Many years ago my other half an I switched from having a big 2 week holiday to lots of short long weekend breaks (usually in the UK). The break in routine, chance for a bit of pampering and being waited on and a show/movie etc, and just the chance to go out for some walks away from the car.
Discussions are about anything, but everything is a lot chilled out and calm. It’s the break in routine (even from everyday living at the home) that’s good for you. And it all feels like a “reward” for all the hard work. The 2 week vacation usually had us bored after the first week, and we found we were settling in to a “routine” yet again for the second week.
