North Star Tease Upcoming Elf Light Infantry For Oathmark
March 20, 2020 by brennon
North Star Military Figures recently showed off some more peeks at a few of the possible combinations you can run with when building armies for use in Oathmark: Battles Of The Lost Age. Here we have a peek at the Elf Light Infantry kit.
The kit comes with a range of plastic Elves who are bereft of armour like on the previous sprues. Instead, they are wearing cloth and leather armour and come armed with weapons and accessories that would befit warriors of a more skirmishing nature.
I like the traditional sword and shield look but I am really excited by the hooded and masked version that they also showed off. These particular kit mixes have been somewhat smashed together but you'll be able to get a bit more dynamism out of the kit when it arrives on your doorstep.
Each of the new kits is focused towards bringing the core of a force to the tabletop for Oathmark. You'll find options for both regular Infantry, Heavy/Light Infantry and also Cavalry as part of the core factions in the game and of course, the additional metal characters who will be commanding your force.
I am still very much enamoured by the world of Oathmark and if you'd like to have a read of my thoughts on the book you can check that out HERE. I do a bit of a deep dive into the rulebook and go through the mechanics of how the game works and building Kingdoms within its systems.
I am very much looking forward to seeing what North Star have in the works for the Orcs and Humans next!
What do you think of these new previews?

hmmm they look kinda photoshopped…
But they’re nice. I like the helmets a lot.
I’m really looking forwards to seeing how Oathmark pans out, at the moment they have
Goblin Infantry
Goblin Wolf Riders
Elf Infantry
“NEW” Elf Light Infantry
Dwarf Infantry
Dwarf Heavy Infantry
Human Infantry
That’s quite a few releases in plastic they’ve been quietly releasing over the past couple of years before the game even came out. As an aside they were planning on releasing/showcasing the game at Salute, but they’ve posted they intend to do a possible “NickStarter” style release on the same date (so you can order online).
Because this hasn’t been a kickstarter, you’ve not been spammed with news articles building up the usual Kickstarter hype (instead they’ve done it “old school”), and it HAS been a little different in seeing the minis arrive before the rules.
But it’s been a while since we’ve seen a rank and file fantasy game come out (they only other one is Conquest, but that’s in 35/32mm). Like KoW it’s looks like it’s going to be figure agnostic, although its individual model removal for casualties vs the scenic bases for KoW (so it’s more like Warhammer Fantasy).
But where the came may shine is the campaign rules, and the kingdom mechanics (allowing you to ally with anyone).
But I’m hoping to see some more “human” releases soon, and some more Cavalry for both Elves and Human (Dwarfs don’t use cavalry, and DEFINATELY not on pigs). But with six (now seven) plastic box set released, you should be good to start building up the core of your armies (most of the infantry boxes bar the Dwarf Heavy Infantry) allow you to build spears, archers and sword and board troops.
@eldrich Yup it’s a photoshop (hence the weird posing on the archer), think it’s been built up from the sprue photo, not sure?
Edit: just found out the new Elf Light Infantry is going to be Archers and Sword and Board only 🙁
That is where kit bashing comes in
More elfy goodness for you @eldarveteran 😀 .
I am ramping up an order of Goblins for a 2500 points army. I will use GW trolls and may a couple of the Shadespire riders for heroes/captains. Also, Alternative Armies (http://alternative-armies.blogspot.com/2019/08/oh36-armoured-goblin-crew-and-torsion.html ) makes a nice looking catapult and crew.
Then will comes dwarves (repurposing Bugman’s Rangers), humans and elves.
the helmeted ones would make good high elves.
I really can’t wait to get my hands on this rule book. I watched a good flip thru on Rob Oren’s youtube channel the other day. He goes over some of the rules. Enough to really wet the appetite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obeba1EEx3c These Elves look good and I will get them. I have 2 of the elf boxes already and really like them. They take me back to old school WHFB 2 or 3 ed starter. Back when everybody was doing the mithril silver and blue wash paint jobs.
I have little interest in the game but the minis are very nice. I’ve been building a very large dwarf army for Saga and Warlords of Erehwon using the Oathmark dwarf infantry.
