Is there a problem with the site? I’ve tried posting three times (each time with an attached photo) and each time got a server 500 error….

    @danlee Nice work

I’m not sure if it is worth getting a qualified electrician for this one ‘simple’ thing, but then it can’t hurt to ask.

@limburger It has the potential to burn down your house. And if you already have found that someone has used an extension cord inside walls I’d be very sceptical about everything else related to the electrons.

@blinky465 yes. That’s why we didn’t look at projects last night. Seems like the load balancer had some troubles. And weirdly enough: when I uploaded the stream to YouTube that back-end really behaved weirdly.

    Wednesday my dudes. Almost Weekend!

I’m guessing regulations are different to the UK when it comes to cooker installations?

Here, an electric oven has its own dedicated breaker/circuit; the electric lighter thingy is usually on the ring mains – and should be separate to your cooker? Having a dodgy connection for a relatively low-powered sparker to light a gas hob isn’t *that much* of a problem – but a loose connection on something like an oven, that is drawing many (up to tens?) of amps – that could create dangerous arcing and possibly a fire hazard. I’d get it checked out if you’re not confident (don’t ask how I know; it’s definitely absolutely not from experience).

I’ve been feeling pleased with myself, getting a miniature painting to completion (for the August painting comp https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/paintcomp-august-2025/) and really enjoyed working on a single mini, right through from start to finish. So much so, that I thought I’d try something a bit different this time – “batch painting” my Blood Bowl Orc Team.

    orcs

I’m finding it really tough to stick to batch painting but my plan is to do all the skin, then all the white/grey cloth, then all the red armour, and finally all the silver/metallics. Already I’m failing to do that, and can’t help but pick a single mini and want to paint it through to finished. But I’m at least trying to stick to a plan this time!

All the green skin is done on the full team (of eleven, not sixteen – I’m not a masochist).

Next job – paint all the grey/white cloth on the whole team (and highlight) before tackling the armour…..

@sundancer – I can reply/upload from my phone but not from my “big computer” – any time I post from the PC I get this

    *doubt*

Same in Germany and you’re “expected” to call an electrician for connecting a new oven/stove/cooking fields. Nobody really controls if you did but if you have a fire and can’t prove you had called a pro… well. *shrugs*

Seems like the load balancer is still out of wack. I’m only posting from PC. So far (knocks on wood) worked fine.

“an extension cord inside a wall” – YIKES

Reminds me of this actual jobsite photo:

I’m definitely not touching anything related to gas with a 30 foot pole … 😉

Of course now the problem is finding a qualified electrician that can do the job and not make it worse. 🙁

    And not break the bank!

Thursday. This is going to be a long one. Customer gets his electricity meter changed so all Servers need to be shut down. After that they all need to be booted up again!

And after that it’s “school time” for me for a “nice” parents’ evening. Which will (probably) be an evening wasted on chat that could have been an email. Or a handout.

This leads to me not being home in time for dinner or my weekly game with Karsten. So today I might be at home and awake for Technical-Difficulties-Show.

    But first: more coffee

Why do the Orcs make me think of Christmas?

I know.  But they have green skins.  And the Gouged Eye have red armour (only original old school teams for me!)

And the colours are all deliberately “too bright” because they’re going to get hammered with a nuln oil (or maybe a strong tone) all over wash which always dulls them down.

    But I get it.

Maybe you could put snow on the bases?

And use a Red Gobbo or Santa Ork as trainer? XD

yeah … not breaking the bank would be ideal.
I hate it when these places are so damned vague. Not even a ball park figure … so I got to hope it’s not too bad.

And of course it’s going to be a few weeks before they can plan anything. That’s the only thing I know for sure at the moment.

We’ll see when there’s more details I guess.

Anyways .. plans for tomorrow include the assembly of some furniture from the blue&yellow store.
I forgot I have to assemble a hobby station too. Not sure if that’s something I can do today, but we’ll see.
It feels good that things are nearing the finish line though.

It’s always nice when something is finally ticked off as “done”. It no longer has to take up any space in your memory, to remember to come back to finish it off (whether it’s organising new future assembly or completing edge highlighting on an inch-high model). Getting stuff done is a relief in so many ways!

And use a Red Gobbo or Santa Ork as trainer?

I’ve got some awesome coaching staff models  waiting to be printed (I spent a lot on Patreon/myminifactory during my hobby hiatus). And orc cheerleaders. And rules to make them actually useful in the game, not just eye candy.
I may or may not (digitally) sculpt a beard onto a short, fat, orc coach 😉

    A very bearded move! XD
