About the Project
Woke up this morning and decided I'm gonna kick the hobby butterfly in the nuts and complete a project for dungeonalia today. Looked up at the pile of potential and decided that the futuristic dungeon crawler space hulk needed some tlc. I got the Box of the shelf blew of the dust then realised most of the models had been used on other projects, never fear the bits box was to the rescue so I cobbled together the bits I needed to make the set complete by this evening.

Whilst that was all drying everyone’s base rim was painted black, the marines transfers were covered in satin varnish. Then left to dry.
First attempt at mission 1for a few years
The squad lined up in the boarding torpedo. Sergent first followed by a standard terminator then the flamer followed by 2 more standard terminators
The first turn starts well by drawing 5 cp, the sergeant opens the door and moves forward taking his free shot immediately jamming his storm bolter so I use a cp to unjam him allowing him to move forward again destroying the door with his free shot. Marine 2 moves up to cover the door to the right as scans show signs of movement in that direction. The rest of the squad moves up behind the sergent
Turn 2 . The marine covering the flank opens the door and enters over watch, the other members of the squad move on towards the target keeping an eye out for the aliens appearing on the auspex trackers. The genstealers gain another blip, then reveal the blips in the room and charge down the marine on overwatch. He despatches one alien before his bolter jams the other three aliens swarm in but do not have enough points to attack.
Bam ? the jammed marine cooly unjams his bolter and fires sustained shots into the aliens bearing down on him turning each one into a foul stain in the corridor. The sergeant was not so lucky. Forgetting to go on over watch the genestealers swarm down towards him. With no cps left all he can do is watch as they scuttle closer at unnatural speed. Bam ? mission complete.
I’m very happy with how the project went especially in my self imposed time limit.
I’m pleasently surprised I managed to paint it all and get a quick game in all in a single day.
It’s definatly cooler playing the game fully painted, even if I did loose.
This project brought back loads of memories of me and my big brother battling over space hulks and hive worlds during the summer holidays in my aunt and uncles attic. I was in control of the alien genestealers and my big bro controlled the marines, hopefully now its all painted we will get a game in one day in the future.
I suppose next I have to clean up the genestealer and deathwing expansion….. but that’s for another day.
