Slow smoldering pre campaign game
Up against another club member here fielding the Trident Realm. We played find the plans. The plans turned up quickly but, This particular opponent like to run away as part of his strategies. Which really kinda drags things out. We timed out on this game as well. I did enjoy the fight I did get to have when I could connect with this faction. My shooting was really off. I really wanted to cast Immolation with my Warlock but, kept getting greedy and trying to cast fireballs as breath and just kept wiffing. He rolled so many damn 8s that game anyway, Immolation probably would of backfired as well. He was kicking my ass and I was near Fallbacksville when. We had to call this game end of 5th round.
Pre campaign heat
I had a couple of games first against Nightstalkers Secure the Portal. We had a great slug fest unfortunately we ran outta time. The Seductress managed to smite that pink thing off the board in one retaliation attack. Notice she had no wounds. Thank you Fatal attraction. The cliff hanger was at the portal where The Seductress delivered 8 wounds to The Nightmares boss who saved them all, then retaliated for four wounds which the Seductress save all on. Then my partner had to go “Don’t Worry be Happy”. We called it. He had it on the points.
Burnt Crispy to the Crunch
Our crunch time to the campaign kick off is here. I’ve been less productive this time around and have found I still don’t have a dedicated Tormentor Model. I had another bunch a bits I will whip one up. I got finished with highlighting base colors and working on basing. New models. Decided to build a gargoyle after all. After fielding the seductress in a warm up game I decided she needs a flying support.
I have found in the project that I so enjoy painting the faces of the devils they just have more character than any model I think I have ever painted before.
Needed some Imps unfortunately the free set only came with two so I grab someWizkids to fill it out.
Really starting to feel the heat.
We are planning on starting Ice &Iron by the end of the month so time to pick up the pace. Put the finishing touches on burnt succubus models & added some ashes to the base of a Flambearer. Also wips of guard, lurker, flambearer, and lower Abyssal grunts.
What’s grosser than grostesque??
Been working on the Warlock for quite a while. Had some big gaps of to file with green stuff from the cape joins. So many different paints went on to this one. All the same old contrasts on the Warlock. Then on the thrall hulk, flesh tone bases, washes, greyed flesh mixed hilights, bruises made with red and purple glazes. All over finished washed flesh glaze. Blood for the Blood God and Nurgle rot tech paints. As you can see he has a strong physical will but, no stomach for battle.
Still burning
Finishing up the Abyssal guard and Succubus Lurker, same paint techniques used on my Sudductress just more of the none metallic metals being practiced. Also so source lighting being practiced as well. I know I’m using quite gawky pinning. I just found in the past that with things I mount in cork small pins in feet always come out at some point with my frequent transporting. Enjoy in sweet hot suffering.
I was excited to run some cav. In this Warband so I started to mount some Abys. Guard. Unfortunately Mantic just nerf the +1 cav. Bonus on rolls when attacking smaller models so I may rethink that. I still like how it looks.
Slowly we burn
I’ve slowly getting the Despoiler ready for the table. More of the same contrast and Reaper purple were used. Dry brushing the legs and arms after basing and Paying attention to the great skeletal face with some with Contrast s.bone & reapers white. Base got a few bonus hot glue bubbles. I needed a bit cutting the arm and green stuff to get the position I wanted.
Getting crafty with bits
My buddy Price gave me some leftovers Abyssal bits from his Vanguard kick starter pledge. I wanted a few Succubus Warriors but, none are in the Warband box set. I took a couple of gargoyle bodies, they have some slots for wings and a skirt & tail on the back of the models. I filled the backs with a little white hot glue and took a sculpting tool to create a contour in center of the back. I put two beads of the glue to create buttocks on one that I didn’t have a tail for. I trimmed of access to shape. I topped each one with a succubus head. The paint scheme is going to be scorched flesh. It’s still rough and was made using with Contrast. Templ. Blk &Blood Ang. Red.
