    Make that two.

I only know the BBC TV series and the newer movie adaption. So technically I never read them. XD

The recent movie was terrible. Every version is slightly different. BBC TV, BBC Radio, Vinyl, Book.

Although Douglas Adams wrote five books in the ‘Hitch Hikers Trilogy’, the first two are his best work (Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy and Restaurant At The End Of The Universe) and they were covered in the BBC TV series.

Count me in the never read HHGTTG camp, movies and tv series only. It’s been on my to-read list for years but haven’t found the time

I Managed to get a whole hour of painting done yesterday! First time this year. The cold weather needs to feck off so I can go to my shed and not freeze!

I’m scared to ask, but who hasn’t read Lord of the Rings? (watching the movies does not count)

Hah! I’m safe on that one! I’ve read The Hobbit (in German) and I’ve read LotR (in English)

Do I remember anything? Barely. But I did flocking read them! Plus some of the other works via the means of audiobooks

Maybe we need a forum of ‘required reading for gamers’… or at the very least recommended reading.

Yeah I’ve read Lord of the rings several times and more recently on audiobook, which I found quite good, particularly for those sections that can be a slog.

a recommended reading section is a decent idea, I’ve come across lists like that in Facebook groups and the like when I used to frequent such hellscapes.

    maybe an OTT book club!

The book and media lists in the old White Wolf rpg books were amazing. There’s a few artists that I wouldn’t have known about without them.

Rogue Trader also had that feel of exploring various sci fi themes in those early days. Sooo much room for your own ideas, but maybe too much of that ? These days it’s the opposite and it feels like there is no room for your own creativity.

We need to bring back that ol’ scratch building spirit. I hope Terrainfest inspired folks to do just that.

Most of my early reading came from the lists in D&D, and what inspired them. Obviously, starting with Tolkien, but then a much deeper fantasy list developed.

My 2026 board gaming is off to a good start. Over the past week or two sunk 10 hours into setting up Aeon Trespass Odyssey and playing the first battle. Hopefully things will go quicker as I get back into it.
