Glad you guys resolved this, though the problem might have been the Apple hardware, Apple products don’t really play well others peoples stuff .

One time I had to upload a college essay  paper while at a Sci Fi con in the CA Bay area. The con had wifi network set up, so with my old Del laptop I tried to log into the network which caused  the entire network to crash and every other computer with it, why did this happen? because it was an all Mac network. It was Silicon Valley crack tech at its finest.

Also while they are easier to use, macs kinda of lock people out of parts of the computer based on perceived competence (ie, the more you knowledge of computers you demonstrate to the Mac the more access you have to parts of it, the less you demonstrate the less access you have). This can make things like maintenance and  doing new stuff a little harder sometimes, particularly if you are not that tech savvy.
