About the Project

Short project showing off some scratch built terrain for Frostgrave. TerrainFest expansion - October 2023 This will have new terrain pieces and a revisit to Frostgrave Terrain that was lost in the Beasts of War version 1 to version 2 crossover. (The old stuff was basically on a forum topic of its own and the new version didn't support it) I haven't seen some of it out of the box in years so I hope I can spring clean it into something I can be more proud of today.

I used Army Painter Leather Brown once the thing was built. I masked off the majority of the stone work with newspaper.I used Army Painter Leather Brown once the thing was built. I masked off the majority of the stone work with newspaper.
I avoided the tops of the cocktail sticks. Any over spray was fine as it seemed to improve the look.I avoided the tops of the cocktail sticks. Any over spray was fine as it seemed to improve the look.
I used Model Mates Mud Brown to correct bits missed by the spray paint or to add depth to the colour. Anything that didn't look quite right was hit with snow flock.I used Model Mates Mud Brown to correct bits missed by the spray paint or to add depth to the colour. The terrain and wanting to photograph it gave me an opportunity to pick out random figures from my first Frostgrave warband and touch up the paint jobs..The terrain and wanting to photograph it gave me an opportunity to pick out random figures from my first Frostgrave warband and touch up the paint jobs..

The corners of each panel used the full height of a cocktail stick to secure it to the top. I used a pin vice pilot hole to help the stick into the packaging. The corners of each panel used the full height of a cocktail stick to secure it to the top. I used some thread here and there to suggest how makeshift it is or show running improvised repairs.I used some thread here and there to suggest how makeshift it is or show running improvised repairs.
The circle on top was a slight problem, but I either filled it in, floorboard covered it or just worked around it.The circle on top was a slight problem, but I either filled it in, floorboard covered it or just worked around it.

And 3 sides covered to offer just enough defense to fend off a few lesser creatures and retreat to a stronger position. But beyond that, the nature of the walls and the type of platform should be marginally different each time. And 3 sides covered to offer just enough defense to fend off a few lesser creatures and retreat to a stronger position. These towers continue a theme that makes sense to me. That the riches are so great in the thawing city that stagging grounds need to be set up to defend loot for as long as it takes to get pack animals to carry it all away. These towers continue a theme that makes sense to me. Lookout post made from cocktail sticks, coffee stirrers and snow flock. These rocky rises are all from one piece of packaging. I plan to have them at the corners of a mat, with some other stronghold like structures in the middle so that no one side gets full advantage of the cover and vantage they offer. The warbands have already breached the perimeter as it were. The loot being mostly in the middle I wonder what scared off the people that were willing to hack into permafrost and waste wood on defenses?Lookout post made from cocktail sticks, coffee stirrers and snow flock.
