Saturday, Day 2
So been working all morning, got the armour finished and some colour on the weapons. I did think I would be further along but I hope to get these done today and the leman Russ tomorrow
Friday Progress
The plan for the weekend is get everything in the box painted and donning the COG t-shirt I’ve made a start just after lunch. As I have three of these boxes plus some other stuff anything else I get done is a bonus.
I left the tracks off this as I am going to spray them separately and apply them once the base colours are done on the main body.
After an unexpected interruption, I’ve finally got everything built. I’ve superglued them to their bases for now so I have something to hold while painting them but I will make some cork bases for them once they are painted.
Sprayed these between thunderstorms so the finish might not be the best
I’ve done the trousers and the tunic with contrast paint
Last post for today, the first coat of the armour colour is done, looks like I need another one as the coverage is patchy at best.
Pleased to get this far today after the earlier holdup, maybe I can get these finished by the end of the weekend?
Finished Armour Test
Finally finished the tank, it has some brass now and the front panel on the sides are painted to match the guardsman’s armour.
I may try some pigment powders later to add some weathering but I am pretty happy with that.
Armour Test paint scheme
This my Tech-Command Leman Russ (Leman Russ with a command sprue)
Basecoat of Mechanicus Standard Grey, with some airbrush patches of Vallejo grey primer.
I then washed the side with Vallejo black wash and then wiped most of it off with downward stokes (I’ve only done the side at the moment as I am still deciding if I should dry brush first and then wash it or wash it then dry brush it).
So here it is with the main colours done with washing and drybrushing all done. Gunmetal is the colour on the tracks and gunbarrel all washed with Vallejo black wash.
I am thinking trying to bring the green/blue colour from the guardsmen’s armour over onto the tank some where, maybe the front panel on the side or plates on the side of the turret.
I also want to add some brass to this so it has a bit more tie in with the trooper.
Lots to Paint
So I joined Justin in the I cant wait stakes, and I have all this for my force. I already had the Tech-Command sitting around unopened and the sprue on the right is a little extra from Warren with my last order from the OTT store, thanks again.
