Mighty Lord of Khorne Finished!

I did notice after taking the photos that I had accidently gotten some bronze paint on the finished cloak. I had to fix it before sealcoating the model.

Also not pictured was the assembled model with the Khorne flesh hound on the base.  I may have struggled slightly in getting the flesh hound flush with the base and maintaining the arm attachment. But it was done!

I finished him but it took me a couple of days to be able to upload these photos. I am happy with how he turned out in essentially a weekend of work.

I have had the skin finished on this guy for a while.  I picked him up again and embarked on completing him this weekend.

Pictured here is the entire model with base paints and washes. While not pictured I finished painting the vines and the armor yesterday. The goal is to complete everything else by the end of today!

As can be seen I finished painting the leather, the armor on the arm with the tentacles and the belly armor.  Additionally I was able to finish the spine and some random individual skulls embedded in the skin.  While not pictured I finished painting the vines yesterday.

I am using the Warhammer TV video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0cfXs_YVHE) to paint the Khorgorath and I am quite happy with how it is coming out so far.

Demon Shield

Valkya the Bloody’s shield is a standout portion of the miniature.  As such I really wanted to get it right.  In the end I think it really turned out well.  The key is to take your time on the highlighting.

Slaanesh Demon Skin

  • Base with Citadel Mechanicus Standrd Grey
  • Use Citadel Warpfiend Grey all over. Use two or three thin coats to cover the previous coat.
  • Wash with Citadel Druchii Violet
  • Focusing on the raised areas and avoiding the recesses use Citadel Warpfiend Grey to highlight.
  • Use Citadel Slaanesh Grey to pick out the edges that were painted with the previous layer.

Demon Horns

  • Base with several thin coats of Citadel Corax White
  • Wash with a mixture of 1 part Warpfiend Grey and about 4 parts of Lahmian Medium.  The consistency should be that of a wash.  I had to add about one more 1/2 part of Lahmian Medium to get my consistency right.
  • Highlight the upper 3/4 of the horns with Citadel Ulthuan Grey.
  • Focusing on the upper 1/2 of the horns highlight with Citadel White Scar.

Any lord would not be complete without a super fancy cloak and despite it being a little ragged it is no less impressive.

Red Cloak

  • Base with several thin coats of Citadel Khorne Red
  • Wash with Citadel Nuln Oil
  • Focusing on the raised folds and edges pick them out with Citadel Khorne Red
  • Again focusing on the extreme edges and folds use Citadel Wazdakka Red to pick them out

Black Cloak

  • Base with several thin coats of Citadel Eshin Grey
  • Was with Citadel Nuln Oil
  • Focusing on the raised folds and edges pick them out with Citadel Eshin Grey
  • Again focusing on the extreme edges and folds use Citadel Dawnstone to pick them out

Yellow Fabric

  • Base with Citadel XV-88
  • Wash with Citadel Agrax Earthshade
  • Use Citadel XV-88 to pick out the raised folds and edges
  • Highlight with Citadel Balor Brown on smaller sections than where the previous layer went
  • Picking out extreme edges and folds use Citadel Ushabti Bone
