Inquisitor Jaq Draco and an Imperial Agents Army (Spring Clean Challenge 2026)

About the Project
I started this project a couple of years ago, and then with the release of Imperial Agents, I bought the Ordo Hereticus Army Battleforce but I seriously stalled, I had only opened the Battleforce once to look at contents and since then it has been hiding in my pile of shame. I also bought an Arvus Lighter as a piece of scenery to go with the Inquisitor, this I had built up into sub assemblies for painting but got no further. Just recently a friend has bought the Red Corsairs army so I thought my Imperial Agents Army would make a good Spring Clean Challenge for this year. My intention is to see how big a force I can build during this challenge. My friend and I are going to be painting and building escalation style, so currently concentrating on getting a 500pt Army so we can have a few games (I may get to include a couple of battle reports!). After that will be adding models in increments of 250pts. I have built this SCC on the original posts so you can see how I got to where I am now.

Spring Clean Challenge 2026
As explained in the Introduction I have bought this project back for the 2026 Spring Clean Challenge.
Though I am painting to have games with my friend, not sure if we will stick with 40k rules as still not sure if I like them, (need alternative activation, we may try to incorpotate this later). If we dont like the rules will try One Page Rules.
Also I have chosen what is currently considered to be one of the weakest armies in 40k but I do not care, I have always liked the more gothic aesthetics of the Inquisition and Imperium and I will be building the force of my imagination.
Though the core will be legal, I will eventually be combining this with additional units from Sisters of Battle to create a thematic force and playing this force with my friend, he is going to be allied with Orks, which is thematically appropriate.
Some of the sub assemblies of the Lighter. Floor and side wall, pilot seat and cockpit canopy. I forgot to take a picture when I first started but the interior had only been drybrushed up from a base of Khaki with an Agrax Earthshade wash up to a final skeleton bone highlight. Here I have painted all the details and highlighted, i have alo used some screen decals, fot the cockpit, and also on some of the monitors above the seats( zoom in to see more clearly).Though these will be barely visible from the exterior, if I look through back door I can still see them, and that makes me happy.- Next post I will share with you some of the progess this week.
Final Delivery for now!
I found one delivery inside my letterbox, and the piece sourced locally has been delivered tonight.
So I have finished the assembly of Googol and Grimm.
Forgeworld Shuriken pistol added to Googol, I had to scrape studs and wires from back of hand and then cut down arm. I then chamfered the end of the hand/arm and drilled out/ scrapped out hole so hand fitted inside cuff. That is all the modelling for now….
I will be painting these over the next week. I will then return to my Runequest project.
That does not mean this project will be finished as I have planned a kit bash of two kits to recreate a model I built for an inquisitor entourage, many years ago (about 20). I am also thinking off adding Grimm on foot (for Boarding Action Games) and Meh’Lindi in her Genestealer form (for the fun of it). Plus we have the new Adeptus Arbites……
Sixth Delivery and a Bit of Colour
Only one thing arrived on Saturday, a book which I decided needed adding to Jaq. He is now completed.
As nothing else has arrived, I have made a start on Jaq and Meh' Lindi. Meh' Lindi was painted black, drybrushed up to a pale blue, and then given a couple of washes of black, allowing to dry between coats. I then added the colored details. Jag was undercoated black then armour was painted in Vellejo Model Colour Burnt red, coat in dark brown mixed between black and Army Painter Oak Brown, the interior of coat and cuffs in GW Naggaroth Night. The gloves were painted in pure Oak Brown and then I mixed in Army Painter Fur Brown to the Oak Brown for holster and pouches, I then varied between these colours for book cover and other straps.Fifth Delivery - Grimm Gets Ahead
Only one package today Grimm has got a head.
Last night, I was looking at the model and realised I needed a couple of additions. First was to give him a proper Bolter Pistol, pinched this from a Horus Heresy marine. I also felt that where I had to carve out front forks, it left them looking too thin, so I added some rods cut from the Orlock Quad sprue to disguise this and I think it looks much better.I am just waiting for a roll bar from trike sprue, have got one from one of our local store’s customer, via one of their Facebook pages.
As no more modelling available, I will start painting Meh’ Lindi later tonight, I am off tomorrow so I hope I can get ger finished by the end of tomorrow.
Fourth Delivery
Only one package today, two identical Delaque Forge World heads.
So I finished Vitali Googol, I added the new head, and then greenstuffed the gaps and on his face I sculpted a bridge to convert his cyber eyes into glasses, and the underside of a bandana hiding his third eye. Still might change the cane hand if I can find a suitable pistol
Raided the bits box and added a spotlight from a Genestealer Hybrid torso, connected to pack by a handle I removed from an ammo box.
I added a purity seal to his shoulder pad. To disguise some of the joins and add detail I added a tracker with a green stuffed strap/metal hoop ( will decide when I paint). I also added the cross from the Judicars hand. Unfortunately, I damaged one of the sides of the Cross. This was a happy accident as I like the look of the cross going behind the holster.Still waiting for two parcels, Votann heads for Grimm, and a marine back pack to cut of a detail and a some insignia for Jaq.
If no parts arrive tomorrow, I will start to paint Meh’Lindi.
Also going to look for a suitable pistol for Googol on ebay.
The book is revealed part 2
Run out of space for pictures so herezare the last few
The book is revealed
@scribbs has correctly identified the models.
My interpretation of the characters from my favourite 40K books, The Inquisition War by Ian Watson. A fantastic book written by an already established author that is proper grim, quite adult and goes off piste from core lore, so sadly rarely sees a reprint.
This group represents the characters from the first book “Draco”.
Inquisitor Jaq Draco. The base model is the Primaris Judicar from the Indomitus box, I really like this model and as a bonus the armour is not immediately obvious as Space Marine. I replaced his sword with a Power Axe ( this did require some careful trimming as the sword hilt sculpted to the forearm and in the bend of the arm), and the giant egg timer was replaced with a combi bolter/flamer. I was going to use a bald space marine head and sculpt on a beard, but when looking through the Orlock trike sprue and found this head, all I had to do get head to fit was to add neck and ball joint from the original Judicar kit, and trim the underside of the beard.
I did not want to use a space marine backpack as it is too distinctive, as luck would have it the Orlock sprue has a couple of back packs that fit over the protruding connector on his back perfectly with no trimming.
I am not sure about the gun, is it to big? I still am waiting for some bits for final details along with some greenstuffing to do
Meh' Lindi, Jaq's Callidus Assassin/Consort. I have never liked the stupid hair, so that had to go, but to maintain the sense of movement, I pinched a sash from a Harlequin, I also trimmed off the belt in preparation for a green stuff sash around her waist, still to do.
Vitali Googal, the Navigator, just a head swap (still waiting for the head), I may swap the hand with the cane for a hand with a shuriken or laser pistol.
Grimm the squat, even though in my re-read of the book so far, there is only one scene in first couple of paragraphs (maybe there will be more later on) but it was an image that was in my head when sourcing models. The Vottan sprue arrived on Friday and I built the core of the bike up.
The grav/wheel support (centre of picture) was attached but I was left with a void, which had on original model another half to attach, I was debating whether I needed to fill this prior to attaching wheel's, when inspiration struck.Third Delivery, and first glimpse at the built models
A third delivery this morning, which has allowed me to build the core of the four figures.
Today I received a Primaris Judicar and the Orlock Quad.
Sadly in my excitement and immersion I forgot to take WIP photos this is why I don’t do how to guides.
I have included photos of the four figures as they are tonight. Hopefully those we’ll informed in 40k lore maybe now be able to work out who I am creating.
Once someone provides a correct answer I will provide a guide to the parts I used and how I created the models.
