Deserters
Many soldiers from the USA joined the fight in texas. They were encouraged by their officers to desert and go and fight. They removed official insignias and went over the border. They had some interesting fold down caps. These minis would work for the seminole war in florida 
A day's work
So today I got 24 artillery crew painted as each texan canon has 6 crew to keep it going for as long as possible. 
For my alamo walls I realised I didn't have much space for troops so I used some sarissa walls and added some platforms for my men to stand on. 
Scenario one defend the north wall texan forces complete 
Old state irregulars company
The tennessean irregular Company was led by Davy Crockett but hardened veterans came from other old states such as kentucky and mississippi. The game allows you to field one unit of these
Building work
I was drawn to these buildings from Charlie foxtrot models. The combination of mdf with resin roofs and brick inserts and chimneys really work well together. Unfortunately one of the buildings came with the wrong roof but after contacting the company they are sending the correct one
After a bit of texture and a bit of dry brushing. These will be good for the town raid scenario in the alamo book. I also like the bell that looks like its fell off a chocolate rabbit

The right roof
Charlie foxtrot models were very quick to send me the correct roof so I could finish my cart house. I sent them an image to say thanks and they popped it on their customer gallery. I do have a spare roof now so maybe I can make another building from scratch 
Mexican cavalry
After all those infantry units it makes a change to work on some cavalry to hunt down anyone escaping from the alamo
One days work. No speed paints required
Texan command
Sam Houston will be leading my final battle but I needed another couple of officers for the other scenarios 
Irregular cavalry
An interesting change in style for a Mexican unit not in fancy uniforms. These chaps represent ranchers. Ranchers and civilians acting as scouts. Good to add some colour to ponchos
