    I snuck in a little hobby.

    A 5€ kit from a weird shop called Flying Tiger XD. More pictures in my blog but needs a lot more work done.

    Rulebooks – A4 softback.
    I love reading rulebooks. Digital rulebooks – nah. Books are to be held, and read (and, in some cases, smelt… smelled?).
    I understand the appeal of a large hardback, but that feels like it’s more for show than actual practical use. If I have a nice, well-printed book in my hand, and I’m going to read it multiple times over and pore over the words and pictures, I want a nice, pliable soft cover.

    Pledge – more work on my orc team; they’ve kind of stalled for a few weeks and are starting to make me feel bad each time I look at them. When I started them, they gave me great joy – now they’ve just become yet another thing I need to get finished and done!

    Music – I keep seeing references to 1988 in my video feeds.

    Whether you search youtube for “rock 1988” or just “hits 1988” or “top of the tops 1988” or even just “music 1988” – no matter what your favoured genre, it seems like 1988 was a fantastic year for music.

    By the way – it’s deadline day for this month’s painting competition

    though it might get pushed into tomorrow before I get the voting poll together – thanks a lot, work – so there’s still a few hours to get a last-minute entry in; we’re a bit light on entries this month, so come join us and send us some photos.

    1988 – don’t start calculating how long ago that was. *sobbs*

    I know… I was watching Transvision Vamp on you tube and realised that the lead singer  Wendy James is 60 next year

    Wendy James – known in the day as Croydon’s answer to Debbie Harry.
    I forgot how many great tunes are on those first few Transvision Vamp albums!

    Can’t argue with that… but Baby I Don’t Care!

    @sundancer Flying Tiger you say ?
    That’s a scandawegion store they have over here as well. They sell all sorts of weird cheap-ish crap.
    I think I will visit the one in town to see if they have that kit here as well.

    So far no news on the epic warpath, but I got an incoming package from meeple logistics/chronopost.
    I think that’s Monolith Batman rpg kickstarter ?

    //

    I think I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Halloween DIY videos. I remember thinking last year that I wanted to do something a bit more interesting.  And as typical I only get ideas like this when there’s practically zero time to get things done … 😀

    Definitely need to buy more candy to hand out this time. That is assuming it’s still going to happen.

    // — edit —

    Nope … it’s Conan. Still Monolith so about half right 😀

    Flying Tiger you say ?

    Yes. They had other sets too but they didn’t look as striking on first glance.

    Anyway: FRIDAY!

    It’s nearly time to bring this month’s painting competition to an end over at https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/paintcomp-september-2025/

    (I would have done it last night, except for “technical difficulties” and an overly-sensitive spam filter on the forums!)
    Could anyone recommend a nice, easy, online (preferably free) polling site I can add images to?
    I’ve tried a couple but each time I’ve come to pull the trigger and create the poll, I get the annoying “now you give us money” page. Ideally I’d like to get this out by midday today.

    Ok. I made a poll:
    https://pollunit.com/en/polls/gql0rmx3r-k4mijfmeu3lq

    Please choose your favourite THREE and rate them with up to six stars.
    I’ve no idea how this is going to work. Let’s be honest, it’s all trust-based anyway and a bit of fun. Pick up to three you like the look of, give each some stars (you choose how many). I don’t know how we can tell if anyone abuses the polling or goes rogue and votes on all of them (or just one) but let’s see how this works out!

    (if anyone can get their entry finished by midday today, I’ll add them to the polling)

    I love the sound they make as they come flying past … 😀
