Late to the party as work is going into high gear despite the world going to pieces around us. I pledge to keep at the base work and maybe even dig out some of the first pieces to paint should I get directed to stay at home and indoors.
Yes, I wash my hands. I also have to do that to my face since lunch would be pretty bad with the crap I get all over me from work.
Nope, money going to other things means no going to social events… I mean, people.
Unpainted mini supply will see me through a while through this and depends on how much airbrushing I do. Since I don’t trust the humidity of storage I have plenty.
I’ll catch the thread later and read through more of the fun everybody is up to.

I’m currently thinking of doing something more active in the hobby to get my mind of things… more on that in about 7 hours, when I’m home 😉
March 17, 2020 at 4:39 pm #1497702More active? Interesting. Painting while on an exercise bike? Video conference spin-classes while priming your lead pile? I like it!
In preparation for the forth-coming enforced “work from home” that’s coming (in the UK we’ve been in denial for too long and it looks like things are about to “get real” pretty soon) I’ve accidentally started a new project. So I started a new project: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1497669/

not sure … all this enforced staying at home and working is messing with my sense of time.
Anyways … Clash of Spears arrived about a day earlier than expected, so that’s good 🙂
now sleepy time …
March 18, 2020 at 1:29 am #1497820@sundancer ‘Wizards’, it was a good bit of animation by Ralph Bakshi. I think this came out after his work on ‘Lord of the Rings’. I just remember the rotoscoping being a weird effect the first time I saw it.
@limburger If you must be up watch cartoon animation. I’m sure that @avernos would sit by on Discord to have an MST3K session through them.
*sigh* I caved and bought greenstuff. That should help with the building bug biting me.
Music!

March 18, 2020 at 11:08 am #1497892@sundancer Yes, a modelling putty. Its better than saying I was out for buying brown stuff… which might be used for modelling bulk I hear.
For the moment I’m thinking that I need to dig into my stored hobby stuff again in order to pull the headstones I cut from a mini for current work. I don’t have the patience to sculpt whole new ones.
Speaking of impatience I managed to find S scale deer and elk antlers on Shapeways.com . I will however wait to buy any as I think there might be hope to use one of my bases for a cowboy on horseback.
March 18, 2020 at 11:48 am #1497900brownstuff is best for sharp detail with crisp edges. If you want bulk use milliputt or a mix of Milli and kneadite
March 18, 2020 at 6:22 pm #1497980I’ve used Milli black and gotten crisp edges about 20 mins after mixing (a bit messy in the process). I had heard that the brown putty was firmer so that makes sense for detail. As far as green putty I’m not so keen on the plastic feel after curing. The polymer texture just feels off compared to painting it. Maybe its just the lack of tooth. I went to Apoxiesculpt for that reason and currently lament being unable to find my most recent containers.
