### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/
https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Question of the week:
- At what point in your life did you notice: time flies fast!
And now back to the show.
November 15, 2025 at 3:09 pm #1950109My pledge: to finish my PaintComp entry.
My answer: probably at the time my daughter came into school. That was almost 9 years ago. And tonight I’m off to see some people who I went to school with and did our finals. 30 years ago. Turning 50 really does a number on your mind if you think too long about it XD
Music. Age appropriate.
November 15, 2025 at 4:01 pm #1950110Pledge: Orks.
Time: around 45. That was 8 years ago.Music:
November 15, 2025 at 4:07 pm #1950111Pledge is to carry on assembling and painting the Mounted Gunfighters, Spectral Gunfighters and Bathtime miniatures that were delivered yesterday. Might also try installing some lights in my MDF western terrain.
Time is a variable. Some days drag… so do weeks… then all of a sunday a year had gone by.
Douglas Adams wrote a line for Ford Prefect that seems appropriate, “Time is an illusion. Lunchtimes doubly so!”
November 15, 2025 at 5:17 pm #1950118Tempus fogget-it ? 😉
I don’t know … somehow the emperor returned and somehow it’s almost christmas too.maybe it’s because there’s so little of note happening that I don’t remember the stuff that happens in between ?
The pandemic definitely appears to have a erased my sense of time completely. I know it happened, but I can’t remember when it was or how long it lasted exactly. Weird …
Also seeing how my nephew has grown to be taller than me somehow was odd. Granted, I don’t get to see him often but it was strange to notice how tall he and his brother and sister had become when I last saw them.
So yeah … time does fly somehow.

Terrainfest has officially started and I still haven’t finished my hobby space.
Speaking of time flying … why is it that I can’t get anything done on a saturday ?
I remember wanting to do stuff when it was friday, but saturday has almost ended and I got f*ck all of my plans for today started.
November 15, 2025 at 9:53 pm #1950123Pledge: Have some fun and maybe splash some cash at the Warfare show tomorrow. Start a new project because these arrived today:

I’ve prepped a bucket load of Romans and want to see whether I can do the whole paintjob with these. Anyone else tried them yet?
Answer: I’m also in my 50s and time has certainly go her skates on. One moment I’m getting myself sorted on Monday morning and the next thing I know it is Saturday evening again!
November 16, 2025 at 2:50 pm #1950199Anyone else tried them yet?
I haven’t. Still waiting for them to become available in singles.
Last night we had a class reunion after 30 years. I had some beers and shots and most people didn’t really change much in their general behaviour. Few still behaved like the young persons they where way back when without realising how stupid that looks on a 50 year old. Worst part of the evening (aside from the rain while driving there and back on my bicycle) was the food. It was labelled “Chilli con Carne”. But it really only was minced meat with tomato sauce, beans and a metric shit-town of corn. Corn! Corn has no place in a good chilli. And there was zero spiceyness to the chilly. Very bland stuff :S So I kept myself to cola at first and then beers until they closed the bar at 1:30.
Obviously no hobby has been done so far. :S
November 16, 2025 at 4:36 pm #1950200This week’s pledge is to work on more Heroes of Might and Magic minis.
- At what point in your life did you notice: time flies fast! – That hasn’t hit me yet.
November 16, 2025 at 4:39 pm #1950201@danlee just wait ’til you start referring to the 80’s (or anything before 2000) as only a few years ago 😉
it hits even harder when other folk start talking about ‘old’ music and it’s stuff you remember from the early 2000’s
November 16, 2025 at 6:15 pm #1950210Anyone else tried them yet?
Sort of… I bought some cheap acrylic pens from amazon that cost £17 for 68 pens. They work ok for me.
November 17, 2025 at 10:21 am #1950313November 17, 2025 at 6:14 pm #1950438November 17, 2025 at 8:12 pm #1950439@limburger that’s, that’s the last straw. I’m lighting the building on fire.
November 17, 2025 at 9:37 pm #1950451Monday here, bah.
Pledge – Stay off eBay, after this one last auction, of course. The Paint Comp entry needs starting, and I could use a break from Nobvember, so it’s next on the block. Models arrived yesterday. After that, the Deffkoptas are primed and ready, plus another band of boyz to finish. Hurrah 🙂
On time flying by, it certainly does seem to be the case. It’s the most coveted of things, to be able to defy time. I’m not even past my mid-30s, and I’m already feeling the time warp.
Of paint markers, I haven’t tried them, but with the amount of dried paint pots I have around, it might be worth a go. Are they refillable?
