamers had their hands on oh so many years ago when they were playing 1st Ed warhammer. Games workshops hindsight has become Mantics foresight and that is why I have declared to all of my gamer buddies “That Kings of war and warpath will set mantic up as the number 1 table top strategy war-game in the world.”
As long as you keep your current heading and don’t turn the mantic journal (which is amazing) into an Avon catalog and price your customers out of the hobby then you will quickly gain the respect that you are looking for. We here in Washington state are with you at the beginning until the end!!! Good job gentlemen.
MANTIC ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!
they make great mini’s and have a game that is easy to play with any mount of mini’s, you don’t need to spend a fortune to just get the bare necessities to play a game, a box of figs each and the free rules as well as a few dice and you’re off, there aren’t many games that can boast such a great way of getting into the hobby.
and the best thing is you don’t have to learn a 200 page rulebook to play ,all it takes is to read a 12 page ruleset, alessio has really gone out of his way to deliver a great and easy game with kings of war and has now done the same with warpath, if the mini’s themselves are on par with the kings of war stuff (lets face it they will be , each new mantic release gets better than the last) i will be counting down the minutes till i can order some figs get them painted and play some top notch sci-fi wargaming mantic style (BIG BATTLES).
In Space
And the farst game pay does appeal to me,so does the sence of humor, BFG we all know what that also can mean 🙂
As a historical player I must say that WW2 Germans does make sad proxy models for the marauders, and the same for the Tommys on the Forge Father side (Sorry Alessio not enough Italian for them to fill in yet)
I love this game because in the grim darkness of the far future there is only…WAAAARRRPAATH!!!
I love Warpath for the gems of insight into a universe blighted by the greed of humanity – you can’t get better fluff than that!
I love Warpath, because the Orx have more intelligence than a dead turnip. These Orx might actually use the right end of the gun, and not sit down in the middle of battle to pick their noses.
I simply love the way Mantic has gone about this. Flyer rules from the outset, the Forgefathers (who have the MOST epic name ever) and especially the ability to ally armies.
Simply, it blows the mind how smooth and slick the rules are… they play so easily, and they make sense!
My favourite part of Warpath though has to be the BFG’s. I see what you did there Alessio!
The only negative about Warpath is that I have is that I won’t see any miniatures until October… 🙁
Keep on rocking,
Scott.
I love warpath because… METAL BEARDS.
Why love Warpath? why not? Great minis (they are Mantic of course they are great). Its great to see a game that is not afraid to do something different but also not afraid to use stuff that works and been around awhile. Also space dwarfs are cool don’t need to say much about them. Warpath and Mantic in general have great rules witch are simple clear and well thought out. A pricing structor that makes sense will be nice also. But far and away the number 1 reason to love Mantic and warpath is there and Alessio’s willingness to listen to the fans and players and use the feedback they give to make the game better and more fun for everyone.
You’ve got my money.
Mantic knows what they’re doing, they care about their gamers and show it by giving us affordable miniatures and totally awesome FREE rules. i think i can speak for everyone when i say THANK YOU!
clear and plain rules & i’ll get to play with ‘dwarves in space’ again. that’s what i call a ‘win win’
Warpath, and Mantic in general, makes me excited to play miniature wargames.
Warpath is the future of table top war gaming with easy and fast rules and kick ass miniatures to butcher your buddy with. Fallow the path of war and glory!!!
I love Warpath because all the rules fit in less than 20 pages. Although I found not removing models strange at first, I have started to really like Warpath’s wound and nerve system. Also, I love dwarves with actual legs…IN SPAAAAACE!!!
I Love Warpath cause it’s such an easy to learn and fantastic game, but what is important is that i absolutely need a box of that game, cause i’ve already translated all the rules from the beta and the army lists in italian, but i do not have “compatibile miniatures” to test them with my friends.
So i beg you, please send me that boxed game, help my gaming group here in italy!!!
A SciFi game with simple but elegant rules that allow me to push around lots of miniatures on a tabletop, featuring some Evil Empire, errrm Corporation…
What’s not to like about that :-)))
(Now where did I leave those Evil Corporation, errrrm Empire dwarves in SPAAAAAACE miniatures for some Beta games?)
As a brand new wargamer (less then 6 months in, only like 3 games played) mantic presents a possibility of me actually affording the hobby. I make enough to spend 30 or so a week. Looking at the major brands out there, thats not reallly enough. You could scour ebay etc, or i could just buy mantic stuff. The models are effin great, the support is awesome and the whole synergy with the BOW community rocks. For warpath, those rules are alot easier to pick up then say the other major scifi games and man, alot of the BS is cut out. Mantic gives a crap about their customers and when i ordered from their store once, they threw in extra stuff! Oh whats not to love about warpath and mantic?
PS i wish i could buy yall a pint of some good texan microbrew… maybe one day
Wayne
You wanted to love your far future but you couldn’t really see the fun in the (grim)dark?
You wanted to explore a universe of background, only to learn that the whole galaxy is stuck in the eighties and not moving anywhere?
You wanted to play humans that don’t think it’s heretic being an alien, but have real, actual reasons for exterminating everything in their path (and don’t pray to digital watches just because they don’t understand how they work)?
You wanted to lead an epic army, but you’d need an actual war budget to do so?
You wanted to play the game, but the rules made less sense than a PETA member, wearing leather sneakers?
Well, there is only one path you should be on then; the Warpath!
And a little less of an ad-pitch and perhaps more to the point of how I feel;
I love Warpath, because it’s obvious that Mantic loves what they are doing.
I love warpath because there are BFGs.
Why I love warpath?
Well at first I didn’t don’t walk away just yet, At first I didn’t but. Then I started hearing about the story and background. Now I am a big RPG fan and there is not a whole lot out there when it comes to space. I know right there should be heaps. But it is dominated by two monolithic pop phenomenons one Star Trek the future is bright and shinny, it’s your classic utopian future, the other star wars it’s fantasy future but in the past. The problem is here. Well in one it’s all happy days and kumbaya the other is nothing but wizards given swords and mish mash of batman.
It’s fine if you like that sorta thing, sure I love the movies and series to greater and lesser degrees depending on who it is. But is it somewhere, where I can let my imagination run free and bring friends on a journey through there. Not really, there is little grit in ether, there like salad sandwich there lots of stuff there but nothing to dig your teeth into. Oh and then we move on to the warhammer 40,000 universe. Which in the nineties decided that the comics were going to out do them with grim and gritty.
You can have adventures through there just don’t expect to come out the other side in one piece. Sounds fun right.
But then a little video about the background of warpath came up. It wasn’t very long but it lit my imagination ablaze with possibilities. The forgefathers an ancient and implacable race who’s machines fire and piston millennia old ships that took flight long before we crawled from the rocks, the savage and brutal orx’s who warrior spirit couldn’t be crushed by machinations or men and the slow disease that crawls from solar and it brings a cold and new horrible monster as it’s vanguard.
The Corporation.
As soulless as the denizens that created it.
This is why I love warpath because they are asking me to come to a new frontier one where we are not the eternal galactic underdog or bright star of tomorrow. No they ask me to come to a new frontier where the alien may just be more human and the human may seem alien.
Just a side note I may like some of the model sketches, maybe just a little… maybe a little more than that.
I met Ronny once in my Games Workshop Days, in fact he gave me my “Pep” speech when I became a Manager. Always full of support and ideas, its good to see he’s finally being appreciated with what he’s doing now with Mantic! FINALLY a Mass Combat Sci-Fi game that’s not fricking 40k – I never played GW Games before I was recruited to work for them, and I stopped when I left – WARPATH IS THE GAME I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! IMMENSE!
I like Warpath because the Corporation army of camp-site holiday reps in space. Wait wrong redcoats.
Though more seriously I like how units are not forced to stay in combats that they have no chance of damaging the enemy.
I love Warpath ’cause Gok Wan says big metal beards are totally what’s hot right now.
*I also love Warpath ’cause it’s a game made by fans, for fans, with the fans :p
I am interested in making video battle reports for company’s. I would very much like to get the starter set for warpath and make battle reports of all the local gamers playing with it. Also i trying to make watching video battle reports as popular as possible.
I love it because its a new universe to conquer!
I love warpath because……… about 15 years ago another games company dropped a bollock and canned the best race for their sci-fi game, Space Dwarfs are just the best and the forge fathers are great looking space dwarfs!!!! I will have them! I will have them all!!!!!
TWTs
Gotta love Warpath because it provides another arena in which to kill those pesky little dwarf buggers 😛
I like Warpath, Warpath brings the fun back. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and is simple to play.
I love Warpath because… well its awesome. Simples. :p
Warpath is awesome because it means I can finally have an Orc army that doesn’t look like it’s lower jaw isn’t about to hyperextend and drop off. And I can have it at a reasonable price…and play MASSIVE games…and then hopefully get Gores and make them maraudery for PIIIIGS IN SPAAAAAACE. Oh, and like Kings of War I can get in two or three games an evening instead of one game with an hour of rules quibbles….on the night I first play….against another new player. Bring it on.
I love warpath because not only is it a giant middle finger to a certain gargantuan, market degrading, commercial **** up, but it also creates a medium in which the everyday joe can actually get involved in wargames and miniature collecting alike. Not only this but the orcs look scary and the dwarfs look a lot harder than gimili. Not to mention the fact that you can field an army you have worked your ass off for months to intimidate your opponent for his poor painting skills (i dont im joking) but you can also keep them on the table.
Did i mention mantic are also allowing !US! to throw ideas at them for unit names, how cool is that, we actually get a say on what we want. Not what a greedy balloon in a suit beleives is a good investment.
How do I love thee, warpath? Let me count the ways…
1: Finally introducing some competition into the field of sci-fi large battles. It’s a field that has been completely monopolised for far too long, and the introduction of some competition would be a brilliant thing even if the rules and minis were awful.
2: The rules are great, especially for a beta! You can get right into the fight without spending hours poring over what wargear to give your units, and the rules are simple enough that you can pretty much learn them during your first game, rather than having to check the rulebook several times per turn even after years of playing. Also, the allies system will hugely increase thematic variation in armies, as well as options available to the player.
3: The models should be great! The concept art has me drooling in anticipation, especially given Mantic’s history of producing minis just like the concept art, and with brilliant detail too.
4: The price is great! We don’t know how much the figures will cost, but since they’re from Mantic, it will probably be far lower than the main competition. But even ignoring this, putting the rulebook and all the army lists onlinesaves a lot of money and eliminates one of the biggest barriers to people just starting out with wargaming. The free army lists also encourages people to branch out from “their” army. Combied with the allies system, this means that players can buy any model purely on what they think looks great, and they can probably still field it in a battle!
5: The setting sounds great! While it keeps with the archetypes people are familiar with, it’s still a very original universe. I like the twist of humans being the main bad guys, while it avoids having any pure good or pure evil races. How do you explain the motivation of a pure evil race without getting incredibly corny? This setting seems fairly believable, definately sci-fi rather than the science fantasy that would have been so easy to do. Also, I love the idea of the east empire company IN SPAACE!
6: Where else am I going to get space fishmen? 😀
I love Warpath because backwards it spells Htapraw – and that’s a rude word within the Luba Tribe of Central Africa meaning “the profile of the arse whilst in flight”……FACT!
I love Warpath because it has great rules, great miniatures and truly massive battles in a sci-fi universe!
Wait, I got a better one: I love warpath, because I get to roll UNTAMED BRAZILLIONS OF DICE!!!
The Mantic Games models are brilliant, the background, however undeveloped looks to be much more fun to explore than Games Workshops endless grimdark. All the races outlined so far have their own compelling backstory, not just the standard fantasy races but grimdark, each has their own “thing”. The rules are simple to pick up, and can fit battles of any scale. Allowing the public to give feedback gives scope for the sort of development that established wargames do not have.
It’s tough to say right now as I haven’t been able to play a game yet. Right now I’d say I like the art style of the concept sketches, and given the recent models released for KoW, I’m really looking forward to the Warpath models. I also like that the fluff direction will be that Humans are the threat to the galaxy. As far as the rule, I like that they are simplified and will allow for faster games, but mostly I like that Mantic is taking input seriously. Which is good since certain aspects, such as flyers, could use some tweaking.
The reason I love Warpath is because Mantic is behind it. Finally a company that wants to build the community, and listens to what it’s customers have to say.
I love warpath because it is playtested, unlike some other scifi minis war game I know not saying any names, but it happens to rhyme with Barhammer 40k (joking aside, I love the alpha and beta testing)
I love Warpath because it it easy to learn, very clear (no arguing on some interpretation of the rules). What I really like about it is all the rules involving the leader. I am really eager to look for the vehicule and craft. Good works guy’s. I will follow you on the developpement of the game.
I love Mantic and Warpath cos i dont have to sell my house to get an army of good size and the rules are simple enough to teach some1 who isnt rly into wargaming but still wants to share the hobby (fiancee however u spell it ^^)
Quality sifi combat without the gw hassle lets see hell yeah Ill play. Now that thats out of the way I love warpath because the creators took the time and our comments to make it. They truly cared about what we thought as gamers and buyers of their product. Warpath is streemlined without being too simplistic, it trully does make for better gaming imo.
to be honest, right now i don´t love it. The reason you ask? well, i don´t HAVE IT JET! But you can change that and give me the love for that game ^^
I like Warpath because the world (or rather Future Universe) sounds really fun and exciting, and the concept art is looking great. Up to now I’ve only played evil armies, but the Forgefathers are so cool that they may change that.
Honestly? I love what they’ve done with warpath because the rules don’t get in the way of having a fun, competitive game. Less rules lawyering, and more strategizing.
It’s not 40K
I love the idea of a sci fi system based on a fantasy setting, that isn’t dominated by malee as the other major game is. It’s simple but not simplistic and still avoids some of the most infuriating pitfalls its main compatition encountered when changing it’s rules over years. Last not the least finally a setting when humiez aren’t the good or least bad guys. And it’s in space, so +10 to awsomnes.
I love Warpath because quite simply, Mantic listen to their customer base. People have wanted Space dwarves; enter the forgefathers. People want big battles with rules that are unique and yet familiar’ Warpath has more than accomplished this. I truly look forward to future releases and having mine and my fellow gamers input listened to and (if enough of a consensus is met) acted upon. Mantic is a refreshing change to a monopolised Sci-Fi market. You guys rock!
I love Warpath because without it a walk down the small alleyway by my house wouldn’t be quite as spooky…
And because now Darell has another wargame to get the rules wrong in.
The eight race is fiction by the Corp. to keep the masses ;;buying Cost-cast.
