Five Parsecs From Home, the hit Sci-Fi skirmish game, expands with a brand new set of rules now available from Modiphius. Planetfall is a new set of standalone rules for you to use when diving into Sci-Fi exploration and adventure on the tabletop.

Planetfall - Five Parsecs From Home

Planetfall // Five Parsecs From Home

Planetfall has been designed as a solo and cooperative adventure game where you take on the role of a crew of colonists, scientists and explorers who have been sent out into the black by the Unit of Humankind. You are charged with building a colony on an alien world which is now home to crashed starships from aeons past and dangerous ancient ruins! That's not to mention the mysterious and hostile lifeforms on the planet.

Throughout the course of your campaign, you'll have the chance to direct the expansion of your colony and the research that it undertakes. You'll also be able to bring your characters to the tabletop in tactical miniatures combat, a staple of Five Parsecs From Home.

You can use any miniatures to play Five Parsecs From Home and you will only ever really need a handful for both yourself and your enemies. The rules are also compatible with the original Five Parsecs From Home, Tactics and Bug Hunt, so you can bring all of them together for a grand space adventure.

Inside the book, you'll find...

  • Easy combat rules allow a single player to handle action quickly.
  • Packed with random tables including artefacts, colony events, crises, and more.
  • 14 mission types ranging from exploration to pitched battles to delves among alien ruins.
  • Tactical enemies including pirates, renegades, outlaws, alien raiders, K’Erin landing parties, converted recon teams... even hostile fellow colonists.
  • In-depth research system with 13 scientific theories, 40 buildings, and 8 augmentations to unlock.
  • As you explore, you will map out the world around your colony and create your own unique encounter tables, filled with bizarre and evolving table-generated lifeforms.
  • Assailants specific to the Kensington Reach setting: Introducing the psionic, saurian Slyn and ancient robot guardians, the Sleepers.
  • Multiple epic endings possible for your colony.

It sounds like another in-depth experience from the folks behind the legendary Five Parsecs From Home. If you're looking to dive into a bit of solo and cooperative Sci-Fi wargaming, then this really does seem to be the rules to go for. They have expanded Five Parsecs From Home so much now that it should allow you to play out whatever movie or TV show has been your inspiration!

What do you think about what they are offering with Planetfall? If you've played some of the existing entries in the series, then it would be great to hear your thoughts on the game mechanics and why they work (or don't work) for you. I should also note that you can get the rules physically AND digitally, so you have plenty of options.
