@shingen Pascal Rooze is running a class on the MonkeysWithFire twitch stream for 3 Mondays through October and November. The first class was last Monday. you should still be able to find it on Twitch, but he will be editing it and uploading it to his Youtube channel very soon. I think he’s had some technical issues otherwise it would have appeared by now normally.
They’re running a class in how to paint female faces at bust type scales. Anyone can watch, but there were 20 tickets sold at £5 +p&p. A ticket got you the 3 Instar paints used for the skin tone and a pot of Water+, a brush from Gamenvy, and the head from the Sunshine Miniatures Victoria bust. You also get feedback and advice from Pascal if you need it.
The entire thing is taking place on Twitch so its a paint along at home at your own pace kind of class, which I really like. I really don’t know if I could cope painting away from my desk without access to my supplies, and I think I might hate having to paint at someone else’s short timetable. I didn’t paint during the live stream. I wanted to understand what I was doing before I started. Being able to pause and rewind the class while I am following it is amazingly helpful.
So far the class has been really good. He’s talked us through the theory and what he plans on doing before he picked up a brush, and then slowly walked us through every step. The only niggles I have is that occasionally his palette was of screen just enough that I couldn’t tell what paint he had put on his brush for some brief moments. He also ended up with more colours/shades mixed up than I had wells in my palette because he was using a wet palette.
This is the first time MWF has run a class like this, but I believe the plan is that if it goes over well they will do more. I’m impressed with the results Pascal has gotten from me so far so I’m super keen to sign up for any more classes they do. Even without the tuition, £5 for all those supplies is super good value. Next class is 4th November, I think, and we continue work on the flesh, and then I think we paint the hair and eyes too. Not really sure what to do with the head when I’m done. I could use a mini plinth for it, I suppose.
