The plumber finally showed up. He struggled with the gland nut, it wouldn’t turn. I think his solution was to turn down the water pressure which is not a long term fix, but at least it’s not dripping.

Not sure how that will affect filling the bath, or taking a shower.

I did google and found a video on youtube on how to fix that problem, but if I try myself and apply too much brute force and ignorance I might do something disasterous and cause a burst.

If the water pressure is too low I’ll ask him to replace the packing in the stopcock.
