Maybe this is already up somewhere and if so apologies but just wondering what time things start on the Friday of the boot camp. Have my ticket and off work on the Friday evening already but wondering if I need to arrange cover at work during the day on Friday ?
August 19, 2018 at 4:18 pm #1254537Warren mentioned an early start on Friday so you better get cover sorted. We probably have lot of stuff to glue and paint!
August 19, 2018 at 4:40 pm #1254545Right then, two lots of watered down strong tone later, now time to put on the original colours, in all the wrong places knowing me.

August 19, 2018 at 4:45 pm #1254546All done except some weathering powder on the base and a tidy up of the base rim. Quite happy overall and I now have my paints and washes sorted. Anyone wanting a list of what I used please just let me know.

That’s it, all done. Given the time it has taken me, I can confidently say that I should be able to get three,or maybe even four done over the boot camp! ?????
August 19, 2018 at 10:34 pm #1254621Anyone know what we are likely to see model wise at the Boot Camp. Trying to get together the paints, pigments and such I would like to bring especially with the new powder rules. May have to post some items.
August 19, 2018 at 10:56 pm #1254622Hi @noyjatat, I’d not heard of this change so have had a look around and from the British airways website it seems that powders are only restricted on US & Australia flights. It seems the safest thing to do is have checked baggage. That way you can take scalpels, paint, glue & powder.
no guns though, so you’ll have to disarm all your men before you fly and stick them in miniature weapons rolls, for freighting separately ??
August 20, 2018 at 12:29 am #1254627Hey, you guys are definitely getting ahead of my, but I have received my 28mm Warlord LRDG / SAS troops in the post and am currently cleaning them and experimenting with different basing options.
I can say this much, tryign to get metal miniatures through carry on baggage is murder. Definitely go with @brucelea ‘s suggestion of checked baggage. I’m also thinking of putting all these together and shipping ahead of me … depending on when I can get them done. 😀
August 20, 2018 at 10:54 am #1254786August 20, 2018 at 2:33 pm #1254940I recognise those lads @oriskany , your Chevies should be alot lighter than mine from Ian Crouch ‘ Crouchie’, great models but weighed a ton.
August 20, 2018 at 2:45 pm #1254944@brucelea think you’ve captured his true Rupertness!
August 20, 2018 at 4:00 pm #1254980My first 28mm WW2 model showed up in the mail Friday.
Managed to get a couple hours in on it. Coming to realize the difference between painting this scale….and painting 15mm. Going to have to pack the airbrush and compressor….can’t wait to go through customs. =0
August 20, 2018 at 6:20 pm #1255020@brucelea Do they make weapon bundles that small? 😀
@oriskany looking very nice buddy, shipping is definitely not a problem there is a post office in the gas station across the road too if you wish to ship back.
@leifer1971 great start buddy, what did you use for weathering the tracks?
August 20, 2018 at 6:36 pm #1255052Thanks.
Nothing done to the tracks or running gear yet.
Just base colors….starting at the top and working my way down. =)August 20, 2018 at 9:13 pm #1255088 -
