Phil Yates' World War II dogfighting wargame, Angels One Sixwill be coming to Kickstarter later this year and so the team has put together a bit of a design update covering what stage the game and the components/miniatures are at ahead of the project's launch.

At the core of the updates is the finalisation of the Rulebook. It has now been designed to look like a 1940s booklet that would have been used by pilots of the period. Al Deere’s Spitfire is still front and centre but the sky has been removed in favour of this classic manual look that fits the period.

The layout on the interior has also been finalised and is going to be packed full of clear graphics which help you get used to how to play the game. I like the addition of Wing Commander Mouse, who guides you through as a plucky mascot.

This is all great and will most likely help those new to the ideas presented in this game get their head around the mechanics. I am really eager to play this game myself in the future, especially with the lovely miniatures they have planned.

Miniature Production

Work is still going on when it comes to getting the planes ready to suit the project's release on Kickstarter. Everything is now being done behind the scenes to make sure that the likes of the Spitfire and Messerschmitt Me 109 will be ready to go!

The miniatures that you get as part of the game will be pre-painted and ready to go. They are taking some extra time to make sure that, adjusting for light, the historical colours are spot on for both the British and the Germans. You can also see them mounted on their glorious bases with all of the extra gubbins.

Savage Mouse Games has also talked about the production of the different dice in the game, covering the dice that you'll roll for your actions as well as the specific dice for the British and the Germans. You can see more about the dice and such over on the blog for Angels One Six.

Phil and the team has said that whilst things are going slower than they had hoped, they expect that everything will be ready within six months, meaning that Angels One Six should launch as a project on Kickstarter later in 2026.
