I’m not sure 40k needs a deep analysis, it’s deliberately extreme and silly.  Such a place could never really exist or function (in many ways the Imperium doesn’t function because it’s bureaucracy is also ridiculously over the top).

A better analysis would probably be why 35 years ago it was ok to invent such an obvious fascist/communist parody but were it invented today everyone would be up in arms about it and why, with all this in mind, is 40k still so accepted and popular?
