Another vote for loving Star Wars Rebels.
For me I enjoyed both Rebels and the Clone Wars series, both work well in their own way, the Clone Wars really made the prequel movies something to rewatch and enjoy as it expanded on them. Rebels set up a lot of great new backstory for the rebellion.
January 16, 2026 at 3:27 pm #1959409Finished the series. Overall, quite decent. The tie-ins or lead ins, however they are with Rogue One and Andor are nice.
On another note, Kathleen Kennedy did indeed retire, and Dave Filoni is now head of Lucasfilm.
January 16, 2026 at 6:54 pm #1959448she’s done so much damage that I wonder if there is a way forward for the franchise …
At least we still got our games.
Did I mention that the entire Rebels crew is in Shatterpoint (or as Gerry calls it : Starwars Crisis protocol … )
The best pirate ever is in there as well.
January 21, 2026 at 8:55 pm #1960281they all appear in Imperial Assault too. which is an excellent dungeon crawler for star wars (my favourite game to date). Ghost Squadron were in the last wave of releases from FFG and (unfortunately) dominated the tourney scene because they were so very powerful and synergetic. other characters that came along in the official game were Hondo, Thrawn, The Grand Inquisitor, Ahsoka et al.
Unfortunately FFG ended the game but thankfully the IACP (Imperial Assault Continuity Project) then carried it on, rebalanced some of the FFG power creep and brought in more cool characters like from rogue one, the second sister and fifth brother (or whatever their names) and they did a fantastic job of making them really thematic and quite unique too in the game!

Also part of the reason I cracked and got shatterpoint. And I cannot say I am mad about that even though the ghost crew is now coming to Legion in 2027
January 23, 2026 at 5:39 pm #1960813yeah, same here.
Seeing the core box and squad boxes for cheap at a recent gaming convention is what made me buy into it.The series is proof that there is some really good potenial for stories in the Starwars universe that doesn’t directly involve rebels or (traditional) force users.
January 23, 2026 at 8:07 pm #1960833to be fair, a lot of the stories that have not included force users et al have been relatively good.
I think that Solo was a good romp round space (which got too much hate i feel) and the Andor was fantastic, the way it built up from local issues to planetary issues to galactic issues with different levels of bad guy etc was great. Early Mando was a good set of short stories put together into a series, kinda like an RPG really. it kinda went a bit far in later series to be classed as a good casual play through (if you know what i mean) but i still enjoyed it.
It all adds weight to the idea that the little peoples stories are just as good if not better than the big peoples stories.
January 23, 2026 at 10:01 pm #1960838@collins completely agree on Solo, its an entertaining watch.
Also why I am probably going to end up with a 5th Imperial army for Legion when the Minban stuff comes out … I am weak I know
January 23, 2026 at 10:13 pm #1960839to be fair, there should be more imperial army troops. not everyone is stormtrooper. Andor did a great job of showing us this.
January 23, 2026 at 10:18 pm #1960850Agree Solo is great, it’s just fun. And fills in the backstory nicely.
January 24, 2026 at 8:39 am #1960862Solo was too much of a checklist and less of an interesting story/movie for me.
I’d argue that it would have been a better Starwars movie if it hadn’t been about Han Solo at all.Same thing with Mando … it should have been more like Lone Wolf&Cub in space. The setting is big enough to allow for that kind of thing. Things escalated too fast too quickly.
Rebels did a better job at exploring the lore behind Mandolorians with Sabine’s story arc as well as having a decent levelling up for both crew and enemies.January 24, 2026 at 9:24 am #1960864I was disappointed in Solo. Not because it was a bad movie, but it felt forced (no pun intended) in how it introduced Chewie, Lando, the dice, the Falcon, the Kessel Run. It was a checklist as @limburger said.
Mando was ok, but it felt like an excuse to sell Grogu toys. Using Grogu to solve every problem seemed like bad storytelling.
January 24, 2026 at 3:33 pm #1960882I was disappointed in the Solo movie. I was perfectly happy having Han’s early history being kind of fuzzy.
But, IMHO, the movie we received should have stopped following Han at the point that he was separated from Qi’ra and then focused on her story! With Han coming back in later when they crossed paths again. Her character was much more interesting in my opinion.
As far as what should have been a Solo movie, they should have used the first book of the first Han Solo trilogy. “Han Solo at Star’s End”
But I’m old school…….
YMMV
January 24, 2026 at 3:43 pm #1960883I’d say the worst aspect was baby Yoda getting control over his powers so quickly.
It should have been a proper story arc across multiple episodes and seasons.Instead he was a tiny version of Yoda that couldn’t speak.
OTOH … if they had kept Mando at a lower level for longer then they wouldn’t have needed to use baby Yoda and other characters as a crutch.
(also : criminally under used Cad Bane … )
