About the Project
This is a Kings of War Project inspired by the OTT Team. A few weeks ago I listen to Lloyd talk about his big-headed dwarfs. I though this was a very silly idea (to be nice), but the concept of making something original had merit. Later I saw Ben's 'Golden Demon' army and I was very impressed with the simplicity yet striking look of the army...and I wanted to do something comparable. Since I was going to build an army for KOW, I decided to follow suit and do something in a similar vein. I had a lot of Stormcast Eternals I bought at a third of the price and that were sitting in a box for about two years now. Therefore I decided to use them to build a proxy Ogre army using the Stormcast as animated bronze statues. This would allow me to paint an army in a simple yet efficient way. I also will use my '100 Years War' Perry plastics as proxy goblins. This project will chronicle my progress and help me focus on finishing the project before the KOW campaign starting at my club early next year.

A Step Closer To The End
Hi everyone,
About 90% of this army is now painted. I have finished painting up the last ‘Stormcast units’ I have. These are the three units in the photos below.
Now I have to paint up 2 ‘Goblin Fleabag Sniff’ cavalry troops, two Goblin Blaster units and 4 Characters.
After playing several games of varying sizes, I have found out the hard way that chariots do wonders for the Ogrions (Ogres), so I decided to add two more units to a total of three. One is a Boomer Chariot regiment and the other is a multiple use chariot regiment. This means I can use it as a chariot regiment, troop or as a single character on a chariot.
I will be pushing this project now, because I put it off for too long doing other stuff like my barbarians for Tribal and dioramas, but now I have decided that it has to be finished before the year ends.
Until next time, stay safe and have fun.

Some More Units.
Hi everyone,
I have finished the last of my Vanillashire (Red Goblins) troops – the ‘Scout Sniffs’. These are kind of light/scout cavalry. Therefore I decided to put four on a base instead of five. This makes them look they are in a lighter formation.
They are painted in the same way as all my other Vanillashire troops, but the horses are painted in oils, simply because it is easier.
I also am currently working on two proxy Red Goblin Blaster units. Several months ago I asked the community on the forums about how to proxy them, and everyone said to invert a cart and fill it with barrels – so that is what I did.
I bought two 3D printed carts which are one piece miniatures. I cut out the barrels and vessels and added more barrels to it.
I also used two stone golems from Reaper miniatures. I converted them and used them as the mounts. I just could not let horses get blown up! The golem need some adjustment in order to fit. I had to cut out the fists and re-sculpt them, as well as cut out the legs. I did this to fit the model with the cart.
The pictures below will tell the rest of the story.
Two More Characters
Hi everyone,
A very short post today. I have finished two of the three characters I had left. The first is the proxy Ogre Warlock and the second is a mounted proxy Red Goblin Biggit.
With 4th edition Kings of War coming out, I discovered that cavalry characters are now on 50x50mm bases. So I took the time to remove the knight from its original bases and placing it on the new base. By the way, I had this figure in my collection since Warhammer 5th edition.
The little archer accompanying my Knight was a very old Citadel miniature that I bought off an old Games Workshop catalogue with an ancient system called mail order and used an order form made of paper, and that was sent in an envelope with a stamp! It’s all true I swear.
The Knight and warlock were painted in acrylics like the rest of the army. So was the archer for that matter. The horse on the other hand I painted in oils, because it is always easier and faster.
All I have left is one more character (the warlord of the army), the two proxy Red Goblin blaster units that I built in the last post; as well as completing my proxy mammoth.
I will see what I will do over the weekend.
Best regards,
NR.
The Blasters Enter The Fray.
Hi everyone,
The Blasters are ready. Penny for penny, they were not expensive at all, and I think the aesthetic fits the army and its theme.
The painting of the cart, the barrels and the golems was with acrylics and oil washes. It took longer to build than paint really and I am quite happy with them.
All I have left is the warlord and the mammoth. I am currently working on the warlord and it should be ready by Sunday. Then I will just have to continue with the mammoth. The mammoth was already half ready, and I was using it in my games, but next week I will continue painting it and the army and this project will be finally finished.
Until Sunday, have fun and stay safe.

The Warlord And The Last Character
Hi everyone,
The Warlord of my army is now – finally – painted up. I have been playing with this guy for the better part of the year, but as a grey blob. Now he can take his proper place in the front of the ranks with pride!
The painting is the same, acrylics for the armour (in order to keep the same style), but the robes I painted up in oils because it is faster and easier.
Now all that is left is the mammoth. I left the mammoth half complete because it was very finicky to paint up, but this week I will make it a point to complete the model and finally call this project done.
Until next week, stay safe and have fun.

The Mammoth Proxy - The Last model - Finally Done
Hi everyone,
The proxy mammoth is finally finished after playing it half-painted for months. Now this army is finally completed and it is ready to go into Kings of War 4th edition head on! I just have to wait for my rulebook to arrive.
Some time next week, I will post a photo of the entire painted army. Then this project will be officially completed and closed.
Now I need to complete that Gundam diorama. Until next time, stay safe and have fun.

Project Completed - The Stormcast Finally Make Sense!
Hi everyone,
This army project is now complete. In all honesty, it should have been completed at least six months ago – if I was consistent. Unfortunately, it is hard to paint the same thing over and over again when there are so many nice things to paint up.
As they say, you can’t cry over spilled milk, but I did work on…and completed several other smaller projects – so I guess it is a Ying-Yang thing.
As for the army, it is not a tournament min-max army. I just painted up one of each unit with a few exceptions:
- The warriors, since they are the core of the army,
- The crocodogs because I had 10 of them and I did not know what to do with them,
- The blasters, because it is simply more convenient to build two at the same time than just one,
- and finally the chariots, because they are the only unit in 3rd edition that give me a fighting chance of winning.
I like to play as if I was an ancient general. These guys rarely (if ever) had the army they really wanted, but rather fought with what they had and made the best of bad or worse situation. That is how I intend to play, and that is why this army is complete. I now have what I have and I will make the bet of it.
The Missing Units
I was working on some allies for this army in the form of Runegolems from the defunct Runewars miniatures battle game. I bought 4 boxes of these golems at 50% discount at FantasyWelt in Germany.
With 4th edition, allies are not an official thing anymore, so I decided to leave them for some other project in the future.
The problem is that the only reason I play 28mm scale fantasy mass battle games is because of Kings of War, and a small KOW community that is situated near where I live. If it was not for these two factors, I would stick to 10mm and 15mm mass fantasy battles. I like KOW, what can I say, it is one of my top 5 fantasy mass battle games (not the first or second though!).
Unfortunately, this little community are not narrative or campaign style gamers, but those blessed competitive gamers that love these competition events. Therefore, if I want to play my options are slim – it is either find some other solitary unicorn of a player nearby who shares my proclivities with narrative gaming or conform to the group.
That’s all folks, see you in the next army project.
Stay safe and have fun.
