Third theme week in a row. In all seriousness: kudos to the team for pulling this off. I’m not going to try to imagine the work that went into all of this. This is why I am a Backstager. Or CoG. Or OTTer. What ever you prefer. 🙂
BoWler? Yeah, it’s showing. “Old guard” here (and German, too) ;P
I am comment to win, and you can, too!
Good video, I’ve never actually tried playing Infinity, but this edition might be the one.
It’s a really in depth game but the core concepts are straightforward
Try it. Regardless of winning a box or not.
It’s kind of easy to learn but complex to master. You can basically play with whatever choices you like from your faction’s roster. Nothing is obsolete and there are few rock paper scissors solitions and you can’t cover every approach. But it’s recomended to really work out the sweet spots of your troops and learn how to make propper use of them (sometimes a piece of Equipment makes all the difference).
Thank you for all the content. You guys have been busting your asses off.
Good luck all
Infinity looks really interesting, but I’m always reluctant to get involved in games that have been around a long time because of the feeling that I can never catch up. The new N5 edition looks like a great place to start for new players, though, so hopefully I can win a copy.
Question: Will the Yamabushi figure that comes with pre-ordering Operation: Sandtrap be available separately later? It is by far the coolest figure in the set.
Pretty much my thoughts! Infinity seems to have been around forever, I always got the feeling it would be a big investment in time to get into it but this time maybe I will!
Infinity is pretty new; I used to buy Corvus Belli when their market was only 15mm historical … they were very small as a company. But had awesome 15mm figures. They specialized in DBA. 2.0/2.1/2.2 sets. They were among the best at what they did. I had Greek and Romans from CB.
Add: I looked it up! Infinity launched in 2005.
So only 19 years old.
2001 – CB starts as historical 15mm minis
2002 – Warcrow 28mm launches
2005 – Infinity!
Etc.
Nearly twenty years old is not something I would consider “pretty new” in this context. That’s almost two full decades. There are people who are now adults that were born AFTER Infinity released.
Sure, just like there are some who started gaming with D&D first white box edition here.
Some who remember a world without computers. The internet! Who watched the Soviet Union collapse. Who lived without the always connected-ness of phones. VHS movies in your home, or BetaMAX if you were weird. When physical format died, and Blockbuster, too! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!
Remember when TV would actually turn off at night?
It’s all perspective, I guess.
There are also some people with grandkids. Maybe even great grandkids! Imagine that!
The possible scenarios are ENDLESS!
When I started going to uni, Infinity had just started showing up at my FLGS. I loved the world and game and immediately jumped in. Still have my minis from then 🥲. The minis have gone from great to fantastic over the years and the developing world is awesome. The only downside, in my opinion, is that if you don’t play it often enough, you never really internalise the ruleset. Sure, the basics are easy, but the extras really have you flipping through the rulebook. I might give CodeOne a try, which is the supposedly simplified ruleset.
I’m quite happy with how the fireteams were toned down, and the other small rule changes too.
I am very excited for N5. Can’t wait to make a list. Great rules changes.
These new rules look really great. I love the changes to fireteams. I Will be sad to see so many sectorials from PanO go. But I underskabe the decision.
All good news. Looks like nice reset of the rules.
Looking forward to getting stuck into this one!
I may be brand new to this game, but Fireteams look super fun
Great to see the Irish community represented! We need to get bigger-er!!!
Looking forward to Infinity forever.
Nice one!
If there releasing the rules on the 18t November, would that include a how to play series. Infinity gets talked about in very positive terms and has bee around a while, and great to have a lore box set strater. But something more accessible for playing?
You’ll see some gameplay towards the end of the week but we might (wink wink) be coming back with some more in the near future to help newcomers.
Very excited for this edition and my ISS to get some love!
I’m not sure I got all the rules changes properly from the video but that might be due to me being tired. Streamlining is welcome because Infinity always had a load of different and often very situation specific skills. Really going to read the rules carefully.
nice to see some improvements in the rules
good to know my main force tohaa is still viable
I appreciate being given the go ahead to panic. It does wonders for my blood pressure.
I don’t know much about the game other than it’s popular in my area. Seeing so many positive comments from veteran players has me very interested in picking up this new box.
As a Player since 2nd Edition, I’m very interested in seeing what all has changed. Also, As a QK player I am happy to see them still around.
So much goodness in a box. Look forward to the new rules
Won’t be getting sandtrap but excited to finally get more into this edition than N4. Thanks for all yall do.
I’m looking forward to learning more about the new rules in the future. Would be nice to use Fireteams in any list. Definitely like the new martial arts rules.
Looks interesting. Looking forward to further videos
Be interesting to see how the new version works , played the intro game and had lots of fun, but not the fill rules .
The fireteam changes look interesting. Would like to know what the fireteam compositions would be for vanilla armies.
i mean i dig theses new FT rules!
Carlos is the best at pumping up releases
Why is this themed week hosted by the only OTT staffer who regularly says he hates D20 based systems? Seems like an odd choice.
Carlos always makes things sound so clear and easy. Great job with the themed weeks OTT!
I’ve been out of Infinity since its second edition, but I’m really tempted to come back right now!
This is really looking to to my eyes. Maybe not the wallet lol.
Alors la c’est difficile pour moi de dire quelque-chose sur les règles je ne parle pas anglais , j’attends donc la version française, mais très intéressé par le concept de fireteam, à suivre.
Great vid guys. Thanks for feeding my mini addiction.
Love these Fireteam changes. Just the best!
This may be a good jumping on point.
Fireteams seemed really good in N4. Hopefully less important in N5
I’m just looking into getting into Infinity N4 from 40K. This looks super interesting, and I can’t wait to actually try getting into it.
This looks like a good change to fireteams. Seems simpler, and might feel less like being steam-rollered if you are from the receiving end, due to all the benefits the N4 rules provide.
Yes please, loving the new miniatures
More factions get fire teams
Cool
Also I love the fact CB are balancing fire teams
As they have been a bit over powered for a while
Thanks guys for a great video
Love that JSA are their own faction.
MAKE VARUNA GREAT AGAIN. I don´t play Varuna, but have several friends with armeis that they can´t play next month
looking forward to trying out the fireteams!
As someone who only recently began dabbling in Infinity N4 I’m interested to see how many bigger changes there are or if it will mostly be smaller tweaks and fine tuning
Does sound like a fantastic interesting wee unit game for people who don’t like to make a lot of figures for gaming with and a good time to get on the table for gaming with
Want to give this a go
The explanations of these are pretty easy to follow and I love the minis – I’m a big Cyberpunk genre fan too
Every video with Carlos in is instantly better than any content without him 🙂
The game seems complicated but intuitive and as far as I understand there is a way to build your game knowledge by adding complexity incrementally (like fireteams etc)?
I am considering introducing myself into it, but also other players that have not played miniature games.
Excellent changes, great series of videos!
As a JSA player I am sooooo pumped for this new edition. Looking forward to kicking ass and taking names.
“Everything is official…unless it changes.” lol
Hiii
So hyped!
cannot wait to test fireteams in n5 😀
Happy to see they toned down the fire teams a bit. Also cool way of doing the martial arts and bonuses for using the advantage mechanism from the ttrpg game.
Another interesting update to this game
A little concerned about defencing in N5 but otherwise welcome back vanilla
Carlos: “This is happening, OK.”
It looks like one of my Adriana forces didn’t make it.
It looks like my old sectorials have all survived. Now I just have to find where I stashed my old models!
It’s great to have fireteams bonus been downgraded, there really were moments it was boring to face some of ’em.
Excited for the new duo rules, glad there’s more for them.
A bit sad how they changed fireteams. Older way maybe was a bit overpowered, but i had reasons to keep them constant
