About the Project

With @oriskany s announcement that he's going to be publishing Darkstar (https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1185947/) and after seeing @bloodstrike s project (https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1305447/) I decided to star designing some ship's of my own. Basically I designed some ships for Darkstar a few weeks ago and I've decided to give them some names and a few fluffy extras. All of the ships are standard, the fluff is just for fun not for in game effects. With the fleet built and the basics of the game under my belt it was time to start a campaign.

The second of the two Destroyers is the HMS Wills an older Commonwealth Class Destroyer.

The Wills is older than it’s sister ship. It was designed before the Royal Navy decided it’s destroyers needed more power and so it’s permanent external generators were installed after it was already in service. The only place left for the generators was at the front of the ship, the only issue with this placement is that it blocked the two forward guns from firing directly forwards meaning the HMS Wills relies more on broadsides than other ships.

The HMS Wills acts as a support vessel for the HMS Burke and the two operate in unison as forward scouts for the rest of their squadron.

The Rear gun turret is also limited to firing broadsides thanks to the addition of a large hanger for transporting colonists. At the time of the HMS Wills being upgraded there was a need for more space for the colonists heading to the system. Since the HMS Wills was in the dry-dock it was decided to house the colonists aboard it. Now the colonists have disembarked the former transport space is being used as a makeshift hospital and fighter repair station.

The HMS Wills is named after the famous Australian Explorer William John Wills who was the second in command of the famous Burke and Wills expedition who attempted to travel across Australia from South to North.

Both Burke and Wills died during the expedition although the expedition itself was a success.

Captained by the Honourable Commander Robert Lewis

The first of the two Destroyers is the HMS Burke a Commonwealth Class Destroyer.

The Burke is more suited for deterance than it’s sister ship. It possesses a single large armoured gun housing rather than several smaller turrets meaning it can bring a large amount of guns to bear quickly against an enemy which is it’s main defence in chance engagements with other ships of similar size but gives the HMS Burke no real edge in larger engagements.

The Front of the ship has a large circular radar like apparatus that enables the Burke to transmit signals quickly to the other ships in the sector.

On the back of the HMS Burke are two additional, permanent exterior Generators that provide extra power and allow the HMS Burke to operate for longer without needing to return for resupply.

The HMS Burke is named after the famous Australian Explorer Robert O’Hara Burke who lead the famous Burke and Wills expedition who attempted to travel across Australia from South to North.

Both Burke and Wills died during the expedition although the expedition itself was a success.

Defending Her Majesty's Colonies in the far reaches of Space are the men of Task Force Trafalgar

Task Force Trafalgar has two main groups.

The Frist known as Nelson’s Squadron is lead by the HMS Nelson.

The Second known as Collingwood’s Squadron is lead by the HMS Collingwood.

The Ship’s are named after Admiral Horatio Nelson and his second in Command at Trafalgar, Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood.

I’ve decided to focus on the lead elements of Collingwood’s Squadron. (Collingwood being my favourite of the two Admirals)

The element consists of Two Destroyers, a Reconnaissance Destroyer, Two Light Cruiser and a Heavy Cruiser.
