Time to add some basing to our Lost Patrol Miniatures and get them finally finished up.

Nice! I love hobby creative goodness!
Great fun. Haven’t seen a 40K sprue in hand since Space Crusade in my youth. Would be nice to see how this plays and see if I introduce my son to this world via Lost Patrol. Price seems good. If it looks like you enjoy the play through I may get it.
For the Xenomorph look, you could try priming black and then giving them a very light dry brush of a dark metalic color to get the metalic shimmer, and then gloss coat.
Old skool Space Hulk purple and blue all the way for the ‘stealers!
Green Flesh with Purple Carapace (Yuk!) (6%, 1 Votes) is how I plan to do mine, but with a nice coat of Liquitex Iridescent Medium on the carapace. Maybe a couple different greens.
The John way, but also match the other colours of the plants (red, yellow etc) in small areas
i’ll check in tomorow, thanks for the VLOG guys!
I’m thinking “dark blue + yellow camo pattern”
Kind of like the some reptiles and frogs :

Just because even our earth jungle is green that doesn’t mean the animals are too.
Reality can be stranger than fiction.
Kudos on getting it sent to you, fingers crossed for future co-operation gents
Blue and Purple – Space Hulk!
purple and blue – a good contrast for brown and green jungle/ red scouts
Johns idea but with a brown Carapace :o)
Great idea to do this vlog as the day progresses, you should do more videos like this! Looking forward to seeing how tomorrow unfolds.
You can have too much green, and whilst I appreciate camo, you don’t want to lose the genestealers altogether. For example, Tigers hide amazingly well in the jungle but they’re sure not green.
Not green? Haven’t you seen He-Man?
Very cool project and very inspirational.
Oh dear, you got my mind blowing away. How about a game with some Catachan Jungle fighters as proxies. Sly Marbo here I come.
I’m not sure what blows me away more, your awesome work or the fact GW actually sent you one of their products…
Looking forward to the play through.
Very very interesting, thanks!
Feckin Ell! GW are really changing their tune. Gone are the days of stopping you doing review videos to now sending you something early so it can be done up all shiny and painted prior to release.
Time for me to go and faint in a corner…
Jon the green army paint you used on the Genestealers, did you use it straight from the bottle or was it thinned down with water? Thanks in advance for your answer.
thinned slightly.
Looking good so far….
Wow, when looking those genestealers, I want an airbrush for myself too. Looking soooo good!
Looks great guys, I have really enjoyed looking through the whole project log.
For the jungle floor:
I gave up smoking about the time my blood pressure started getting bad, and took up drinking green tea. So, for the last few years I have been drying out the green tea bags and dumping the used, dried tea in containers and stashing the empty bags away. The tea makes great scatter and the bags work for painting up miniature flags and banners. The price is right and leaves me enough pocket change for a new mini now and then, or a bottle of Laphroaig to make up for the healthy effects of all that tea-drinking. — Doug.
The mottling effect on the Genestealers has me close to considering an airbrush finally – I’ve done these manually on some test models just on the heads and it would be a time consuming process across an army.
Pretty bad mould lines on those figures it seems – is this a retail copy or pre-production?
@subedai – I think the mould lines are pretty standard. These are very old sculpts (probably around 10 years or so), so don’t get your hopes up that they’ll be better in your copy!
Basecraft products available from model display products
The paintjobs are awesome on the figs. I really like that color scheme on the genestealers too. I’m not used to people painting them green.
The pipe tobacco is a great idea, and not all of it smells foul. Plus if you are doing this on a budget and don’t care about the smell, you can buy the cheap stuff.
In time that smell does go away.
This might be a goofy question, but can you use the stencils with brush, if you don;t have an airbrush?
Excellent work guys I look forward to seeing the demo game.
Really enjoyed this one chaps, along with the price point this could be a father/son attempt.
Have to say – given how dated the sculpts are I really wasn’t interested in this game, but you’ve made it look very attractive. I don’t know anything about the game play, but will be watching your play through with great interest.
Also – three cheers for GW reengaging with the community. The attitude they’ve had for years has been insulting to fans and self-defeating, which has been a terrible shame. So many of us grew up with GW and have very happy experiences with GW games and would love to reconnect.
I genuinely hope they are pleased with the coverage this Vlog has given their game and that will keep it up.
Well done lads
O M G
I thought this would be bad, not to say anything about the painting.
Nids bone and green. But i have to say that works really well. Painting came out lovely.
Scouts are looking good too. Had no problem you doing a good job.
It was unexpected how good the jungle looks.
In fact, from a person who looked at the game and said Na, to now looking at what you’ve all ended up with and wondering about getting this and doing the work to make it looking as good as you have ended up with, a sale of Lost Patrol might well be bought.
All down to what you’ve don, a big WELL DON LADS.
Justin good job on the Scouts. John the Genestealers look very nice as well.
I believe with upping the look of some board games brings out the narrative even more. For example, now with the actual terrain pieces on top of the game tiles makes it really understandable how you can only see so far. Also, this makes the jungle seem alive to enhance the gaming mechanics. I’m sure if more people see what you have done extra…will sell more of these board games for sure.
This little hobby log really inspired me. I now want to build and paint miniatures rather quickly to produce a compact and finished miniatures project in “no time”.
Thanks, that you encourage people to put just a tiny extra bit of effort into their miniatures (vision, concept, cunning, planning, effective trickery…) to get that much more out of them.
Wasn’t too thrilled with this game box. It seemd too basic / standard to me since my real interest in these game sets GW is throwing at us these days lies with the miniatures, not the actual games. Silver Tower being the exception now, since I enjoyed WH Quest in former times.
But, now it is looking way more attractive to me. Especially, due to that Predator interpretation that you just had to point me to, right?
Darn. ^^
Great vlog , love the jungle bits and paint jobs
Loved this vlog, any idea when we are getting to see a play through?
i don’t understand why you haven’t played this yet on the channel? you got it done and then quit.
