He’s back, hooray
I would have to play the US every time. Just love those choppers.
“Get to the Chappa!!”
Lol, just watched that today.
If you’re doing “blue vs. blue” with the Americans, I think it would be “blue vs. grey”: Civil War Part II – This Time it’s Personal.
Choppers are ‘iconic’ to Vietnam. Couldn’t resist myself. The force is strong with that one my young Padawans.
have to win an army….. must buy opposite one :))
Jeez, you are an editing FIEND, Justin.
I like the sneakiness of the PAVN army.
Really torn between American and PAVN after this one. Dave makes the PAVN sound really attractive.
I want to play as GARY OWEN!
choppers are so cool
Fantastic breakdown, guys. Now I can’t for the life of me decide which force to build.
My desire for hour long videos has been sated! Many thanks All! Great review.
I would chose veteran over fearless.
So would I I would go for veteran any time….
Some good insights there, and the teamplay between Warren and Dave seems to work fine. Please carry on, sirs!
Gotta agree with this. They form an very formidable team.
And on the CV vs FT question. IMHO, CV is one of the most forgiving ratings to play with. The extra cost is justified by the boost in survivability and skill checks. (Plus it means you have less things to paint!)
I haven’t won any thing since I won a chook raffle at the pub in the nineties, but you got to be in it to win it……
in it to win it!
I’ve Just about got round to finishing off my small starter armies I got from Wargames Illustrated a few years ago, just a platoon or two each side – so think I will be expanding the forces with some of this new stuff – also some custom ‘Hollywood’ rules will most likely be devised..
I’m a bit of a book fiend and Flames of War churn out a lot of tomes. thus seeing inside the book itself for the content is jolly welcome, thank you.
The ANZACS are looking even better as an army for me. Might even get some PAVN for variety \.
The return of Dave. Awesome!
Correct me if I’m wrong but was that a FART I heard @ 39:47, it was after Dave finished talking. 😉
wasn’t me
hmm i c someone lifting his cheeck 🙂
most definatly a FART. and you can c ho the culpret is 🙂
I think you’re safe for now Warren. Lol
welcome back dave 🙂
i knew that warren would take the americans 😉
but as i said bevore i would prefer the vc, because i like their play style. and after hearing the special rules of them i think when i will start i would take a whole infanterie battalion and placing ambushes all over the place. hrhr
Thx guys for your talking about the book and all the information.
But Dave honestly please dont forget the (west)german battle tanks of this time and after that. Dont worry i would not repeat my thread about them again 😉
So guys iam looking forward to the last day of nam week.
Hueys are just great. I like how the ANZACs got their first gunships – carted a truckload of beer over to a US base, and traded it for a Huey gunship.
well them giving away beer is a stoning offence back home
Wow, there’s a lot more to VC than just infantry. I love all those options… minefields, machinegun nests…..
Welcome back Dave.
I completely agree with the idea that 15mm is a fantastic scale to play games in. Lots of figure manufacturers to choose from, superb detail, big enought to paint details on to get character, tabletop weapon ranges look a bit more realistic too and, lets face it, it’s cheaper!
Really great vid, you guy make it so hard to choose between the forces
Thanks for a good show! Lots of good info about the armylists. Now to decide what im going to play 🙂
don’t know why I bother, you’ve sold it to me Beasts of War! soon as I have the dosh looks like I’ll be putting in some mahoosive orders… the fun I’ll have with it all can wipe away the tears from the effect its gonna have on my bank balance haha
Sounds cool looks like I’m going to need a 3rd job.
A welcome return for Dave. So glad he turned down the role of the next Doctor and returned to us on Beasts of War.
Love the fact that the Vietnam book is very much a modern warfare book, mixed in with a health dose of guerilla tactics.
As an Aussie, I’m ever so glad Dave made mention of the ANZAC forces as well.
nam games looks intresting
Haven’t tried Flames of War before (or even looked at ‘Nam as a game setting), but these models are really tempting. Love the tanks and the helicopters.
Loving this week guys, keep it coming!
the doctor is in!!!
Hooray for “Amazing Dave”.
When i get my hands on this im going to adapt it into an rpg like campaign where multiple factions under the same army vie for the same objectives. US marines and air cav trying to seek and destroy a hidden PAVN base. NVA and VC trying to take different points in Saigon before the American player is reinforced
Once again I’ve been tempted to place an order. My bank balance is under threat.
Could take forever painting all the Vietnamese infantry necessary for an army.
Dave, you’re funny cool eheh
I think i will go for a full helicopters army
Awesome stuff. Wouldn’t mind getting into some of that…
The more I hear the more interested I get
Loving the indepth look guys 😀
Black Horse all the way for me. ACAVs, tanks and Choppers.
It would be easy enough to justify blue on blue. Just deem it a field training exercise (FTX).
Army lists are mind blowing. Everything seems OP… Yet some how it all just work? Cannot wait to see a proper game.
Great rulebook and period to game. My friend Mark has a fantastic 20mm collection and we play Vietnam using the same basing and movements as 15mm.
the local forces look cool love the m113 kits. hope to build up an army or 2 my tour of duty
The choppers look like fun.
Does this mean the VC get no Choppas? 🙁
really like those choppers
I like the little helicopter. Looks like a fun model to paint up. I picked up the ruleset when it was free but haven’t played a game yet.
random comment to win stuff
I really want this book now. I’ve never played Flames of War, and I think like is said the smash across the battlefield thing doesn’t really appeal. But chopper deployment, and MINEFIELDS!!! That’s cool!
PAVN looking more tempting…but the US get all the cool toys
Great video.
Had been considering flames of war for a time. Vietnam era makes it even more appealing.
Its great to see Warren getting bitten by the historical bug! Both Armies seem to have so many options.
Both forces sound interesting for their own reasons. Nice overview guys. Makes it really hard to pick one.
Ambushing minefields is quite a cool feature. Not sure of their point when you can also take the booby traps for only a fraction of the points but I suppose need to keep the options open.
I hope they release models for the Special Tasks Company. Specific models that is.
loving the coverage, give me more!!!
Another good video and thanks for all the theme music also.
Please guys, get a full demo battle up and running as soon as you can! This game looks fascinating.
God I love that Patton tank. Wallet is taking a beating this week!
I grew up as a tanker in the early eighties…. most of my leadership were Vietnam war vets… one of my Platoon Sergeants was hit by an RPG… spent months in a burn center to recover… refused disability… I did a “spit-take” when I saw him appear on an episode of the television series “Mail Call”…..
Naturally, I’ll have to build a Tank company……..
Best theme week yet guys. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Especially nice touch with the music. And i liked the multiple unboxings spread over the week.
I’m going on a copy+paste mission now to maybe win an army. If not, i’ll be buying one anyway.
Patton tank it lives up to it namesake
Great review of the options within the book. I enjoyed the history trip as well.
FoW is awesome
It’s a great box, I think it’s one of the best BF has done.
Ben
I believe it was Warren Buffet who said, “You can kill ten of our men for every one we kill of yours, and in the end it will be you who tire of it.” And that is why I’m going to play VC.
Realy cool book
