    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • How do you deal with two weeks and no weekender/XLBS plus time adjustment?!

And now back to the show.

First of all: apologies for not getting this started earlier. My brain just wouldn’t brain on the weekend.

Pledge: Paint minis! I have done some in the past few days.

Answer: poorly! Head all wrong! UGH!

Pledge:  Paint frantically to complete as much as possible before the end of the month tomorrow and then report that to the Hobby Pledge topic.  Then at a more sedate pace resume work on the Regiments of Renown

Answer:  Whilst a Weekender video or two are lovely I have coped without.  There seem to be plenty of things I can do instead.  I think the question is more driving at a general issue with disruption to routines.  I am fortunate in that I can impose as much or little structure on my days as I like.  As it happens I like quite a lot of structure.  Possibly that’s just me but it was definitely reinforced by spending 25 years as an educator where every 50 minutes to an hour you have to stop and then start something else.  In some settings a bell literally rang to tell you to do it.  I still have a cup of tea and toilet break at 10:30 which used to be the first breaktime/recess in the day.  I guess I have been trained in true Pavlovian style to get used to an environment with lots of structure 😀

Should I forget what time it is the dog usually comes to remind me.  She’s a big fan of predictable structure to her day too.

    Head all wrong! UGH!

@sundancer it is an irony of our hobby that we often can’t do it because our head isn’t in the right place, yet doing hobby is what helps us get our head in the right place.

Truer words have seldom be spoken. Now I need to find an audio file of your school bell and see how you react to it on the Hobby Hangout XD

    The bells… the bells… 🙂

Pledge of the week… work on MCP project (see below)

Life is full of disppointments. One more will not break me.

Lately my hobby has been disrupted by fixing stuff in the house. Today I bought a plant stand and after assembly I stained it to make it last a bit longer.

I have started a project on Marvel Crisis Protocol which is a mixture of terrain tiles, scatter terrain and miniatures painting (with some X-men to assemble later this week as I weakened and bought the X-Men Starter from america).

I can’t disaggree with the sentiment of ‘need to be right frame of mind to hobby’. Just having the stuff does not mean you are in the right mind to do it. If you don’t feel like doing it… you make a mess of it.

As for the clocks changing… by body clock thinks I still work for a living and I just get up when I wake which is usually about 5:30.

    Pledge: Nurgle stuff.

    Time: Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones beside the fire
    Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

yeah … head needs to be in the right space.
Sometimes I just don’t feel like doing a single thing.

I’ve been kind of trying to get started on a little project of mine, but other than arguing with ‘AI’ I haven’t made any real progress yet.

The weekender and XLBS may eat into my hobby time, but they provide a bit of structure and inspiration too.

I won’t go into details, but I went to doctor today and I was so anxious that I collapsed in the surgery.

Great way to jump the queue on appointments. No so good for the ego as I’m normally the ‘strong one’ that everyone relies on.

Tests to follow. Back home and calmed down now. No hobby today as I feel drained.
