Full movement for Jacks made them more playable
Can’t wait to give this a try! Loved first edition and this looks even better!
Super awesome video, looks easy and flowful to get into the action into the sport of dreadball
Fan check for fouling? Hmmm. I can dig it.
From what I seen for now i like the changes 🙂
Looks Great! Hos does the game compare to Guild Ball?
better
Quicker game play and far fewer murder combos. Where Guild Ball is a little more skirmish with a ball on the pitch, Dreadball is more of a pure sports game. A little bit basketball, a little bit lacrosse, and a little bit rugby.
I feel there’s also a little bit of American Football in the mix
played my first games last week, love the improvements to fouling, the addition of the new stat as well opens up more possibilities without it getting too clunky.
I look forward to forcing a league on the club as soon as is possible 😀
It’s a good coverage of the basics
Dreadball is one of my favourite ‘almost’ boardgames. I already have version 2 and played. While fouls have got ‘fruitier’, Im still a purist when it comes to tactics – Always go for the ball!
While I haven’t played that many 1st Ed. games, fouls have seemed to lack “punch”, so improving their effectiveness seems positive to me, as does improving the effectiveness of the jack. I like the idea behind the new ref check too. Interested to hear about captains, as I understand they aren’t universally popular…
I would rush to try this 🙂
Interesting, particularly the ability to foul. 🙂
Good coverage of the basics. I picked up a few things we’ve missed in my league so far.
The jacks definitely have a new lease on life now. I also really like the increased involvement of the fan checks and the way the cheerleaders now interact with that part of play.
sounds like a new excuse to paint up some cheerleaders
The fouling mechanic looks interesting . . . not having to declare it . . . just see if your opponent notices . . . that is errr different!
This is a good start!
I have the first edition, but never could get my gaming group into it. I will have to try again with the new edition.
Looks better than first edition.
I like that you can get fan checks for great passes and fouling. Cards look a lot more useful now. Was annoying to get a card that your team couldn’t use.
Had some mega games and a great league with this. I do hope the league stuff is a ironed out as the rules. Te new system is really well done, can’t wait to smash it out. Will be painting my cyborg team in Brütal Deluxe colours. Oh yes. There will be teeth on the field/pitch/space rink/ board.
I have the striker from Brutal Deluxe he was an add on in a previous Dreadball kickstarter 🙂
Brutal Deluxe was from Speedball 2 wasn’t it?
Yeap in the lovely red and blue uniform with the horned helmets. It was a good look
Loved that game
looks nice
So, more fouls, got it.
The new foul rules really make me want to try the Zees for our next league
Fouling…….. anything that encourages more fouling gets a thumbs up from me !!
Thanks for showing some of the mechanics of the game.
never played the first edition, but this game seems so much fun
This is a good tutorial
Love the look of the Sumo lizards.
Think the changes are going to make the game even better, well done Mantic.
Works for me this far 🙂
nice mechanics.. this game got my attention for sure
These rules look easy to follow
This game is great!
The game is strange, can’t say if I like it or not. The faul mechanic I am not very fan of.
Maybe I need to try a game to get around the corners…
I really like it. Is it that you need to spot your opponent cheating that you don’t like?
If it’s the ability of cheating that bothers you, you can always settle with your opponent to play it “by the book”. Real gentlemen don’t foul anyway.
If it’s the part that you need to notice it, you could also say you have a RefBot Mk3 in the Dread Dome, that always recognizes fouls, so you need to tell your opponent when you make one. (Although this would mess up the 7+ player on the field rules.)
Jacks get 3 dice to pick up 21:45
Strikers get 4 – 3 base + 1 for being a striker. Strikers get bonuses for basically anything with the ball. Throwing, picking up, catching. Protect your strikers!
loved the 1e of this game, got put off a little by the proliferation of teams, especially the power creep of teams like the rebs and the convicts. Am over the moon they’ve had a chance to review and balance the teams.
I must ask lads in my local store to show me that looks nice.
Looks like a definite improvement
Can`t honour Keane the Mean machine enough I`d say, so foul away
I like the mechanic whereby you don’t have to declare fouls if your opponent doesn’t spot them. Although it feels a bit like actual IRL cheating…
Didn’t play first ed, but the new ed looks okay
@dignity: NOBODY puts Baby in the corner!
Looks like they’ve kept the ease of play 🙂
This was informative
This is thorough, I like that
This sounds good, I’m interested in trying this
Il a l’air sympas le nouveau dreadball 🙂
Such a great game, I really need to get some more rushes in!
Yeah, want to play that now…
Nice show of what you actually can do in a turn.
If I understand right, breaking down rushes are what guardians are for
Never played the original but this does seem to have a lot of tactical depth.
Good oveview if the mechanics of the game
Liking the way you can move the “Ref” around, and keep him/her away from your own players. Played right, you can sure make a mess of your opponent`s game (works both way`s, but it has to be done).
Will have to re-watch this video, as i`m sure i missed the odd part due to my grandson attacking my laptop.
Nice run through of the mechanics, still need to get to tactical grips with all the fouling options!
I love the speed of play and the potential reward for positive actions
I do remember never fowling under Mk1 as it seemed pointless. Too risky and hard to do without announcing it. I hope it really is more incentivised and accessible.
seems to be a ver minor tweak to the rules. basic mechanics appear to be the same as v1 which is great as I always loved Dreadball. The changes to fouling to encourage more fouling is awesome, it was very under utilised in mk1.
Have never played and am looking forward to more of the videos. I do really think that the fouling is a great concept in the game and the fact that you can foul and get away with it if your opponent does not notice is great.
great tutorial guys
Sounds fun, I should try second edition
Nice to see Jacks have had a bit of love in the new edition.
A single rush would look a bit short if I’d just read the rules, but from the game examples it seems to make everything dynamic enough
Useful Jacks and fouling are massive improvements. That and all teams being able to purchase a card from an action token.
I’ll try to get some people in our club to play DreadBall
The rush breakdown is good, nice to see rules in play
This was a good overview of the rules! I’ve included your video in our article: https://alkony.enerla.net/english/the-nexus/board-games-nexus/board-game/dreadball-ed2-base-set-mantic-games-2018-board-game-base-set-review
