    [Blatant copypasta]

Welcome to the second (hopefully not last) monthly painting competition (PaintComp) down here in the forums. Taking a page from @warbossd gaming club book as inspiration there will be a key word or phrase set at the start of the month and anybody how likes to participates paints something up, builds something or what ever creative outlet strikes them

Then, not later than the 25th of each month you post your results here (not in the project system!) and we all get to do a community vote on it!

There are no prizes involved, only fun! It’s not mandatory. It’s just for fun.

And the keyword to kick it off is:

    Mountain

Have fun with that, we’ll see you in 23 days!

    Do boobies count as mountains?

Nothing springs to mind for mountain – I’ll visit a model shop later this week and see if anything jumps out at me as fitting the theme.

Boobies may be large tracts of land but the mountains for this match up of minis must meet other requirements. If you go the route of a drindel or The Sound of Music the thought might work.

I’m thinking under, rather than on.  I’m sure @brennon will be along similar lines too if he is able to join us this month.

    We’re all thinking dwarves, right?

@blinky465 Too right.  Mine aren’t near the top of the painting queue at the moment so it is good to have a reason.

Lol…My first thoughts went to George Carlin’s comedy about “getting on the plane” and I turned it into “You can get in the mountain. Its nowhere near as dark out here”. With that I’ve finished the basing for my figure. I just need to get a print done.

@sundancer whether or not boobies count as mountains depends on who you ask.  For example Shakira would say that they don’t.  However the ancient Irish might disagree.  I shall leave people to work out those references for themselves

I’m going to have to break cover and post my entry early, as I’m away next week (driving around the Welsh mountains in the little campervan) and I missed the deadline on the last one due to similar reasons (ok, last time I wasn’t up in Welsh Wales but I didn’t have time to do much more than basecoat a turtle on a deckchair before going away for a week and losing all my free time).

    So….

    Mountains?
Of course it means dwarves, right?
But isn’t that a bit obvious?
What else lives in the mountains? Not dragons – just too big and I don’t want to be painting ’til next month!
So I figured – what about a gryphon?

But then I couldn’t get the image out of my mind from when @sundancer suggested mountains = boobies (for all kinds 0f reasons).

So I figured I’d give it 110% – a dwarf with mountainous boobies riding a gryphon!
I’ll just take my bonus points for completeness and see you back here when I’m back home from visiting the (welsh) mountains.

    gryphon

(yes, I’ve to got to finish the base – hopefully before we go away at the weekend, so I’ll post a final/finished photo when it’s done; if I don’t get that far, you’ll have to take this as my entry).

In my head, mountains -> stone -> stone golem.

I’ll upload a tutorial of how I painted the marble effect as soon as it becomes possible to add images to the project system again. I took loads of WIP pictures just so I could do that.

Ok, this is just the base for my entry. My printer pal has gotten a malfunction with his setup so he’s likely not going to be able to get me my figure in time for the end of the competition. I’ll finish it off next month after he gets up and running. 20250817_173440

    mb-troll

I didn’t think I was going to have anything for “mountain,” but this fellow seems to fit the bill. Troll from Mythic Battles: Ragnarok, painted last week.
