About the Project
My buddy @144Artist is super active. I dip in now and again. I’ve got a spring cleaning project of clearing all those misc stalled painting projects that have been taking up space on my workbench.

Day 5 - …or Wordpress ate my first post
Grrrr  Here you have some photos of the models I finished up tonight. The dragon is inspired by countless Chinese dragon images I have always appreciated and in a large part is inspired by the Dragon from Spirited Away.
The unicorns are finishing touches for a Sword & Spells scenario my friend has been fascinated with for well over 40 years. Looks like I need 6 manitores  will have to source some suitable models. Perhaps will make do with some stand-ins.
The black unicorn is inspired by the Piers Anthony “Split Infinity” cover
First of the devil’s own scatter terrain is also done.
Day 4 - Well 2 pieces done
My work week is coming to a close and squeezed in a bit of painting. The dragon is done, very pleased with the serpentine nature of it. Also one of those bits of scatter terrain is finished as well… thank god.
Some better photos of these once I finish the basing.
Day 3 - Ok now to finish… SQUIRREL!
Just 2 hours of painting tonight, had a long day with family and haus chores distracting me. Setting down to paint the first task was to clear the work space.
After lamenting yesterday about a cluttered workspace I thought some about what I could do different. The most direct was to get all the bottles back in their proper spots, and fight the temptation of “oh but I might need that.” I know where everything is on my workbench when everything is in its proper place.
One thing that that’s taking up considerable room on the table is an HO Scale building. I have a few of these for 15mm zombie survival and this was a hold over. Ok let’s get ‘er done.
Rough prime was done so easy enough to wash in the interior and dry brush the exterior. Then layer in some simple detail, along with some weathering which was nothing more than existing staining from the prime.
One trick I’m showing here is storing my basing material in old spice jars which have a plastic sieve of sorts with a few holes. The jar of the lid is treated with the contents so I can quickly consider how it might look on a base.
Think I’ll futz around with the windows tonight and call it done… and finished!
Windows are chopped styrene from hot wheels blister backs, folded and creased for some texture. Note to self, apply sealer before installing clear plastic windows as the sealer will frost those window panes. I’m ok with the result but might have future applications were clear plastic is necessary.
Day 2 - Just about there
The haus appears to be coming down sick. That meant I spent the day cooking and painting and caring for the wife. Feels like I might be coming down with the same. Bleah
Think the dragon is just about done. One or two points of touch up and that will be that. The unicorns are mostly done, except the armored one and a bit of detail for the princess.
I’ll then cut over to some scatter terrain, barricades that I just haven’t been able to finish. Damnable pieces…
I have this loverly workspace and it’s so cluttered! I have less that a foot square to work in. Sigh I blame the paint – when I can get those bottles put away it’s a bit better.
Day 1 - Five Unicorns and a Dragon
I caught the painting bug bac in mid-February at the paint & take at one of our local shows. Since then it’s been all about clearing off the table of old projects Thanks for the inspiration
Little gallery of the table tonight, at the start and end of the night. You might catch a glimpse of some poly s, ral partha, and classic citadel ink.
The dragon I’ve had for ages, all tail and head. I found the body somewhere and stuck it all together, not sure if I got it right but I’m having fun with it.
The unicorns will be added to my classic ral partha army as heroes, monsters or maybe a unit in its own right.
