New McCullough Game, Warriors Of Athena, Is Now Available!

Joseph A. McCullough's new Fantasy skirmish game, Warriors of Athena, is now available. It might be sold out from Osprey Games but you should be able to find the game at your friendly local gaming stores and online! It's sold well!
Warriors of Athena: Heroes // Osprey Games
Warriors of Athena is slightly different from previous McCullough games in that it is spread across two different books. In the first book, Heroes, you'll find the rules for making your hero and their retinue. There are plenty of different tables for you to sink your teeth into as you find out what gods they are descended from and what powers they can unlock!
Because Warriors of Athena has been designed as a solo and cooperative wargame, you'll need somewhere between two and ten miniatures for your "warband". When making a hero and retinue for two players, you might only need to paint two figures!
The Heroes book also goes through how to bring your heroes into a campaign and chart their progress. This book is then twinned with the needed Quests book.
Warriors of Athena: Quests // Osprey Games
Quests include an impressive amount of scenarios for you to play through, which can either be played solo, cooperatively or with one person in your group taking on the role of the Oracle or Games Master. Each scenario contains a little bit of roleplaying where you are posed questions as heroes. This then leads to scenarios that are linked together and offer interesting objectives beyond simply slaying your opponents. The first scenario has you battling against mythical bees!
The Quests book also features the bestiary for the game, featuring all of the monsters that you'll face. For this reason, you will need both of these books to play Warriors of Athena. To a degree, I can see why people weren't happy about the books being separated but once I read through them, I can see why it was done. There's just too much content to fit into one book and separating it like a Player's Handbook and a Dungeon Master's Guide/Monster Manual makes a lot of sense.
The buy-in to Warriors of Athena is also pretty low. You won't need that many miniatures to play. You can also (like with Frostgrave and Stargrave) just buy the monsters you need on a scenario-by-scenario basis. I think this one has some staying power!
What do you think of Warriors of Athena? Will you be diving in?
