This is from the Brigade Models website

The Royal Mail have recently given notice of an increase in their prices to the USA; it’s a result of the decision by the US Postal Service to increase the prices they charge other postal services to deliver overseas mail within the US (it’s known as the ‘last mile’ delivery). The result is that Royal Mail prices to the USA are increasing by about 50% starting on July 1st – as examples, the cost of a 500g parcel (probably the most common size we send) is going up from £9.81 to £14.88, while a 2kg package goes from £18.97 to £29.41. You can read more about it on the Royal Mail website if you wish.

    Yes indeed…

UK Ebay sellers shipping prices to Canada, have gone up a bit in the last few weeks already.  It’s a shame, because i’ll be buying less stuff then… or trying my luck in auctions too.

If I have to ship anything from the UK (even within the UK) I use parcel2go.com

I sent a massive 600m x 600m panel (2kg) to Germany for about a tenner. Small parcels to the US (a box of about 30 miniatures) less than £12. They’re also sent by courier, rather than “in the post” – the only time I’ve had parcels go missing with overseas delivery was when I used Parcel Farce/Royal Mail. parcel2go are agents for dpd, TNT, UPS, DHL etc. I wouldn’t use Royal Mail if you paid me! (I’d pocket the difference and send via parcel2go).

USPS also runs heavily on a deficit each year, every year prices go up, more so then ever lately.

I’m getting everything that I can in  resin plinths from the EU before these shipping costs kick off. Its bad enough that the cost of what I might buy here in the US is twice the cost, even with conversion, before shipping charges are figured.

I think I might have to write to some UK mini makers about sending orders I make via other services that you guys have pointed out.
