door #23 has now been opened on the Mantic advent calendars.

One more day of work ahead of me. I wish I could say I can relax, but given the amount of boxes that came out of my apartment and into my new home there’s more work to do before I can do so.

Then again … with my pc up and running again I may sneak in some gaming. I think I will move all my videogame related bits into my ‘office space’. And then I probably will move more than a few items into the attic space.

hmm … given that shops will be closed on Wednesday I may have to do some shopping ahead of time.

Pledge:

To make a serious attempt to clear away old stuff, reduce the stockpiling and hopefully fight the urge to buy more stuff.  Streamline what I have and try to declutter my mind.
Make an effort to get out of the house to catch up with friends again, for reasons I’ve become a bit reluctant to leave the house other than to go to work or to spend hours at the gym.

 

Am I done with Terrainfest?

Yes absolutely.   I had in mind at the start to get more done but towards the beginning of December it started to feel like a slog.  I have no idea if it’s been extended to the end of January or not, but for me, it has ended.  I enjoyed the journey but am really looking forward to doing something else now.

 

Am I okay?

I think so.
It’s time to move forward now.  So yes, I think I’m getting there and things will be okay.

Ultimately I need to remember that no matter what life throws at me, I’m still in a much better position than a lot of people find themselves in.  I have a loving family, a nice house, a good job, and I’m in good health.

@hutch hang in there. Loss of someone close always hits harder than you realise at first.

Yesterday I was unpacking one of the boxes that we had filled when my dad died. It had an embroidery of an animated series called “Nobody’s Boy: Remi” made by my mother. Tomorrow is Christmas and we used to get together for dinner. First time in what feels like forever I’ve got no plans. It’s going to be just another day off.

I’ve got more boxes of my own stuff to unpack and there’s more to do still, but I’m not feeling it at the moment.

@limburger I know what you mean about xmas. It’s never been the same since my parents passed away. Just my sister and me now which makes for a quiet day of food and TV.

grrr. .. I got my PS4 up and running, only to discover that I can’t sign in as it requires a two-factor code.
And guess what ? The two-factor thing was on a phone that no longer functions and not transferred to my current phone.

They do have an online form to reset the password, but disabling two-factor requires a human operator … which won’t be available until friday.

Anyways … I’m slowly opening and moving boxes to the first floor. I probably will move a few into the attic, because who needs cd’s when all of them have been digitized on my NAS ? Trying to get heavy boxes up a steep ladder isn’t going to be easy though.

Playing games that don’t need me to be signed in works. It’s the ones that need access to PSN for some reason that give errors or go into an infernal loop of asking me to sign in with no way out except killing the app/game.

Not sure why things like Spotify and Youtube need such things though, because I’m connected to my wireless network and have internet.

I haven’t found or opened the box with games yet.
I’d rather be playing my Xbox, but I haven’t found the powerbrick that powers the thing.
None of this is super important, because I’m sure I’ll find the stuff eventually.

Adam Savage said in one of his videos that he always labelled his power supplies with a marker to indicate which device they belong to. I have to admit that is a brilliant idea, because too many of the damned things are similar but not compatible. 🙁

Yes, I have a Dymo old school label maker, the punch kind, and I label EVERYTHING! It’s a life saver.

I paint the device name (or abbreviation) on to power supply plug so I know which is which is the tangle of wires behind the desk or tv.

No, you would need a second account. But you could use any weird free service for that and redirect all emails to your current address. Though any bought digital stuff would still be locked within your other account.
