Let’s Play Labyrinth The Board Game With Alessio Cavatore
January 9, 2017 by warzan
Hey guys, you're in for a treat today. It's been 30 years since the fateful Sarah wandered her way through the Labyrinth with David Bowie as Jareth The Goblin King tempting her every move.
Today we're opening up and having a play through of the Labyrinth Board Game with Alessio Cavatore from Riverhorse Games.
The game is typically made for 4 players however it can be played with up to 5; and as you will soon see, it's mega fun and challenging even with 3 players.
So what are you waiting for? Check out the video and tell us what you think of the game too while you're coming up with a limerick worthy of The Goblin King.
Enjoy!

This game reminds me of the babe…
What babe?
The babe with the power.
What Power?
The power of voodoo!
Who do?
You do
Do what?
Remind me of the babe.
Remind him of the babe.
I saw the minis for this at Salute, they looked great.
They really do look fantastic don’t they. If I hadn’t just blown my load on KDM I’d be tempted to get into this a little more!
There once was a King played so wonderfully by Bowie,
Hoggle had a big nose, lots of green stuff would fly if he gave it a blowy,
Toby was tiny,
The goblins were grimy,
And Sarah grew up to be oh so doey!
Hoggle is the prince of Stench
He got stuck there because of a wench
He tried to save her
Got a kiss for that favor
It’s what comes of being a mensch
My limerick submission:
“Thirteen hours isn’t a very long time at all!”
Sarah cried as she wandered the Labyrinth hall.
“It’s not fair!”
“Is anyone there?”
” ‘Allo!” responded a tiny worm, just one inch tall.
The hair really sells it!
“Thirteen hours isn’t a very long time at all!”
Sarah cried as she wandered the Labyrinth hall.
“It’s not fair!”
“Is anyone there?”
” ‘Allo!” responded a tiny worm, just one inch tall.
Sorry for the double post. Lagged out the first time I submitted it, so I reposted it! Please disregard the second submission!
There was a self-styled princess so lovely and fair,
With her white poet shirt and her long brunette hair,
She thought that just maybe,
The goblins could come take her baby,
So she could hang out at the Renaissance Fair.
Said Jareth the handsome and proud goblin king,
Your baby is mine when the clock strikes thirteen,
Forever is not long at all,
He said as he twirled his balls,
Or you can stay and rule as my Queen.
I had to improve on this one because I’m like that.
Said Jareth the handsome and proud goblin king,
Your baby is mine when the clock strikes thirteen,
Forever is not long at all,
He mused as he twirled his balls,
So fear me, love me, and rule as my Queen.
The goblin in Toby’s room made a racket,
So Sarah ran through to attack it.
But much to her surprise
She found herself memerised
By the Goblin King’s obscenely large packet.
I’ve convinced the owner of my local gaming store to order in a ton of copies of this game. I can’t wait to play it with my son!
Ambrocious tis given to flyte,
When needed to aid in the fight.
Sir Didymus calls,
His noble steed stalls,
Spurs battle success less finite.
My favorite film when I was a child. Still love it the film!
Hoggle caught doing a pee,
And Ludo strung up by a tree.
Jareth was a King so fine,
In my world he is mine!
He has the power over me…
Hopefully be able to get a look at the game at UK Games Expo in June.
There once was a king
Who really could sing
He had a maze
The rest is a haze
Because all we could see was his thing
Great looking minis
Poor Sarah was mad at her brother
baby-sitting imposed by his mother
King Jareth the goblin
had schemes that were maudlin.
but she finally saw through his blather
I like the sculpts but I wonder how strong the plastic is, if it can hold straight lines, one of the mini’s looks a little bowie.
It is Bowie
Love to loose myself in this labyrinth
Ziggy wore a cod piece and stole a baby boy
He tried his best to win the girl, but Sarah played it coy,
With muppets and a sheep dog, she triumphed every turn
’til she reached his castle, no thanks to the worm
He had no power over her. She wouldn’t be his toy
Awesome, quite faithful to the movie, the only thing I don’t like are the tiny pawns, I would have like bigger ones to have them on display after painting them when no one plays the game.
There once eas a goblin king
He loved to dance and to sing
He wanted sarah for his queen
But she thought he was mean
So no love from his precious thing
Allessio always a good laugh
Seems cool, I’ll look for it when it’s released.
wow would love to get hold of that 3 up , but bloody ruvbbish at limericks….:-(
Give it a go anyway.
That was excellent! I loved every second of it.
From a fantasy world of romance
comes a Goblin King singing “Let’s dance!”
One question remains
until someone explains…
“Just what has he got in those pants?”
Hoggle did tremble with Fear
Whenever Jareth was Near
But then he did think
He could live with the stink
If Sarah could hold him so Dear
Looks interesting.
He asks for so little, just do as I say.
Just fear me, love me and I’ll be your slave.
He moves the stars for no one, everything he’s
done he’s done for you.
He’s exhausted from your expectations so what
are you going to do?
You remind him of the babe, the babe with the
power.
You say it’s not fair but your brothers his in nine
hours.
You wished for the goblins to take him away.
What’s said is said, and at the end of the day,
should you need us and the Labyrinth you wish
to return…..
Don’t ask me my darling, I’m just a worm.
Worm “No I said `ello, but that’s close enough”.
Thank you for the game review! Here is my Limerick submission:
Upon a young girl’s impulsive
request
A Goblin King devised a
test;
A babe to win
A game to him
Formed emotions quite complex.
There once was a girl named Sarah
Who was forced to be her brother’s carer
Until she summoned a king
Who could dance and sing
Now She faces a Labyrinth of terror.
There once was a knight not so large
Across his bridge one could not barge
Ambrosius his steed
In his hour of need
When corned by goblins he would CHAAAAAAARGE!
There once was a king of such power
He could even move time by the hour
When he started to dance
The whole world in a trance
For those tight trousers demanded we cower.
Saw the minis at salute, so many fond childhood memories of this film, although its Hoggle and Ludo my Favorites. Dont suppose if i won i could get a three up of either of those instead? please, pretty please, ive been good eaten all my greens i don’t smoke, drink or chase loose women in fact this is probably the only three up likely to happen in this house even with the odds of winning taken into account lol
In a Labyrinth there was a king
Who rolled crystal balls and could sing
Then along came a girl,
put his head in a whirl
until bested at the hour of thirteen
Really enjoyed your demo game, brought back a lot of cool memories for the movie.
Ludo is hairy and strong,
Friend to rolling stones with his song,
Despite his great size,
and the look in his eyes,
he is most afraid of the pong!
Three men were playing a game,
Four heroes were searching for fame,
One had a dog, one was short, one was tall,
But the other …can’t remember her name!
It’s really a shame the whimsey that Labyrinth possessed is really missing from movies today. I think it has to do with puppets being replaced by CGI 🙁
Game looks good! I can’t wait to play this! I would totally fail the last recital test though! 🙁
there once was a teen girl named Sarah
who told Jareth its not fair-ah
she went Underground
her baby brother she found
and made friends with a dwarf knight and bear-ah
There once was a goblin called Hoggle
Who wore his great beads on a toggle.
Fairies, he couldn’t stand
So he squished them to sand
Causing Sarah to be all a-goggle!
Very entertaining playthrough. The game looks simple yet intriguing.
Jareth was once a great king.
His highness could really sing.
He ruled over his land
With glass balls in his hand
Like he was about to start juggling
about time
It’s like all my childhood dreams came true.
If she’d ‘ave kept on goin’ down that way she’d ‘ave gone straight to that castle.
Looks really good fun. Loved the film so I will love this. This could be the game to get my son started in this great community! Can’t wait.
Hey, lady! It’s against the rules to throwing other people’s heads!
Yo! You’re only allowed to throw your own head!
Yeah, that’s right!
Sarah wished her young brother away.
To the goblins in their charge he would stay.
To play Jareths dare
To her was unfair,
Become a Queen and her family betray.
There once was a knight named Sir Didymus
Who guarded a bog that smelled odorous
But he gave us permission
To continue our mission
Though the stench alone would have got rid of us
The roar of the beast gave fright
Sara initially wanted to hide
With a well-aimed throw
The goblins did go
And his friendship did Ludo provide
Jareth decided to send in his own limerick:
There once was a gnome, named like Hedgewart
Who aided a girl from my maze start
If she kisses him
Be it grateful or whim-
He’ll forever be smelling like big fart!
….
…. Well…..laugh
That was supposed to be bog fart – foiled by auto- correct!!!
There was a girl named Sarah,
Who was her baby brother’s carer
Jareth the King
would often sing
Thirteen is when things become a whole unfairer
A man from Italy had an epiphany,
‘Set a game in a Labyrinth mystery’,
It even featured Ludo,
Who rarely has a clue though,
but at least he new it was Sarah not Stephanie
There once was a girl named Sarah,
Whose heart could not have been rarer,
Alessio made a game,
To highlight her fame,
Saving the babe as Jareth tried to hurt her.
Thirteen hours is the length of his stay
Once the Goblin King steals him away
Young Toby’s in peril
With goblins most feral
Because Sarah had wished him away
But all is not lost, due to friends
She aquired in the Labyrnth’s dead ends
Jareth lost Goblin City
And he cried “Such a pity”
And the child was returned in amends
Labyrinth fills me with nostalgia,
Times of growing pains not arthralgia,
Days of Bowie and Henson,
No concerns or a pension,
Less worries more times of hysteria
Beasts of War had a Labyrinth contest
What a grand idea I do attest
Hoggle, Ludo and Didymus were all Muppets
They were so real we forgot they were puppets
If I don’t win I will surely be depressed
Hey diddle diddle
The hands and the riddles
The Girl climbed over the walls.
Sir Diddymus laughed to see such a sight
For she was after the King’s crystal balls!
There once was a coward named Hoggle,
The jewels of fair Sarah he did ogle,
Despite threats from his king,
(A bog of stench up to his chin),
The king’s plans he did his best to nobble.
There once was a girl with a brother,
She really disliked her stepmother,
She called the Goblin King,
He gave her a ring,
And now she’s in a worse spot of bother.
She ran all around his labyrinth,
Tried to win before the hour of thirteenth,
While the Goblin King danced,
She advanced and advanced,
And she made it through all that suffering.
There once was a hottie called Sarah
Who was a responsible carer
She went to the city
The goblins weren’t pretty
But at least they knew what to call her.
Jareth stole Sarah to Dance ‘neath the Moon
Moments of gold, his love he did Croon
She burst his Bubble;
Caused All sorts of Trouble;
and escaped Underground to find a new Tune.
Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the goblin city. To take back the child that you have stolen, for my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom is as great.
There once was a girl named Sarah.
Jareth thought there were none who were fairer.
He took Toby away.
And made her come play.
And now he knows of his error.
In a maze with a poisonous peach
Door knockers with riddles as speech
Try not to frown
And never choose down
As the oubliette has a lesson to teach!
A King that wanted a Queen
Put his thing where it could be seen
With it’s size he was hobblin
For twas as big as a goblin
Especially when pointing thirteen
Probably too late for the competition but it was fun to write 😛
Where is Bowie’s massive cod piece/ codlings ? it was the star of that film. twas so big that the lovely Jennifer Connolly almost lost an eye on it a few times.
So… who did win anyway?
