About the Project
Revisiting some old games and bringing them back to life and seeing if they are as good as I remember. This includes a bit of painting and modeling as well was forcing folk to play them.

Classic Deathmaster
I need an assassin for my game so I thought I’d use this classic Deathmaster model. I didn’t paint this mini. I purchased it back in the early 90’s and a friend of mine painted it. I never painted anything as a teenager but my friend was always good at it. He went into our local GW store in the 90’s and showed them his work and before he knew it got a job on the Eavy metal team. I have two Skaven painted by him a few years before he got that job so I’d never touch them now. Of course my photography doesn’t give it justice.
Skaven Weapon Teams sorted
One of my favorite Minis of all time. Not sure why but I love it. 
Jezzail team, This original mini is much bette than anything that came later. I hated the 90s version that looked more like a rocket launcher.
Ebay warlord
I picked up this Skaven Warlord of ebay to match one needed for the game. He's missing a shield but I have plenty spare.
I popped him on a square base because it works better on the dungeon tile grid. The round bases for the minis in the game never fit right. Next step, paint job.Specialist Skaven
The game allows you to use some Skaven characters in your quests. I've been digging out some relevant minis from my collection and giving them a spring clean paint.

The Skaven
Like the henchmen I batch painted the Skaven in groups of five. Each five had a colour scheme based on a different Skaven Clan . I used the Skaven heraldry guide for inspiration. I have some old metal Skaven I need to dust off to be different character models.
Hired Help
On their adventure the heroes can hire some henchmen to go into the dungeon with them. Had a busy day today painting these guys up. I split them up into four different colour groups. I also got the doors painted up today.
Starting on the other three
Interesting painting such old plastics that have some very indistinct details such as boots molding into robes on the wizards.

Who ever owned the game before me never glued any of the shields on the minis apart from one. The dwarf is rather upset the human warrior has been given his shield.

For many folk Heroquest is the nostalgia game but I always preferred the Advanced version. I liked the random dungeon generation and it began my love for skaven. I haven’t owned a copy for 25 years and I managed to get a reasonably priced copy off ebay. The copy was in good condition with all the pieces intact and unpainted minis.
The box had some old character sheets from some past adventure still in the box. Nice to see someone got into the game before me.
