I would have thought the backstage memberships are the bulk of the funding for the site. Then paid site adverts, and then you tube auto-ads.

So really backstage pays for lots of much of the ‘free’ content too, and certainly allows for the increased variety on the site. e.g. roll for insight articles, more unboxings, event coverage.

Without backstage, it’ll have to be focused on what gets most clicks. so almost exclusively 40k. (And that’s why the 40k table build goes out on you tube, because its worth more that way).

I pay it, to get lots of content, with lots of variety, not just churned out 40k.
