About the Project

Please enjoy my Arcworlde Collection! I missed the 1st Kickstarter but have followed it since and participated in the others. I did a lot at the start, went away, came back again and went away from them again. All of the models I post pictures and WIP shots off (when I remembered to do a 'before' photo) will be of models I started on in March and continued to work on beyond. If not, I will specify in the title otherwise. Playing this with my girlfriend has revitalised my interest, so please enjoy.

This model is one I primed with an army painter primer and did a few spare base coats a long, long time ago. I received it with the Battle for Troll Bridge starter set kickstarter as an expansion add-on. It is an alternative sculpt for a Bayourk Witch Dokta that eventually got its own rules. Also super full of character and satisfying to finish.

Albionnican Captain, Alternative Sculpt

This guy was also done in the last month, a resin alternative sculpt for an Albionnican Empire Captain. His sword is a bit bendy. Wanted to give him an alternative look and his character is very different from the pose compared to the one that comes with the Warband set. Black for seniority made him look unwittingly like a Napoleonic miniature which frankly really works.

This is a Halfling ‘Swords for Hire’ model, a Troll Hunter. Definetley not a Dwarf. It was a lot of fun and I love his pose and character. He was also done in the last month like the other models shown off here.

Crimson Rita

Crimson Rita is a Halfling ‘Swords for Hire’ miniature. This metal mini appears to be a tongue-in-cheek ‘Red Sonja’ reference if I’m not mistaken. I had a lot of fun painting it. The armour is two thin coats of both Leadbelcher and Stormhost silver, follwed by Contrast Akhelian Green spread thinly over it, with Stormhost Silver as an edge highlight with the scales.

Sadly I do not have a ‘before picture’ as I conincientally started back into playing ArcWorlde when my girlfriend picked it from amongst the various games I have to play and we had a great time doing so. I decided to paint up one mini for the faction she was using to have something new to use next time and it snowballed from there.

When I came back to this model, she was simply primed black and had her skin done as follows:

  • Bugmans Glow (two thin coats)
  • Cadian Fleshtone
  • Reikland Fleshshade (not too heavy)
  • Kisleve Flesh (edge highlight)

A mercenary ‘Swords for Hire’ faction model for ArcWorlde, this metal miniature is very characterful but subtle. I accidentally mistook the blade on the scythe for flash and ripped it off. Now he, unintentionally, looks like a more sinister vagabond traveler who won’t be seen with his pale skin, gaunt features or magical paraphernalia until you are too close to escape…

The following four pictures are wip from where I left off: barely having done all the basecaots and maybe a few washes which I redid.

Now a few months, if not a year and a bit later, I have returned and completed him in all his drab, decayed glory!

The Explorer (Winter Explorer)

Next up is the metal Winter Explorer. He was primed black and had some of his skin done about a year or more ago and I finished him in the last few days, before the Ossburd Cavalry. It is a wonderful model but was tough going for a while with all the gorgeous details, overlapping and adjacent textures and so characterful to boot!

Here you can see where I restarted from compared to completion!

Note: I have stopped adding flavour text as it is not formatting right when I copy and paste it from the product blurb.

Ossburd Cavalry

The Ossburd Cavalry is a resin model for the Albionnica Faction for Arcworlde. I half painted him not too long after the ‘Troubles in the North’ Kickstarter first edition expansion arrived but soon got distracted with other miniatures and games. It is a beautiful model full of character and I painted it as a mash up between a Chocobo from Final Fantasy and a giant chicken.

The first four pictures are where I restarted and WIP taken in, well, not great lighting conditions.

The Albionnican Empire stretches over many countries, and as
such their soldiers are subjected to numerous different types
of terrain and climate. Because of this, many different
creatures are found as mounts in the Empire’s armies, to help
tackle the landscape of the foreign lands.

In the North, it is common to see Albionnican Cavalrymen mounted
upon creatures known as ‘Ossburds’, name as such because, as one
soldier gleefully told me, they are ‘birds that you ride like
‘osses”.

Although skittish in the hands of an untrained rider, their
thick coat of feathers serve not only as protection from the
biting cold, but also from any attackers, and their razor sharp
beaks and claws are more than handy in a scrap.

These final four are the completed model as of yesterday evening. I think you can still see some PVA glue drying on the yellow static grass. I hope you enjoyed looking!
