Unpopular opinion but I partially blame the flg shops for stocking GW products (even when they get lower returns) for easy sales instead of pushing alternatives.

I’ve run several frostgrave campaigns including outpacing at one time the latest crusade 40k campaigns run with people jumping over to my games when they see the hilarious stupid fun where having without rule flipping.

The trick is to take that plunge and grab your idea by the cahones ⚽ and roll with it. I used old school flyers given to people for dates and made my own groups. I also went up to people playing games and actually talked to them. You are right it does take effort, but it is definitely not impossible
