About the Project
Pendraken miniatures has reeled me in with their not a kickstarter for 1809 British in the Peninsula. So I picked up some French from their current range to see how I would get on with them. They arrived today and I have already banged out a unit so I think I'll be okay. The intention is to collect 2 armies and use either Black powder or General D'armee. *EDIT* I have also picked up some Pendraken ACW from ebay so they will also be putting in an appearance here!

Vive L'Emperor
Late finish on my shift last night so I couldn’t face the massed ranks. I thought I would see what I could do with this fine fellow instead.
His jacket benefited more than most with an ink wash and highlight. His horse has some markings and deeper shading as opposed to just one colour. And I have had a go at piping the jacket.
Day five & six. Don't worry. I haven't given up yet.
Day four continues.
I thought that some might want to see how I have been doing the basing.
Day four, still plugging away.
Not only did I get the artillery done I also got another line battalion finished. I went for more of a campaign look for this one.
Day three, still on a roll.
Some Dragoons finished today.
After the under shade I went full contrast on these and it seems to work well at this scale. I know contrast is a bit like marmite but I am acquiring the taste.
Artillery tomorrow then back to the foot sloggers.
Day two, another day, another battalion.
Day two and another line battalion finished, don’t expect this every day!
I think a bit of an improvement but I’m not happy with the flesh. I have been using Vallejo air paint so far and it acts a bit like contrast paint. Most colours seem to work but the flesh comes out solid and I have been putting an agrax earthshade wash over. Tomorrow I’m hoping to get some more hobby time and I’ll give contrast Guiliman flesh a try.
I’ll be moving on to some Dragoons to break up the monotony of infantry.
Day one
Started with some under shade. Grey followed by a nuln oil wash then a white dry brush. I’m going to try starting with a white under coat on the next unit to see if I can brighten them up a bit.
Trying to use some nice thin paint to let the shade show through. More practice and experimentation needed but I am happy with this first attempt.
